There's a lot of "cultural appropriation" screaming and various other over sensitivity. People a quick to jump down others throats or claim ill intent. Etc. It's okay to take several different similar cultures and throw them together to make something new/your own. I thought the Nordic version was super cool and fitting given bears and berserkers but it's your chapter and therefore you can do as you like. it turned out great regardless.

Love the changes. In fact they seem to better flow with your lore potential.
If the bears have the drawback and curse of hibernation.. entering the long sleep.. those who come back can be your librians or dream striders. Your chaplain Corp can be the shamans and weavers who make all the totems and dream catchers to ward off the curse and guide the chapter.
My main thought tends towards identifying their main chapter characteristic. They thus far seem like major closer combatants, perhaps further that with specialist units akin to terminators with boarding shield and single claw nicknamed the Ursine Cadre or the Antrum Defensorem.
I personally would suggest to keep their curse far from the wolves and have no worgen wolfkin, etc. Maybe early signs be transformative? Fingernails becoming longer and harder, more claw like. Maybe jaw and nose defending to become more snout like.
So much potential. Excited to see where you take it.

Being able to do that rather than staying in the "comfort zone" of fantasy archetypes makes their story that much more impressive, compelling, and respectful to their inspiration. You should be proud of what you're creating :)
(Also the sculpts are just insanely badass haha, keep it up!)

My one concern is that people will see this and start demanding changes for "representation" from other creators. I as a minority never take offense when poeple borrow from or use elements of our culture in any part. But you as a creator should be free to create your vision as you see it. Regardless of where you grab elements in part from other cultures. I would understand if your weapons and armor look a one to one look of a specific cultures warriors or tradional dress but in the case of space marines that is unlikely ever to happen. I for one have no problem with either direction but I will always advocate for the creators freedom of expression. I love your space bears concept and will definitely be supporting your work regarldles.

The sculpting work LastLight did was amazing. At the same time, I am so thrilled that you and Puppetswar took the time to create some native-looking faces for the Bears. Even though I miss the beard, I adore the way the chapter master came out. I love his new name too. Another comment on this video said that the Space Bears feel more real and complete than most official chapters and I second that comment.

Fantastic work, and the detail with which you went through the process of SHOWING how you handled the prospect of learning more and applying it to your work for the purposes of representation is great. The finished model is amazing, and I hope all of this goes forward to color any other releases you do for the Astra Primursa!

9:11 I had no idea that there was a story behind those amazing sculpts ! 8))
I just bought the STLs recently, reduced them to 90% scale (they are made for space marines after all) and started to create a team of natives snipers for my imperial guard's legion !

Man, you've started to inspire me to create a custom chapter of my own, which are currently unnamed. The theme is inspired by Draugr from Norse Mythology. Their backstory goes thatthe whole chapter got mysteriously wiped out, but later returned like nothing happened when everyone could CLEARLY see something had. Basically they were so stubborn they flat out rejected death and got away with it because it's 40k. Now they're little more than creepy glowy-eyed skeletons in power armor, and yet they still show the same loyalty to the Emperor that they did before. Thoughts?

I think this must be my favourite video of yours to date. The time you spent to research this in the correct way and to ensure the finished product was perfect for your own vision without offending any culture or race is highly commendable. Hats off to you, sir. I haven't played 40K in years, but I'm so tempted to collect a small sleuth/pack of bears. And as there are many species of bear in the world, options are extensive. Keep up the great work, and thank you for all the content.

Honestly, huge props for not only making the change, but listening to/being open with a commonly ignored criticism of fantasy. I’ve seen so many people halfass using one or two aspects of a culture and then completely forgetting about it, it’s refreshing to see some do it correctly. Also it looks fantastic and the iron halo dream catcher is a perfect mashup.

Thank you for not clout chasing like some other tabletop influencers by using diversity as a buzzword but actually reading, learning and applying Native culture in your army. You and your army are an example many people in the tabletop community should follow. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more of the Space Bears!!!

I seem to remember from the Deathwing space hulk game the dark angels of the first company had a Native American concept. Maybe your bears should be an off shoot of those warriors when the dark angels came back to clam the terminator armor from that story line and drop the space wolf association.
