    • @lenlimbo
      @lenlimbo 11 месяцев назад +5

      Banette can function without its mega after the physical special split. Not very well, but it can, and it was decent in Gen 3. The same can't be said about Mawile, including the part about Gen 3. Sure, Intimidate is a great ability in ANY pokemon... but there are a lot of better Intimidate users. Sheer Force only works if you can actually use it, and between its mediocre 85 attack and its worthless 50 speed, coupled with 50 hp (so not even its 85 def will keep Mawile in battle for long, or at all) means that it is practically useless. Even in Gen 3, when you got access to it, it was just better to get an Aron. It was more common, available in both versions, and MUCH more powerful when fully evolved.
      Wormadam trash at least can take a hit or two, with better hp, def and sp. def, and overcoat to protect it from hail (in the past) and any powder based attack. So no spores, sleep powders, poison powders or stun spores to ruin Wormadam's day. Sure, there are better steel bug types to use, both for taking a hit and in general. But having a niche that can actually be fulfilled (tanky pokemon that can ignore powder based attacks) is better than technically having a niche but not really (intimidate user in a world where every other intimidate user is actually fantastic, specially in comparison with yourself)

      Delibird it the kind of pokemon that gives false hope, you think it would be fun to use, then check its move pool and realize its only reason for existing is being santa in the anime. Present is also a terrible move with the following damage table:
      40% for 40 base power
      30% for 80 base power
      10% for 120 base power
      20% to heal by 1/4 of targets max HP
      Like how is that even usable or reliable, on average it deals 52 damage with a 20% chance to heal by 1/4. (And its 90% accurate)
      So it has 1 usable move which is drill peck at level 25 for 100% chance at 80 base power.
      Atleast it can learn TMs but a very important aspect of a Pokemon is its levelup pool, and with its base stats you aren't wasting TMs on it unless you are doing a randomized nuzlocke with no other choice.

    Ok, going to have to call out your claims about Mawile with two words: Shear Force.
    Mawile's BST isn't really that good, but it does get a decent selection of moves, particularly physical moves that have chances of flinching or inflicting status conditions. And those are the kinds of moves that benefit from Shear Force, as they get a 30% increase in power at the expense of losing their secondary effects. So, just to use an example, Body Slam normally has a power of 85, but when used by Shear Force Mawile it actually has a power of 110.5, making it almost as powerful as Double Edge, without the recoil. And combined with 85 attack (which isn't amazing but it's passable), Shear Force Mawile can actually do some damage. Give it an Assault Vest to give it a chance of surviving special attacks and it can actually be kinda ok, not spectacular but definitely not deserving of the position of "worst fully evolved steel type".

    If The Pokemon Company are releasing a poster, and that poster is depicting a scene in the ocean, you're going to see a small school of Luvdisc filling out what would have otherwise been empty space, with some Corsolas on the seafloor.
    If that poster has a scene in the forest, you're going to probably see some Wormadam, and maybe a few Ariados. Maybe if it's a spooky poster it will have a Hypno in the shadows.
    If that poster is in a tundra, you're going to see a Crabominable, or a Deliberd. (And DEFINITELY some Snover, GameFreak seems to refuse to let anybody else get Snow Warning at this point aside Alolan Ninetails.)
    If that poster is depicting a rural Japanese town, you can bet your bottom dollar you're going to see some Chimeco working as windchimes.

It can also use Sweet Scent for guaranteed horde battles and Struggle Bug to kill them all in a single move, which combined with the Power X held items grinds EVs in a hurry.
    Of course it has to be monstrously overleveled to accomplish these things, and none of this is competitive, but it had a use for me.
    Kricketune is the worst bug type, IMO. Literally no use anywhere. Outclassed by the starters or any of the various 'butterfly' Pokemon even in the early game. It has a good cry, and that's it.

    I keep seeing people crap on Delcatty, meanwhile the thing was the saving grace of my battles with Glacia and Drake while also putting down some power against Steven in my 1st playthrough of Omega Ruby, frankly how it ran through Glacia virtually on it's own is beyond me but I was the only thing on my team that had a super effective move against Drake in Play Rough (yes I had a Skitty until it hit level 46, I didn't know how to evolve it till I beat Liza and Tate, my first Pokémon game okay, cut me some slack) and it decimated him. Now that I better understand team building I know it was my best option for Drake only because I was bad at move teaching, my Swampert had Dive, Surf, Waterfall, and Rock Smash and I didn't have the tm for Ice Beam to use it on Latios, but I can't deny it played a starring role in that playthrough. I guess I also have the consolation of it being utterly busted in Mystery Dungeon, if you pick Skitty as your player pokémon in Rescue Team DX you're playing the beginner difficulty, and if you get the tm for Blizzard early on, well you just win, most of the bosses are weak to ice and it's just a room nuke so you don't have to line it up like ice beam.

    To say they I hate luvdisc is to presume I even think of it at all. Also I found shiinotic incredibly useful for catching legendarys in gen 7 and 8 with 100% accuracy spore, ev trained into defense stats and holding a sitrus berry.

    in ultra sun and ultra moon you can evolve crabrawler at the base of mount hakulani, which you can access way earlier in the game. i used one in my ultra sun playthrough. i love it and will defend it

    Story time: So me and my friend were doing a XY Nuzlocke together, and we both lost a few Pokemon and we were in the late game. (I almost had an Entire box full of dead mons, I hate Tierno) so I was almost out of flying pokemon and so was my friend.
    Except for 1 we both caught, it was a delibird.
    We were looking through our boxes for flyers and my friend said "hey can Delibird learn fly?" Cause neither of us ever used it, and were not sure if it was like a scyther situation (has flying typing but can't learn fly) and it could so we were able to fly to the lcoation we needed to go to.

    I remember my first playthrough of Sun version, I thought crabrawler was so cool and it was one of the first new mons to join my team. Then it kept not evolving, but I don't like spoilers for the first playthrough so I just kept it around and it kept leveling up and leveling up. When I finally evolved it, I was furious. Same applies for my charjabug. Why did I get an awesome new bug type if I couldn't evolve it until the game was almost over???

    Parasect has a niche in VGC, he was used to wall Kyogre and it is able to actually faint it unlike Shedinja. Sunflora would have been a better pick since its the worst Solar Power user.

    Delcatty can be used for a high effort cheesy strat in doubles. If you can get the Normalise ability on opponents by Skill Swap + Entrainment then use double ghosts, that's two mons that don't hit you. Then you focus on one side for a cheese win. But it's harder than it's worth and if the opponent KO's one of the set-up mon, you're fucked.

    I am saddened that Mawile, one of my top 3 favorite pokémon, is always just shafted. Albeit, I would argue it can attack. It's attack stat, while isn't good, isn't necessarily turbo bad either and can have Sheer Force so it gets a lot of natural extra damage. But yeah, it's not great without it's mega evo.

    • @robertlupa8273
      @robertlupa8273 2 года назад +2

      The worst thing about Mawile is that it takes forever to learn _any_ STAB move (discounting Fairy Wind, which is special and therefore not good on Mawile), so it's not even that good in-game. In fact, it learns *zero* STAB moves besides Hidden Power Steel in Gen 3. I wish it at least had some kind of biting Steel type move.

    Wigglytuff is easily the worst fairy type fully evolved. Shinotic has spore. Wiggly tuff has absolutely nothing to offer, besides wish passing. It’s essentially outclassed by clefable and has no niche. It’s only good stat is hp, but no actual defensive bulk and mid tier support moves at best. It doesn’t even have a niche in lower tiers

    Ariados had a genuine niche in gen 4 Ubers as a hazard setting lead. Now yes I understand that you weren't really taking competative into account that much for this list and that's fine, but just think about that for a second. The worst poison type was going up against pokemon like Darkari and Deoxys and leaving your team in a better position than the legendaries could :>

    Thieval actually helped me a lot on Pokémon sword, I kept mine up until I got the legendary Pokémon then came back and got it to level 100. The trick for me was not using it against fighting types at all. Like 4/6 Pokémon on my team were from the first route and I never changed them out on Pokémon sword.

    and can we talk about how you need to use a moon stone to evolve Skitty? foul. I always think that Delcatty deserves an evolution, which would make an interesting case of a stone evo not being the final one. Maybe give Delcatty another moon stone and it becomes a normal/fairy type?
