Kendrick Lamar's "Savior" tackles so many subjects at once that it's hard to compile them all into one theme. In this video, we look at Kendrick Lamar's legacy along with his recent output, and explain why he is not your savior. calling brat better than The Miseducation of Lauryn hill is crazy
Swear down you slag off an album and give it an 8, then you praise the album like its the best thing ever and give it an 8 also. how does that work?
yap yap yap gone
one way trigger is the best strokes song in my opinion but fair
Did you not listen to Jardin de los presentes???!??!
@@awiwi-j4j I did! I forgot to mention it but hearing the tribe called quest sample during that album was so cool!
At first, I didn’t like the song, then one day it comes on and I’m like “aye this beat is hitting” then I start actually listening to it and I’m like “damn” and now it’s my second fav song behind ignorance is bliss because of how it resonates with me.
Hot rats at 28 is wild
1:34 Fck you mean batshit beat???
buyers market by peter sotos in my opinion has the darkest source material, but from a musical standpoint its just people talking and sometimes children in distress. from a musical standpoint, i think dj enthrall & angstorm - extr. s.o.s. is the most disturbing sounding. the hidokaijan tapes are also pretty terrifying too, but its almost not even music anymore, just really disorted and loud screaming.
My best song on the album
''this is the mentality they pushed on their sons because they didn't know any better'' is not totally correct; there's these elements of transgenerational toxic masculinity, but in these case they also intersect with the specific social condition they're in as black men in Compton. If he needs to go back to work right after his mom died, it's because he needs to be able to try and protect himself against poverty as much as he can. So there are these toxic elements that are perpetuated, but they are also because they seem necessary, as in ''you need to be tough because this world won't be good to you'', which is also why in circumstances like Kendrick's it can be doubly hard to undo these lessons around suppressing emotions etc.
Great list! 🙂 Here are my top ten: 1. The Last Dinner Party - Prelude to Ecstasy 2. Vampire Weekend - Only God Was Above Us 3. MGMT - Loss of Life 4. The Smile - Wall of Eyes 5. Allie X - Girl With No Face 6. Billie Eilish - HIT ME HARD AND SOFT 7. Adrianne Lenker - Bright Future 8. Katie Pruitt - Mantras 9. Maggie Rogers - Don't Forget Me 10. Knocked Loose - You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To
Awesome list! Can’t wait to see what the last dinner party makes next
@ agreed!
Although I love 'Mother I Sober', not just cuz I can relate 100% but, I feel like 'Mirror' is Mr. Morale's most important song
Crazy how the comment section cant grasp that this is an opinion and everyones opinion is different
Modest Mouse?
Pixies were great. I always loved the bass players voice, she added so much.
Honestly, I wouldn't listen to the people trying to tell you to give more time to the records here you don't like in order for you to "understand them" or gain some weird higher appreciation for them. I think people online tend to forget music is subjective when they see the same albums praised over and over again. It's refreshing to see some unique takes in a sea of boring sameness amongst online music discourse. Good video btw
True, but it is important to understand an album. Swans are a pretty hard band to get in general and so with no introduction to their style in a more palpable way then how is anyone going to enjoy them
Best review …simple. clean, and clear! Thank You✨
Missing many great 90s indie bands Sonic Youth, Buffalo Tom, Ween, Weezer, Screaming Trees.
aw man never ever upon any occasion allow bro to cook again
Kendrick said in a recent interview with SZA that the last time He cried was when he was recording “Mother I sober”. That broke my heart 😢😢😢
MMATBS is my top KL album. First time I listened to it, I listened without skips to the end then back to back. When I am stressed I put this on and go for a jog (and when Mother I sober comes on, I slowdown or walk just so I dont breakdown). This album is therapy .
i rate this video a 0/10
bro needs to retire after making this video 😭😭😭
dear god never rate again
Bro skinny fists at 27 is criminal
Man I just… ugh
Wow it's amazing how many of your points I disagree with Interestingly enough what you said about miseducation was quite bold but I fully agree
I might give hot rats a bit of a higher ranking
FINALLY SOMEONE PUT SARAH!!
If you really understand what the different albums are all about, his cataologue makes so much sense. Mr Morale following Damn was what i didnt know i needed. It kind off feels like Mr Morale is the therapy session to get rid of the problems and dive into them deeper that damn mentioned. And it feels like tpab and gkmc is telling you a lot about what couldve caused those problems. Going through a tuff time the last 5 months and damn and mr morale are helping me so much.
How is solace or grief by earl not on here?
Brooo 😭😭😭 lift your skinny fists near the bottom of the list hurts me, that’s my favorite album of all time😭 great video
never cook again
The song hits different when youve lived through the situation it talks of
Dude you hit the nail on the head with the album prediction, how do you feel
@@PassTheMic2006 I remember saying he was gonna release an album, but listening back to this vid, I didn’t think I’d be THAT correct lol. Only thing I got wrong was the Black Hippy reunion, but Heart pt. 6 at least addressed that. It feels great and I’m ecstatic it happened!
LemKuuja is the guy who made the songs that are used in the Future Funk levels in Geometry Dash. Bro's really underrated
Man i love government plates
i listen to this when I workout, and i be crying 2 it sometimes
GUIDED BY VOICES!
This is one of the reasons why mr morale and the tbs is my favorite kendrick albums
The gazette The suicide circus enters the chat
Going by this it doesn't seem like you listen to much outside of Hip-Hop(not a bad thing by any means), because imo at least To Be Kind isn't that challenging of a listen whatsoever(aside from the fact that it's tonally dark and all) if you have any exposure to Progressive or Instrumental rock music. Also how the hell was it "Random"? It literally has a 30 minute song and nothing felt filler like cmon
@@daggerdrake3065 TBK isn’t challenging, I just find it long and boring. I’ll give it another chance sometime. There’s plenty of other prog rock I like
on a sidenote: the song goes hard.
Fax Father Time is amazing

Duke, I wanted to recommend a 2 disc comp. from Matador records called Whats Up Matador? Id be surprised if you haven't heard it. ruclips.net/p/PLLSEuLenOiq669mjPE9RCC992Stw_pL9Y&si=wKR7wXDuV1YAvrWd
When it started disrespect has to stop, top 10 strokes imo
Shouldove done his mix tape it’s good
Father Time is my favorite song from Kendrick. It really does connect with me and I just sometimes make my tear up because I can relate to some of this. It’s heart breaking that people do go through things like this.
Very powerful 😢
That chinese album is really good 👍
