Another great video. I have to say, you are one of the very best channels in RC tech talk. Intelligent, unbiased, objective focused, and honest. In my opinion. Always welcome smart information.
I know whats up with breaking the Arrma 4S V2 chassis, I have one too. The suspension comes out of the box not set up to do jumps hardly at all. Its the softest suspension setup that I have ever seen on an RTR basher. Literally, when I floor it on the street and then hit the brakes, the squat and nose dive honestly resembles that of a Traxxas UDR. Its THAT soft. I believe what happened is Arrma simply re-used the spring rate and shock oil from the 3S trucks thinking it would be a good idea to have it a bit softer under the larger truck. On the one hand, they do have a point - this 4S Kraton handles better than the 6S one, and the shock travel over bumps is simply INSANE. However, even 3-foot high jumps will bottom out the suspension and slam the chassis on the ground. So whats happening to you is: When you jump your Kraton 4S V2 15-20 feet high, the chassis is literally taking 90% of the force from the impact, while the suspension does next to nothing. To do jumps higher than 5 feet, you gotta add a bit of extra preload to the springs and use some thicker shock oil for sure.
I have been thinking about getting a Maxx for some time now. I keep watching videos and reading reviews on the Maxx, and I just can’t justify owning one. I have a few 2x4 Traxxas vehicles and they are ok. But… I love my Arrma Kraton.
Excellent video! I know not everyone is going to agree (no surprise there) but I think you nailed it 👍 I typically place handling ahead of anything else and think the Sketer is the best. However, in this case, I think I would lean towards the Kraton, mostly for parts availability and support. Thanks!
So Maxx is $570 over there but is equivalent to $689 here in Europe! While Sketer is $490 there, $482 here and Kraton 4S v2 is $470 there, $494 here. Traxxas is very evidently giving their European customers the shaft!

Great and honest review as always from you, we really love your style. We would choose the Maxx though because of the durability, we have lots of trucks that drives well, we just want an extreme durable “send it” truck 👍
Great video. I got the Sketer for my daughter and have put the 4S backflips on it and the M2C 5mm extenders but would still like it wider as it rolls extremely easy. What did you use to make it wider? Is there a wider Hub I could use with the M2C? Cheers..Mal
I guess I'm a rebel. I have the Maxx V1 and I've always loved it. I don't even have the Widemaxx kit- to me it's fine as is. Yeah, it's not as stable and as easy to handle. Maybe it is a brick compared to the Arrma. But I can take it out every day and not worry about breaking something. And even when I do- if I don't have the part I have two stores within 15 minutes of my house that have pretty much everything for it. And the prices for parts, especially the basic type parts is just way better than everything else. People can rip on Traxxas all they want for using plastics and cheaper materials, etc- but there is no need to overengineer everything if it doesn't break. It boggles my mind how on one hand they rip on Traxxas for being built cheap- yet admit to their vehicles being highly durable. Bashing is about durability first and foremost- and if the thing is capable of taking 30 foot jumps, why are we complaining? I don't care if I take a digger now and again- that's part of the fun.
Your description of driving the Maxx is identical to how driving my Xmaxx feels to me. Imagine if they weren't somewhat durable and were only judged on performance and value? Traxxas would finally have to hire an engineer or designer to regularly update trucks rather than renting one a couple weeks every year or 2 to make a "new" Slash or Maxx based truck with BOLD NEW COLORS.
I am selling my Kraton 4s V2 sealed in the box. Definitely buyers remorse. The only one I didn’t research enough. Bring back team associated quality like the sc8e. I still have my Team Associated Nomad. Now that’s a beast. Shame they were only a limited run.
I like the Skeeter, I've broken the arms on my 4s outcast so many times with just a slight rollover. Used GPM arms and so far ok. The shocks leaked all the time so used alloy aftermarket. Great comparison, the Skeeter is next for me.
Love the comparison vid! I would like to see how much $ was spent on repairs as part of the value too though. Being cheap doesn't mean much if I'm replacing a chassis every 3rd outing. Keep up the good videos!
Ditto on Rocks DBlocks words. Hit it on the nail. Always very professional in all means. But I have to disagree with the out come. I think derability comes in the fact that all cars break, but you will be waiting on parts probably 2-3 times longer and that means it becomes a shelf queen. Not by choice. Arrma's parts are within 2-3 days. So even if it breaks, I could have the parts within 2-3 hours local. Thanks for your honesty and thoroughness. Have Fun
I can't say much about the Skeeter. But I do own a Maxx V1 stock & a Maxx V1 modified. My buddies went the other direction with the Fire team, Notorious and a Krayton. Has a lot to do with driving but I will tell you this they definitely spend more time broken than I do. And it's not due to lack of parts it's cuz they break more often.
If they went with the 6s line on the Kraton and Notorious, they may break a little more if not upgraded but those models are heavier and considerably more powerful than the Maxx. The maxx can’t do half of what a 6s Arrma can do, especially in the air with their much larger tires for rotational mass (spin control) and power systems on 6s. I’ve had just about every rc over the past 20 years and have the most fun with the 6s Kraton and Outcast off ramps. Things can basically rotate in a half a second are are crazy durable with a few particular upgrades
I just don't understand the Corally bumper design. On my Kronos V2 its the exact same. So much stress is put on the wheels and front suspension with any kind of hit. Wish they would put an actual bumper on it to provide more protection since the overall durability (IMO) is behind the others. Aside - Perhaps the shock oil needs thickening on the Kraton? Although I find every RC needs new Shock oil if you are doing any kind of launching and sending.
CustomaRCupgrades in UK Carey loads of aftermarket parts for the Corally cars now, as shock standoffs in titanium, hindge pin holders and Ackerman (maybe more)
Arent the Dementor and Jambo similar to an Outkast? I see you specifically said 4s, while these support 6S. Based on my experience, with the Kronos V2 and the Punisher, these trucks are better setup from the factory for 4S.
Everything is tuff on the 4s arrma just the chassis is weak. A little bash bar that goes under the ski plate ro skid plate by 2mm thick could do a lot for it. I always felt their composite is too hard
Great, fair comparison. Having watched your videos of the Sketer i recall you saying that it was about $100 for the widening plus of course the extra for a bigger pinion (which a lot of reviewers feel it needs) and another chunk for bigger wheels. So you could easily put $200 into it to make it "right." That makes its value less of a cert, in spite of all the nice metal and high quality engineering it features. Im really hoping that the Kraton (and Outcast) JUST need a better motor mount and potentially something cheap and absorbing under the motor and then theyre as durable as the Sketer or even the Maxx. No doubt you'll let us know. Sadly, us guys in the UK will have to wait til Christmas to test out the hypothesis.
Install sorbothane under your motor and esc. I’ve done it on multiple rigs with GREAT SUCCESS. This material is hydrophobic and dissipates impacts and vibrations wonderfully!! It’s a shock obsorber for your electronics. It’s not cheap. But you don’t use much
the maxx is durable as all hell, but the terrible handling and electronics made it not a fun experience for me. I love my arrma 4s v2 rigs. would love to try corally, but no dealer nearby so would just have to order everything I suppose
I told everyone before the new 4s came out that it was going to break chassis..The horizon built 3s rigs break chassis and the new 4s is pushing a 3s chassis to its limits and beyond..Arrma dropped the ball big time by not using the Typhon 6s chassis imo.. Influencers will say its the best most durable rig arrma has ever made but its just not true..My buddy Chris was super mad at me because i told him not to preorder one saying how the chassis wont hold up.. People think i come off as a arrma hater for just speaking facts lol..I like arrma i always have..Im not a fan of horizon though..The 6s line is still great and getting good updates but the 3s/4s uses inferior plastics every since Horizon took over..In my old v1 outcast 4s video i compare the chassis to the hobbico built Senton and its easy to see the difference.. Another good video my friend
I just could never fall in love with Maxx... I wanted to like. I really did, but I recently sold it. Plenty durable for me. Just lacked the power that the Arrmas packed.
Im not into launching my RCs with unrealistic expectations 20+ feet in the airlol😂, so i say the kraton 4s is best for me. Easiest to drive, best looking, and awesome electronics!!! Kraton for the win!!!
@@RazorRC that's why people put fuel tubing under the piston. But I way thinking way not just buy the sledge shock body and spring instead of having the longer sledge shock shaft.
My Maxx v2 is king at bashing Kraton v2 king on a track Outcast v2 king of Stunts The team Corally I don't own but it looks to hold up good and awesome review .
That's what I don't like about Traxxas is that they say that hobby grade but it's really borderline on toy line everything is plastic and I've never liked the fact that Traxxas uses plastic driveshafts I always seem to break those
I mean.... 20-30ft jumps landing on flat surface and you complain about the maxx slaping the chassis ? 😅 really ? (Not a traxxas fanboy here but man....)
That thing broke 5 chassis within 3 weeks? Nah, I'll pass. Then I don't trust slipper clutches either. My ranking would be Sketer 1st Maxx second and the Arrma 4s third. But that's just me hehe. Thanks for the video 👍
The Arrma 3s is exactly the same vehicle but with a 3s brushless esc and motor. We have 4 3s Arrmas in our group and every time they break. Driving performance is so bad. I hate these cars. The Maxx v2 drives like a boat but is durable. Dont know the sketer in real life.
Even though Corallys are pretty available including spare parts in the UK, quite a few bashers tried them but broke them to easy. This was mainly the Kronos XTR including the 2022 version, plus a few Sketers. Corallys are not that popular in the UK due to durability.
You dont own one.. Come on guy.. Saying a few sketers broke then saying they aren't durable is horse shit..The maxx breaks also..Is is also not durable? Smh lol..The UK bashers like Talbot and his flock have a personal vendetta against TC because of Claire fighting with the customer service rep at TC.. Similar to how they all hated Arrma for many years and used to break them on purpose and then call them junk lol
the Sketer is gaining popularity here in the UK, Custom RC is now doing some really good upgrades for them. I think with some bigger wheels, wide conversion CRC do, plastic links and titanium shock stand offs it's probably as durable as the Maxx then. As Razor RC says you could also put full 1:8th electronics in it. Looking forward to seeing some future builds of these, maybe some different body styles and a wing could look good as well
@@Luke-en2tk Wait, bigger wheels and wider stance makes it more durable????? Lol..JK man i understand you.. it will benefit from upgraded links and stand offs(small potatoes)..The wheels and wide kit helps for stunts thats for sure..Just changing the wheels on mine and backflips are a breeze..I never changed my standoffs tho..What i did was run foam taped under the body shell ..Works like a cushion no breaks
dude do you realize that over 90% of all rcers don't jump there trucks 20-30 ft in the air and do 62 flips. your tests and reviews are solely for the less the 10% of us. plus most bashers have been in the hobby for over 10 yrs +
you don't have to jump them 30 feet high, that's why I talk a lot about how they drive on the ground, i.e. the Sketer has better handling than the other two. "most bashers have been in the hobby for over 10 years+" -- OK, cool but what does that even have to do with anything?
Hello. I have a very stupid question... What is the name of the place you drive? I mean is it RC tracks, Motocross, BMX etc? I want to try to get my local politics members to make a similar "track" 😅🤦♂
Seems like there should be an outline for how hard you like to bash and high ridiculously high you jump. I think you’re inadvertently giving the wrong idea on what is the “best” by giving so much to handling in the air. I like jumping and tricks as much as the next guy, I grew up doing this. But how much of the life of the rc is spent actually in the air under control? Maybe 1/4 of its lifespan. Dinging an rc cause it can’t hold up to 500ft scale drops is immature. And I’m a Traxxas maxx guy, I know it can handle some thrashing. But I get more pleasure from getting results I can repeat and see consistently, I know a big part of the market of rc is pointed directly at the guy that loves breaking something every time they drive. That’s just the way they do it. I love watching them, I just can’t do the same to mine.
I want a Team Corraly. One of the only major brands I don’t own a vehicle from. The Skeeter matches what I want the best - but my goodness that body is ugly!
I’m getting a O4 as soon as $400 appears on its price. Skeeter is not in the same zip code to the Kraton or Outcast in performance or smile factor.....
Man I typically love the standard nature of your reviews and comparisons etc. This one not so much. Re value - Re access after a month of part replacement on the others lol. After market for maxx is also huge. I wouldn’t have that Kraton. And that skeeter just isn’t very durable either.

Razor - the Associated MT8 didn't even make the contest ? I still consider it a 4S truck, not a 6S
Dude I really like your videos.
to be honest though, all you want with a basher is durability so the maxx is king
Brilliant video razer rc nice truck love ❤️ the traxxas Xmax
CustomaRCupgrades in UK Carey loads of aftermarket parts for the Corally cars now, as shock standoffs in titanium, hindge pin holders and Ackerman (maybe more)
Great video razor!!
I wish Corally would release a 4S stunt truck, that would be my personal favorite!
that would be awesome!
Do you have a link to the parts you recommend for the krayton?
Stick some phoam or rubber under motor call it a day
So……buy all 3?
But you don’t use much
Look up impact mitigation foam.
@@billyhighfill I know the stuff - used to isolate hifi components. Great suggestion.
@@billyhighfill is that a rubber like substance ? Used on circuit boards ? I usually just use piece of a pitmat or yoga mat .
You could just use cheap wheel extenders .like 10 bucks .
the maxx is durable as all hell, but the terrible handling and electronics made it not a fun experience for me. I love my arrma 4s v2 rigs.
would love to try corally, but no dealer nearby so would just have to order everything I suppose
Considering you can get parts easy now after the kraton has been out. You could up that one point. It would be the winner lol.
Sketer for sure ..Maxx handles like a brick even with the wide kit lol
All you had to do is put max8 ESC in it and it transforms it massively.
Im not into launching my RCs with unrealistic expectations 20+ feet in the airlol😂, so i say the kraton 4s is best for me. Easiest to drive, best looking, and awesome electronics!!! Kraton for the win!!!
They should change their motto to “don’t try to blast it, only bash”
@@RazorRC ikr 😂
Thunder Tiger MT4-G3
Have you seen the maxx mod we're they put rear slege shocks on the rear of the maxx?
I heard of it, but I'd have to try it out. Shocks might be too long.
@@RazorRC that's why people put fuel tubing under the piston. But I way thinking way not just buy the sledge shock body and spring instead of having the longer sledge shock shaft.
that would be my suggestion, I hate fuel tubing on shocks, I'll make a video why one day...
Maxx strong 💪
Your right about the maxx the beating it takes always makes me laugh 😂 handling on the other hand 🤭🙄
did anyone else have overheating problems with the Keaton 4s?
Traxxas Maxx is definitely an Untouchable Beast
My Maxx v2 is king at bashing
Kraton v2 king on a track
Outcast v2 king of Stunts
The team Corally I don't own but it looks to hold up good and awesome review .
That's what I don't like about Traxxas is that they say that hobby grade but it's really borderline on toy line everything is plastic and I've never liked the fact that Traxxas uses plastic driveshafts I always seem to break those
My Kraton 4 out the box sounds like grinding plastic gears
Hello Razor😎🥇
I predict he picks the Skeeter
I mean.... 20-30ft jumps landing on flat surface and you complain about the maxx slaping the chassis ? 😅 really ? (Not a traxxas fanboy here but man....)
Going to go ahead and solve the 4S monster truck debate.......Tekno MT410 blows all others so far out of the water its not even close.
These big ass pricey cars need to come with head lights and rear lights I hate rc cars without lights shit just so plain
Arma outcast 4's
Mt8 is best.
The Sketer handles the worst in the air and the best on the ground and won, so I don’t quite see what you’re saying.
kaiju
I want a Team Corraly. One of the only major brands I don’t own a vehicle from.
The Skeeter matches what I want the best - but my goodness that body is ugly!
I’m getting a O4 as soon as $400 appears on its price. Skeeter is not in the same zip code to the Kraton or Outcast in performance or smile factor.....
It's alot closer to the performance of a dirtbike lol 😆
Man I typically love the standard nature of your reviews and comparisons etc.
This one not so much. Re value - Re access after a month of part replacement on the others lol. After market for maxx is also huge.
I wouldn’t have that Kraton.
And that skeeter just isn’t very durable either.
Sketer is a tank..Buy one you will like it for sure
Lol max!
LOL. Arrma claims the best for tough!
