700 Tread Wear...Wow. Well, I guess that's good because where I live I see so many of the Expeditions/Tahoes with bald worn tires because the owners don't have $1600 spare dollars for a new set of tires.
If you can't afford to put tires on the vehicle you could not afford the vehicle to begin with. Treadwear ratings don't mean a whole lot because it's related to that tire manufacture there's no standardized test.
At 3:10, People buy the Max version because it has a lot more cargo room behind the 3rd row. Growing up my dad had a Suburban, then a Yukon XL, then an Expedition EL, and now he just bought another Expedition EL. When you have people sitting in all three rows of seats on a road trip, there is just not enough room for the entire family's luggage behind the 3rd row in the regular length versions. He won't even consider buying a Tahoe or a regular length Expedition because they just aren't as practical.
My grandparents went from a suburban to an excursion, and traded it in after backing into things every trip. Wish they would remake that behemoth with a 360 camera and 7.3l powerstroke.
We bought one in Dec 2019. Bought a 2019 XLT with the 302A tech package. The dealer gave us lifetime powertrain warranty provided we get our maintenance done at QuickLane and majors (20k/60k/etc) done at the dealer. Bought the mid-level warranty on all electrical and tech for $50\mo. MSRP was $59k as driven. Walked out for $52k plus the warranty. I came from an F150 (and wife had a 2015 Tahoe). He’s right about the interior and materials, but he’s also right that the thing hauls. The 3.7eco is fantastic. Getting 21.5mpg on road trips, 17.1 overall average. Put 4500 miles on so far. Can I just say that I LIVE THIS THING. We named it the Battlewagon. PS: my first car was a 93 Bronco which I lifted and kept for 13 years... this thing is comparable as far as ride height and command of the road. PSS: drove the explorer... all I can say is WOW. $50k MSRP and the thing was a total joke. Terrible vehicle in my humble opinion.
(r/RoastMe) Ok- I'll take the bullet ...AMA . I bought a brand new Expedition Max Platinum last May. Exact model that is in this video except mine is blue. I thought this video did an excellent job of highlighting the pros and cons. Overall I am very pleased with it. A couple of things for anyone that cares... - I wanted a body on frame true truck. I traded in a 2013 F-150 FX4 and was very happy with that truck but now have different needs. - Hauling- Really great in this truck. Others have correctly pointed out that a Pacifica or a van does this better. This is true but see my other points. Towing... 4Wd... etc. I move my kids around with friends... hockey gear... in the dead of winter without problem and can even take some snowmobiles. - AWD/4WD- this is what I like best about this truck. You can select RWD or 4A which is 4 auto/AWD. You can drive in any conditions in 4A (including bone dry asphalt) as opposed to my previous F150 which was either 2WD or 4WD. Meaning I can set it and forget it. Especially great for rain and intermittent ice. Very underrated feature and critical for safety. If you want traditional 4WD you need to select "Mud/Ruts" or "Sand" in the Expedition and then it acts as if the center diff is locked. - Electronic Locking rear Diff- It isn't a true mechanical locker if you look it up but it works decently in a pinch. Especially in heavy snow and some mild mud. -Towing- Up to 9200 lbs which I use to move a boat around, small camper, snowmobiles as well as other things to help at a family farm. -Why not something else? What I originally wanted was a Land Cruiser. I would agree it is the superior truck but it just doesn't have the same interior space for families and road trips. I keep tools and other items in the center console... the little refrigerator (cool box) just wasn't a trade off worth it for me and the 2nd and 3rd row are much more usable in the expedition. I am 6'4 260 and other vehicles just don't cut it. Yes I am the oversized American that deserves your derision... -Why not GM? I think this is a fair comparison. The Suburban is 3 inches longer FYI. Personally I like Fords. I like the EcoBoost as it is fast AF but I totally understand why you would disagree and take a V8. Also, the 2nd and 3rd row are much better in the Ford. Don't believe me- check it for yourself. Finally I find the 4Wd system better in the Ford than the GM twins. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
@@chltmdwp Couple of reasons . The main one was availability and service. The navigators were/are harder to get ahold of. The ending, on the previous video he said it was direct injection only, but he corrected it in this video as one of the commenters from the previous video pointed out that it had both direct and port injection just like the Navigator.
I rented an Expedition for a week in Colorado. It was fantastic. I don't really need an Expedition for daily use. But anytime I take a road trip, I'm renting one. That turbo engine was flawless and powerful going up thru the Million Dollar highway, from 3000 feet to 11300 feet in elevation. I may buy an Expedition MAX to live in full time. $80000 home on wheels. lol
Agreed, I would get the Chrysler Pacifica if I want a high end multi passenger vehicle. For an all terrain 4x4 for cargo hauling and towing I'd just get a baseline F-150 or Dodge Ram.
@@jcpoiuy if you want both in the same vehicle unless you need something the size of the Ford Expedition the two oldest tried and true Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) that are going on 60 years old are the Land Rover and it's counterpart the Range Rover and the Jeep Wagoneer and it's counterpart the Jeep Cherokee/Grand Cherokee. Essentially the same size as the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the Ford Explorer the Rovers and the Jeeps had more years to perfect their vehicles and earn customer satisfaction. The Rovers and the Jeeps have both been used by Military and Law Enforcement and performed well in extreme conditions.
@Peder Hansen with Chrysler Corporation their vehicle lines from the bottom up were Dodge Division were generally baseline the mid level step upwards was the Plymouth Division before that division was shut down with the government bailout and the flagship luxury line was Chrysler. Been looking for something suitable for camping. You could fit a rooftop tent on this as well as sleep inside with 2nd and 3rd row down. If you get an XLT trim, more in the range of $50k. With people trying to avoid hotels and airplanes due to COIVID 19, this might gain more interest.
At 5 years old now, considering the depreciation, these things are quite a tempting value proposition compared to the suburban which inexplicably costs much more at similar age and mileage. I’ve seen very nice 1 owner 4x4 max limited examples with great maintenance records selling for around 40k. With a warranty you’d be buying a solid used vehicle
3:15 a limo company would get the MAX version for taking six people and their cargo to the airport for a two week vacation. I had to do that in an Escalade ESV and we packed that thing to the gills with almost no room remaining.
What is your opinion of the Honda plant closing in England that produces the Type R?Obviously production and availability. Where/if will it be produced, quality? Really enjoy your videos.

I guess i'd have to listen to what the lincoln has in it to know better, but my sound system is superb for me. Could use some more wattage and more capable subwoofer. Surround is more spacious and sweet, than stereo.

Surprised Jim Hackett didn't get in this thing and put some of his design background into it. Give some pointers at least. Functionality trumps that I guess.
Could you comment on the headlights? Ford in general has poor rated lights by IIHS, and as someone who drives a ton at night on country roads, lights is a critical consideration. Thanks!
I love the channel, but I guess nobody can make a video about a Ford Expo that I'll find interesting enough watch all the way through. Well, perhaps Pelagea ASMR could.
This thing costs more than the median income of most households in the US and is still full of plastic and that infotainment looks to be from 2012! Jesus Christ, it’s like an economy car that forces you to pay 80,000. Even the base price of 57,000 is too much for all the plastic and outdated tech
We have 5 kids that play baseball, basketball, football whatever we need the max. We actually down sized from an Excursion and at times our max is to small. BTW an Excursion could tow 12,000 lbs.
If I were to get this itd be a fully loaded 65k fx4, but Id still have a really hard time justifying that over a similarly spec’d F150 and saving $15k (5k from msrp difference + 10k from typical half ton truck discounts and incentives)
Geese do you like transmissions like these are the future... In one way these transes have much aggressive primary gears and sometimes 4/5 overdrive ratios that results in better acceleration, fuel eco, better towing in steep inclines etc..... You said gear hunting that's a serious let down with this trans as well as Acura's... Is that a programming issue?
Great review, but you should've been more critical of Ford for not offering a V8 engine as an option. I feel that they're shoving the turbos down people throat whether they like them or not with not that much fuel efficiency.
Bang & Olufsen is the Bose of Europe. Nothing that company has ever made sounds particularly good. They use to have some beautiful looking equipment that was very well made. Now it is more of an marketing company.
If Ford just put the 5.0 V8 in the expedition, updated the interior and exterior, and offered a true off-road package for it, this SUV would dominate the market in America. I feel like the fact theres no V8 option hurts the Expedition a lot and why ppl jump over to the Tahoe or Seqouia/Land Cruiser. Its little stuff like this that Ford just misses the mark on that would really put them ahead of everyone else... not everyone likes the twin turbo ecoboost V6 with mediocre at best reliability.

@@vincentlee9638 more like new day model
The ending, on the previous video he said it was direct injection only, but he corrected it in this video as one of the commenters from the previous video pointed out that it had both direct and port injection just like the Navigator.
Ro0ster yea. 👍 it’s the same 3.5 as the normal f-150 so makes sense.
Smooth review. Appreciate the honesty. We will see these on the road in 20 years I'm sure.
$80000 home on wheels. lol
The shot from the interior of the moonroof operation is on point
This was re-uploaded because Ford wasn't satisfied with how Max Girth V1 didn't exceed 200.5 cubic inches.

I want one but, I don't see $80,000 worth of metal or a use to justify this over a van.
Agreed, I would get the Chrysler Pacifica if I want a high end multi passenger vehicle.
For an all terrain 4x4 for cargo hauling and towing I'd just get a baseline F-150 or Dodge Ram.
@@roya.cathcartjr.5042 But what if you wanted both... in the same vehicle... that is what this is. With some trade-offs of course.
Before the 1960's their were four Divisions of the Chrysler Corporation with Chrysler being the Flagship Luxury brand Dodge and Plymouth were Midtrim Level lines on par with each other and DeSoto was the Baseline inexpensive models which fell out of favor with consumers who could get a similar looking Dodge model slightly better equipped for just a little more money.
The Chrysler Pacifica is the 2017 Flagship Luxury Minivan replacement for the Town and Country discontinued in 2016 the Chrysler Voyager is the mid-range replacement of the discontinued Plymouth Voyager Minivan and rounding out the bottom is the Dodge Caravan and it's slightly more optionally equipped Grand Caravan.
The GrandCaravan is comfortable and they're everywhere. Just picked one up with 39,000 miles around ~15k.
Amazingly, i've seen more MAX versions out on the streets, than regular ones. Although I'm totally with you, those are GIGANTIC.
yanboa GIGANTIC really? My F150 is 25 inches longer than this and I have the short bed.
For those that are worried about the price you'll probably see 20gs in discounts in the future etc. Fords known for rebates on rebates. Not a knock just the truth. Beautiful truck

+1 Respect for listening to Between the Buried and Me :)
What are we talking here?
$50,000.
No? $65,000
I'll take 4 in various colors. RIGHT
I've got a 17 and I just turned over 210,000 mi still on the original engine original transmission original timing chain I don't have any clatter from the phasers or the tensioners although I do plan on doing the timing chain soon just to make sure that I can take this vehicle for another hundred plus thousand miles
Been looking for something suitable for camping. You could fit a rooftop tent on this as well as sleep inside with 2nd and 3rd row down. If you get an XLT trim, more in the range of $50k. With people trying to avoid hotels and airplanes due to COIVID 19, this might gain more interest.
Great video again! Night shots/scenes were pretty
Props to ford for the cassette tape player on he back of the center console
That's not a tape player. It's a small screen.
Kent nooo
I heard on the radio just this morning that Ford GM and Chrysler have an excess of unsold SUVs.
Look for massive (and appropriate) discounts.
hey, i own the 2018 expy, the B&O system is pretty tight in my opinion. B&O was hired to tune the sound system and place the speakers. I guess i'd have to listen to what the lincoln has in it to know better, but my sound system is superb for me. Could use some more wattage and more capable subwoofer. Surround is more spacious and sweet, than stereo.
Respect for quick info update!
was waiting for Neil Young to start singing
Thanks for a great review. Nice to see one that doesn't feel like it was paid for by the car maker. I still like it after a test drive, and i appreciate your insight.
Love the intro tune! Did you make it? RUclipsrs everywhere love their [Upbeat pop music] so it's refreshing to hear something different.
I used to make the music, too much work so now I license the tracks.
Man car reviews have just become SUV SUV SUV. You still do a great job but it's just as boring as the market. You are the only one I still watch just because you do such a great job.
Almost a Country Music Award winning video!
Superb music choice for this vehicle!
Looked like sub-6 0-60. That's damn fast for huge SUV
Max Edition needs more piano black plastic. Thanks for v2. You're a good man!
I wonder 🤔 what's gonna happen with all this SUVs, when gas prices increase again... Remember 2008?
Might have to cop one. Always looking to Max my GIRTH
Silly question - what's the intro song? Great video, too dude
Wow, a positive Ford review. I’m surprised, then I looked at the comments and there’s all that Ford hate.
Another BTBAM shot, I love it. You going to see them in Milwaukee?
Probably wont make it. Saw them two years ago though
well very rarely di you guys give so much less negatives to a machine, so well done Ford
Country’s Donuts in Crystal Lake!!! Only the best donuts in the midwest.
V2!?
When it’s at its lowest depreciation I’ll get one
Hello @savagegeese please do some BMW reviews such as M240i, new Z4 and M850i, would like to see these underpinnings
10:20 👀Such a massive vehicle, perched upon that 2-post lift! All fail-safe mechanisms/systems better in good working order for you to stand comfortably under all that metal. 😳
Surprised Jim Hackett didn't get in this thing and put some of his design background into it. Give some pointers at least. Functionality trumps that I guess.
My god Goose, you're handsome in the dark.
elton john that’s not offensive at all
I miss the ford flex
As I asked in V1, what is the intro song please? You used to credit the music.
He stopped creditig the music as people would steal it and claim the copyright and he would get flagged for infringement
Meant to be used by 5'2" Soccer moms.
To fetch groceries because the kids are grown.
I find it funny when I see these tanks being driven by these tiny little women
Could you comment on the headlights? Ford in general has poor rated lights by IIHS, and as someone who drives a ton at night on country roads, lights is a critical consideration. Thanks!
I love the channel, but I guess nobody can make a video about a Ford Expo that I'll find interesting enough watch all the way through. Well, perhaps Pelagea ASMR could.
Jesus! $30K in options?! FML! Did I see BTBAM on the radio?! My man didn't know you were into that good shit! \M/
This thing costs more than the median income of most households in the US and is still full of plastic and that infotainment looks to be from 2012! Jesus Christ, it’s like an economy car that forces you to pay 80,000. Even the base price of 57,000 is too much for all the plastic and outdated tech
I thought the Expedition was not selling good since I didn't see it in NYC but they been driving the new Lincolns around Gradually.
why not show/review under the hood? It's one of the most innovative aspects of this vehicle, for better or worse...
Will you be doing a car review on the 2018 Honda Accord Touring 2.0T anytime soon?
Man that intro was so effing MURICA. 🇺🇸
Great video Savage! Yup this is a great looking capable, roomy , true SUV but way out of my price range and needs. The ultimate soccer moms car, lol.
very good review - thanks.
Frod should use this rear end for a street truck
This channel needs more Toddd.
80.000 $ plus nice its almost a bargain. Need to get one. *Sarcasm Off*
Make a SUV on the f250 platform. Put a the 7.3 gasser in it, and call it an Excursion
Or buy a MegaCab Ram 2500.
The intro sounds like Tom Petty. I like it.
If Rivian can do their 300 mile range Suv for Under 100k. Ford has something to worry about. Especially if they get Gm backing.
Great review, but you should've been more critical of Ford for not offering a V8 engine as an option. I feel that they're shoving the turbos down people throat whether they like them or not with not that much fuel efficiency.
I say that in every Ford video, they have one of the best V8s it should be in all their trucks. But its all about MPG games now.
If I needed a vehicle like this (and could afford it) I'd definitely go Ford over GM.
I’ll go for a gmc sierra
How does this compare to the Suburban? I found that to be crazy bouncy and wishy washy
