@TabletopTime a great way to do scales is use Green stuff worlds rollers before cutting the shape out and applying it or applying the scales with the roller before the trim.
Lorewise - it's logic that Alpharius/Omegon are size of some random Terminator. They are said to be only slightly bigger than standard Astartes, that's why they can blend and hide so well among their Legion's ranks.
@@Bass-ef3drPrimaris weren’t around until 10 thousand years afterwards and their Alpha Legion sons therefore wouldn’t have any Primaris marines so that wouldn’t cause an issue even now as Chaos doesn’t have Primaris An issue that could arise is any normal Alpha Legion subterfuge activity possibly being heavily hindered by the increasingly scarce amount of Firstborn
And I found if you want salamander scales you can make a tool for it by using extra putty and putting holes in it, I found out about this by the nurgle's dairys by miscast
I loved all the transitions where it looked like someone else was taking over and then Dave was just like “haha jk” lol. Sick model conversion and great sculpting.
Fun fact Alfarius and Omegon changed places and names, but when Alfarius who was Omegon died Alfarius who pretended to be Omegon changed his name to Alfarius in Omegon (who was pretending to be Alfarius)honor sow Alfarius is alive if they never changed places so... one of them is alive.
You're right. The OG Alpharius that was raised by Malcador and that knew all his brothers is the one that is still alive. They name swapped when they first met and Alpharius only picked the name back up once Omegon (who was going by Alpharius) died on Pluto to Rogal Dorn.
Dave!!!!!!! For sculpting scales here's a really easy way to do it: use a tool that has a triangle tip the size and shape of the top half of the diamond shape of the scale you want, then you press in at an angle (so that the top of the triangle is more pressed in than the bottom) the tool in a repeated line, then stagger halfways the next line under it. This should create nice even line of scales with minimal adjustments needed after :)
With the leviathan box, I am trying ,kinda succeeding, to make secret Alpha Legion agents hidden amongst the ranks by having 1 model of each squad mid transformation so I can have at least the arm with the chapter symbol and the head. I freaked out my friend when he saw one of these agents as part of my new terminator squad. Especially since they are suppose to be Dark Angels....
There is an Omegon model. It's an Alpharius model. They're identical twins. Truth be told, any 30K Alpha Legion model would work, as the twins blended in with their Legions.
For small castings you can suck up your resin or polyurethane into a syringe, block the end with your finger, with the syringe pointing upwards draw back and it creates a vacuum inside the syringe which brings all your bubbles to the to. Slowly release the plunger and you can inject the resin/polyurethane into your mould
Hell yeah, this is the kind of kitbashing I love. Pushing the boundaries of your skill, seeing what exactly you can make. And Alpharius turned out amazing! As did Alpharius.
your sculpting evolved so much that you are now the best on youtube probably. would love to see a big model scratch bashing style. maybe a biotitan or sth like that

i've seen a lot of ppl do amazing stuff with 'blue stuff' it works great from impressions. seen dozens of tutorials where the use it to take impressions, the last one being the shoulder aquilla. they applied the blue stuff to an aquillaed shoulder pad, allowed the blue stuff to harden and then used greenstuff to clone the aquilla then superglued it to a bare shoulder pad(after trimming and cleaning it up ofc). from what i understand the blue stuff is reusable too, ya just need to warm/heat it. perhaps next time try to see if you could make a scale 'stamp' of sorts, by blue stuffing the surface of alpharius' armour...i wish i had the confidence and motor skills to work green stuff like you tho...AMAZING job dude ...hope that made sense, might take a few times reading it...that dual plasma gun is dope
Sculpting scales: you start from the lowermost: take triangular-tipped sculpting tool and pressthe tip to create a row oftriangular indents. The raised putty between the indents is the lowest row of scales. Now create another row above them, in a criss-cross pattern, and flatten the resulting scales. repeat with the row above and so on.
The amount of Alpha Legion Jokes is amazing, made laugh several times. He turned out great! Wow! Now I wanna keep working on MY own Al' Legion! Legion of Al!
Maybe you could sculpt and print a scale-mail roller (similar to rollers you'd use for terrain) then roll out a small piece of grilly putt and cut it to size/shape
brilliant work I myself have an entire army of space Marines, in Alpha legion colours and play them as chaos maybe they are loyalist or maybe their just really good at pretending
I think that since alpharius is roughly the size of most Gen 1 Marines, that leads to the thought that the majority of primaris marines are way bigger than the twin primarchs
Alpha Legion marines were always taller than their cousin legions' astartes, and their primarch(s) are closer to the height of their legionaries; thus, everyone is Alpharius Omegon.
In the Alpharius Primarch Book, there is a part of the story where Alpharius uses a Custodian Guardian Spear. I don't remember if he kept the spear, but that could have been the spear to use! Also, in the book, before the Heresy, Alpharius and Omegon traded places, making Omegon Alpharius and Alpharius Omegon during the Heresy, so perhaps the Forge World mini is actually Omegon, not Alpharius, and so the model you just created might actually be Alpharius in the disguise of Omegon. Or this entire video is a joke, and that is not actually either of the primarchs, but rather, just a random terminator, saying he is Alpharius or Omegon. I love the Alpha Legion
Alpha Legion is my favorite legion, and I firmly believe that, while the astartes themselves don't know if they are loyal or traitor, that's because Alpharius is a traitor (who thinks he is doing what the Emperor wanted) and Omegon is a loyalist. Now just waiting for the reveal the Cypher in 40k is Omegon
This model is cool however my one grip with it is that it seems too bulky. I know that’s just a side effect of using new terminator plate but his shoulders just seem way too wide. Other than that great model and great vid!!!
I think its the problem with the new terminator character being a giant chungus - He is like 30% bigger than a normal terminator. Like the HH praetors - Its why i chose it for a primarch
Tip for scales, may not work but I do leather working and you can get like dragon scale etc detailing tools maybe others some smaller tools and patterns that can get the effect.
Funny enough the pale spear is a weapon of unknown origin found by omegon. That later was used as the symbol of the primarch. Other option would be to use a guardian spear from custodes
And this whole video just reminds me of how Dave and I need to have an "Aplharius-off" once I finish my Loyalist Alpha-legion Sucessor chapter... Because most everyone is Alpharius here... :P (Amongst other things, I am working on my own special character - Alpharius as a Librarian Contemptor Dreadnought!)
Love the vid! The conversions you guys do are always great, and I'm a huge Alpha Legion fan boy. I would like to point out that Λ is lambda, not alpha, in the Greek alphabet. Super common mistake though, I only learnt the difference fairly recently.
I love love love the alpha legion and Alpharius/Omegon. I'm probably going to start collecting my first astartes just so I can paint them to be alpha legion. If I do, this video is going to be really helpful with aesthetic inspiration and painting help. So like... THANKS and stuff. I'd love to see more alpha legion stuff from you guys, but that's just my fan girliness talking.
Its my firm belief that Omegon was the traitor and dorn killed him at Pluto, while Alpharius is alive and loyal. My reasoning coming from the Alpharius primarch book. Alpharius was found first and raised by the Emperor on Terra and understood his ideals better than any other primarch. Omegon was found last by Alpharius and was more removed from Imperial ideals. I addition, due to being found first, the Emperor and Malcador taught Alpharius to keep himself secret and operate the background of the Alpha Legion. And at the end of the book, Alpharius says as much to his twin, and they switch places, having Omegon be "found" by Horus and claiming he was Alpharius. And in the book Legion, "Omegon" is introduced walking through Imperial security while remaining unidentified as it cant detect him. In conclusion: Omegon posed as Alpharius, the face of the Alpha Legion, and died in the Horus Heresy, while Alpharius, posing Omegon, is still out there and loyal, trying to use the loyal and traitorous elements of his Legion to help the Imperium however he can. And i know all of this, because I am, in fact, Alpharius.
Always felt that modelling and painting Alpha Legion as their own thing instead of random Marines that conform to what weapons you're allowed to use for them is weird. I always imagined they'd have a bunch of Imperial Fists and Ultramarines as standard Chaos units, and Minotaurs as a Berserker proxy. Conform the gear, paint em as all the chapters and legions, then simply do the Hydra on their backs
Even the Alpha Legion have a Sunday best! I think it's covered in the books but basically they operate in multiple ways, and shock/terror is one of them. That wouldn't work if people didn't know who they were. They mention that there is a time for subterfuge, and a time to throw off the disguise and show your colours. Even to describe alphariuses fancy primarch outfit they say that even a primarch of the alpha legion needed to have parade gear, and some conflicts, especially side by side with brother legions, they needed to fight in full colors
@@TabletopTime Fair. However, I see them suddenly yelling "For the Emperor!" and turning on all the other Marines around them. Plus, it's a good excuse to paint one of every chapter and legion for a slick display :P
This Omegon model is really well done, it looks awesome. You don’t mind if I make a replica of it for myself right? The model is just too well made for me not to make it.

Lorewise - it's logic that Alpharius/Omegon are size of some random Terminator. They are said to be only slightly bigger than standard Astartes, that's why they can blend and hide so well among their Legion's ranks.
Are they bigger than primaris size or fistborn size.
Because that might give them a problem blending.
@@Bass-ef3dr Alpha Legion were generally larger than most other space marines so they could be the size of primaris

An issue that could arise is any normal Alpha Legion subterfuge activity possibly being heavily hindered by the increasingly scarce amount of Firstborn
Worth noting is that the Alpha Legion Astartes are also a bit larger than average, as well.
@@Selvanusthats the point. If they where bigger than primaris marines and where surrounded by "normal" (bigger) marines it would still be an issue
The unconverted model is just Omegon in disguise.
The converted model is also Omegon in disguised
Do you mean Alpharius?
The true artist merely uncovers the form within the marble
or is it alpharius?
Given how Alpharias was the shortest primarch, it makes sense a terminator could match him.
Short King
And had general larger marines
Especially a Primaris sized terminator
They are said to be able to augment their size so he could be short and the next time you see him he could be tall
For my scales I used a metal sculpting tool as the grips are the perfect size for the scales, just use it as a roller.
Was just coming to say this!
