Susan and her voice talent were suddenly a persona on devices worldwide, thrusting her into accidental fame. Susan tells of how Siri was created and how she dealt with the fear of living up to the expectations of Siri.
Susan Bennett is a singer, musician, and voice talent. You may know her better as the original voice of Siri.

What an incredibly talented actor and speaker.
As a voice actor, she hit the lotto, but like she said, anonymity had its benefits. I think I'm taking the Australian accented Siri off and putting hers back on. If Siri is based off of Susan Bennett's voice, she can't be all bad. I wish Siri had Ms. Bennett's wonderful personality and humor, instead of just her voice, too. I wouldn't mind carrying around a friend, rather than an object.

She got her regular work-for-hire rate for a random project that became far more wide-reaching-and profitable-than anything else she's ever done. I'm hoping she can find fairer compensation by doing appearances like this one.

How do you not know if Apple used your voice? And how is she not getting any perpetuity on every device sold?!
Because it's not a commission based job, it's an hour paid job and you sign documents that allow companies to purchase those sounds and manipulate them into what they need which is what apple and every other company did/does.
Joe Silverstein also, the company she originally recorded those sounds for wasn't Apple. It was a totally different company that Apple later bought. She was paid by the original company for her work and the recordings were put on the shelf for later use. Then, Apple bought the company (and its recordings) and decided to use her voice. Nothing underhanded was done here...
