Hi Angela and Cody, I appreciate that your videos are fairly recent and not from 2 or 3 or 4 months ago. For me, living in MN, I like to see where people go during the winter. And not seeing it months later. 😊 Wishing you and your family a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
Thanks for kind words! We loved Minnesota for the little bit that we lived there. Maybe not during January or February..haha! I was not a fan of frozen nose hairs! 🤣 But it’s a great place to be!
There maybe a fitting to grease the front drive shaft. It will take a needle fitting adapter. Under the front hood there should be a sticker. Some say they are no longer needing this.
Watching your last video. I also have a Dodge(Stellantis) Ram 2020, 2500 pickup. I change my own filters, oil and fuel. All the tools 19:23 that Cody did in changing the oil I have. I change both the oil and fuel filters at the same time, ten thousand miles. I will take your advice on having an analysis of the oil. I haven't found any grease zirks on my Ram either. I also have the 6.7 Cummins. I have 70,000 miles on my truck. I found it recently less frustrating in changing the oil, taking the right front wheel off.
We have a red wagon for many years dogs love it. We used it to transport our kayaks to the lake, took it to the fireworks full of goodies when all grandchildren went with us. Just a very useful thing to have .
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Genos. Approaching 10k I’ve been pricing fuel filters online. Given what I just saw on the Mopar site, Genos is sounding better and better!
We do sample kits on industrial generators. Fuel, oil and coolant its saved a few engines from catastrophic failure. The automotive industry has been phasing out grease fittings for several years. As a former suspension mechanic at a dealership you’d be surprised how many people blew the seals out on new tie rods over packing grease in them.
5000 miles max gas or diesel. Pulling or not. Diesel rotella and high end filter. Gas Penzoil and high end filter. Cheap compared to cost of trucks these days.
I have owned a couple of Cummins ISB engines as well as large trucks (tandems) oil and filters are THE two cheapest things to throw at them to make them last. I buy Fleetguard oil filters (Cummins inhouse filter division) on line and used approved oils....Broke the first new engine in on Valvoline 15W40 then Royal Purple 15W40.....Rotella is fabulous oils and may use them in this truck. Good luck with your truck and travels 🙂
The only grease fitting for ove a decade has been the center of the cardan joint on the front axle drive shaft, closest to the t-case. They could of eliminated it by now, but check for a sticker reminder under the hood on drivers side near the front of the fender by the headlight.
Again Cody, we think alike: I have a 2021 HO SRW and I also do my own maintenance . I also never go past 50% oil life (according to the truck) because changing the oil is cheap insurance, especially towing so much. I am curious to see your test results, I personally am not a fan of Shell Rosella T. Everyone says it's the best, that has not been my experience . Also, I previously owned a 2001 Ram 2500 with the Cummins. I drove that truck for 22 years with ZERO issues other than typical maintenance stuff. That truck and all Cummins that I am aware of took 15w-40. Now they want 5w-40. I used this for one oil change, and now I am back on 15w-40. I have heard of lifters sticking on these Gen 5 trucks and I have to believe that the lighter weight oil has something to do with it. This truck has double the HP and over double the torque of my old Jenny. No way to convince me a lighter weight oil is better for a bigger (6.7 vs 5.9) and WAY more powerful motor. Just my $.02 Love the channel !
I have to admit I was a little surprised my truck says to run 10-30. That’s definitely not my experience with diesel engines but a lot has changed since I’ve used one on a regular basis. I think everyone is having lifter issues right now. From what I hear a good maintenance plan and keeping the idle time low is a big help in preventing it.
Adding a Fumoto drain valve makes taking oil samples a LOT easier and allows for a near mess free oil change. I service our RAM 3500 6.7L HO (and Caterpillar engine in the Class A) every 200 hrs. - j
I’ll look into that. Is there any risk of it coming loose while driving? We had right around 150 hours on ours at 7,000 miles. The book says 500 hours or 15,000 miles max but I think that’s a little too far
We’ve had no problems with the drain valves on multiple diesel tow vehicles. (RAM 2500/3500) The valves include a plastic clip or you can use safety wire if you have any concern with the valve opening. It does extend about an inch from the bottom of the oil pan, but the front axle and suspension components sit much lower. I probably wouldn’t use the valve if off-roading, but our 3500 DRW is a pampered pavement princess.
I am really not sure how you all don’t have more subs. We always enjoy your content. Interesting on the cost of an oil change. Here in east TN, I’m paying ~$140. On my old 7.3 F350, I did oil changes myself. For ~$140, I’d rather have the dealer do it. I really like that filter tool to prevent oil dumping out.
Thank you so much for that! We’re really trying hard to grow! The dealer oil changes or most any work is getting out of hand on maintenance. I haven’t changed my own oil in several years. I’d prefer someone else to do it, just because it’s a pain to deal with the waste. Admittedly, I do like crawling around & looking things over. It makes me sleep a little better I guess lol
@@RVUntetheredThat’s exactly how I feel about oil changes. The waste is a pain to deal with. Like you, I prefer to look things over for the peace of mind. My local Ram dealer quoted me $700 for oil and fuel change. I run the T5 Rotella blend 10w30 and I order on amazon as well because it is the cheapest. Angela and that balloon cracked us up!!
It was MEH, but not because of the oven. It was pretty juicy for a turkey. I was just looking forward to Cody's delicious smoked turkey, so it paled in comparison.
Good video 😊 just saying you're truck is under warranty and sometimes they give you free oil changes and you can bring you're own oil I want to have a record of oil change at a dealer for warranty I know you can keep you're record of purchase sometimes can be a problem I'm in California oil change is between 1 hundred and 2 hundred my first ones were free I change my own oil later gets to check for codes they have better software for any warranty in new truck safe travels
Look into installing a Fumoto Drain valve, it will make future oil changes and taking oil samples a breeze and mess free. If you get the one with a nipple and use a short hose, you can drain into either old oil bottles or milk jugs and safely drain HOT engine oil. I have it on out motorhome with the 6.7 Cummins and all my other vehicles….been using for about w0 years now.
@@RVUntethered This is usually the first concern when discussions on the Fumoto valve comes up. The Fumoto valve is discussed all over on the RV forums and I have never heard of that happening, they did start making a plastic safety clip for those concerned. I have them on my offroad vehicles which are exposed to extreme conditions and I have never had any issue. They are real nice if you want to pull a sample to send in, but like you I usually change mine before the recommended schedule. On our motorhome, I have them on the Cummins and on the generator. I trust them 100%
@@RVUntethered another trick if you want to put in a Fumoto before you next oil change is you can use a shop vac in the oil fill tube, taped and sealed and turn on. With the vaccum you can remove the drain plug and install the Fumoto valve without losing a drop of oil, sounds crazy but it works, several RUclips videos on it. Might be fun to film Angela doing it in case something goes wrong 😉😅
I might need info on the oil sample company. How did the Turkey turn out? We’re not full timers yet but I’m sure a plan to stay in touch with family will be on top of our list! Stay safe!

Does changing your own oil void your warranty? I bought my 1st new truck on my 3 oil change but been doing it thru the dealer cause I didn't know if it would void warranty doing it myself
I’ve never worried about it personally. I’ve thought about it, but there’s nothing in the manual that expressly prohibits it in my opinion. The consensus online is to use the recommended lubricants & filters and document everything with receipts. I cant fully answer the question, there could be something in the fine print or legal jargon that could put you in a pinch. I keep a maintenance spreadsheet with the details and upload all of my receipts to iCloud just in case a question ever comes up.
Bahahaha. I’ve always thought it was legit hog urine lol. I do plan doing doing all of the general maintenance myself when the time comes. I like getting my hands on the truck, see what’s going on and learn a little more about our new ride. Plus, I’m cheap! 😂
Mental note: Never try to get inside a huge balloon. Tried the dog in the wagon, took 5 strenuous minutes to get her in, and took 1.5 seconds for her to get out. Not gonna try that again!
Be sure to check the fuel filter life. Mine says 15,000 miles, but I try to keep it to about 10,000. The dealership here wants over $700 to change both filters, and they're easier to change than doing an oil change.
Just another reminder, DO NOT buy Amazon/fleabay Fuel filters. The majority are counterfeit that will leave your truck not getting fuel. I strictly buy Genos now for genuine filters. Fuel filters are nothing to cheap out on. I do oil 7500mi and every other oil change (15,000)I do fuel too.

Bahahaha. I’ve always thought it was legit hog urine lol. I do plan doing doing all of the general maintenance myself when the time comes. I like getting my hands on the truck, see what’s going on and learn a little more about our new ride. Plus, I’m cheap! 😂
@@RVUntetheredNot cheap, fiscally responsible! 😂 Me too!
Instead of yogurt try sour cream in your deviled eggs! Yummy
Hmmm I bet I’d like that better than Mayo!
Mental note: Never try to get inside a huge balloon. Tried the dog in the wagon, took 5 strenuous minutes to get her in, and took 1.5 seconds for her to get out. Not gonna try that again!
😂😂Good life notes right there!
Be sure to check the fuel filter life. Mine says 15,000 miles, but I try to keep it to about 10,000. The dealership here wants over $700 to change both filters, and they're easier to change than doing an oil change.
Omg!! That’s a lot! I was wondering about the fuel filter. Thanks!
I am definitely going to check them out! Thanks for the information!
