The steps actually come to a conclusion on “Mother I Sober”, the genius annotation even says that it’s Kendrick ‘no longer tapping around the conversation.’ Wonderful video

Count Me Out, Die Hard and Rich Spirit are probably my most-listened to on the album. I love their soundscapes, very chill but also complex and warm and rich.
Count Me Out, to me, is kind of a sigh of relief from Kendrick. It's the first part to Mirror in a lot of ways.
With the recently concluded beef, and how far down hell he had to take it to win, I really, really wonder what the next Kendrick album is going to be. I think I'm in the minority where I dont think he will actually drop this year...

Also the tap is so cool! I love when tap dancing is used to rhymically evoke emotion. I once watched a one man show where he tap danced the rhythm of the words he was speaking (no music backing him) but it was an entire monologue of him speaking at his father about how hard he has worked and how he has never felt like anything he did was enough. the tap dancing and the speaking ended with him completely out of breath, broken down, and exhausted. His father stood up, and left without saying a word when he was done. The entire room was in awe. You could hear a pin drop. I knew we all were emotionally destroyed at the end. Especially because people started giggling in the beginning-(adding tap dance was a silly choice) but when the audience knew exactly what it was about it was powerful.

it's slowly gaining more love and recognition as time goes on. i know people comparing music to aging like fine wine is corny but this is a real example of that. hell, think about how many discussions are currently going on about mother i sober even after 2 years of it being released. and count me out is getting even more praise right now. think of whatll happen in 2029, or even later on

I also think “fighting through the [steps]” is invoking a 12 step program, ie: recovery from addiction, in his case sex addiction.

@@sameenshakya5188 it's hinted at through quick spoken words. on track 3 aka worldwide STEPPERS, kodak black says "this is the big steppers" and on mother i sober, kendrick's baby son says "mr morale". i thought it was weird at first and wondered if he was playing into the DAMN backwards theory again but boom

I like how you talk through your thoughts😌 idk why but it’s kinda calming like I struggle picking my words that get put into sentences but your opinions are so confidently stated, while being respectful and open to other ideas. I think that’s what makes it more fun to debate in the comments too! Plus love the way therapy is talked about here.

people hate it because kendrick's facing real shit and isnt sugar coating a damn thing. tyler the creator said it best, kendrick is looking straight into the eyes of the people that need to hear this record, so they get scared, turn it off, and call it 'mid' because they lack insight
