This has turned into one of my most night time relaxing video channels. I don't do big spraying (only small, fine airbrush work) but I love watching knowledgeable craftsmen doing their thing. Great stuff - I can do a few crafty technical things like this, that look 'easy' but when other people try them, thinking there is no zen magic to it - it all goes to sheeeit. Brilliant. Thanks.
Axalta has changed that process from your past standox experience. They have made a clear base coat carrier that mixes with candy dye that makes these colors a breeze. I’ve doubled the strength as well with Axalta’s systems but by the data sheet they recommend to cut the reducer down to strengthen the color. The viscosity isn’t the same as what you use. Awesome job as usual Brian!
Without a doubt, Top-notch Craftsmanship. This trick with adding double the amount of red is priceless. Amazing job there, Brian. Never heard of it before, thanks for educating me. Love from Germany
We recently purchased a 2003 Explorer with a pooched in corner on one of the urethane bumper covers. The paint is a beautiful factory candy red.. and its chipped at the pooch. After I pull the cover and heat the dent-in, and push it back out, I'm going to have a cluster of chips and cracks to sand out, and leave me with an area to re-color and blend in. This video is PERFECT!! Just the hints I need to move forward in confidence with the repair... which will be in the spring after it warms up.
If I was edging out that fender I would have just painted the whole thing along with a sprayout panel. This way you can check your color on the car before doing the blend. One thing that helps keep the "tails" down is mask off the replacement panels to do your mid coat and first layers of tri coat. Then pull the masking and continue the blend, that way you hopefully dont have to fight a dark edge blending out the panels. Each paint system and painter will give you a different method to do the same thing.
If I had a issue with ground coat blends shouwing up on tri coat, I will mix my wetbed and ground coat 1:1 and wet out the edge like you did, then apply the mid coat. Doing that weakens the color enough to not show up but strong enough to soften the edge. Greta video, jelly of the uv light for chips and the pie. 👍
Nice work! I can't imagine why the owner didn't bother fixing the dent in the hood and rear left door though. Those really becomes visible when the panels between turned out so great.
Wow, this episode broke many rules. Car facing the wrong way away from the exhaust, doubling up mixing paint, sanding in the booth, combining base with the tint. Amazing job.
Just done a 3 coat red kandy on a GM. I found the groundcoat colour recommended (a dark olive green) left the shade a little light compared to original when blended, and previous base was black. I then started again using a black groundcoat. It came out pretty close to original but very slightly lighter to me (not to joe normal). Close enough. The process seemed a bit easier than this colour.
I love your channel. It has so many great ideas and techniques. On a slightly different topic, when dealing with rock chip repair, how do you know when your paint is set enough to begin sanding? Assuming the temp and humidity are fairly normal (72 deg F?). How long should you wait between coats? How do you tell if it’s ready? Keep up the great work!
Great job Brian. Been watching for years brother always top notch info. I looked in description never saw the clearbase. Can you give some info? I dont do alot of blending but some here lately have needed it would like a heads up on what works best for you.
Hey Brian man good looking out I ordered up some of the color blend .... gonna try it out. What kind of primer would you recommend that can be dtm or over some paint? I've tried afew and ended up just taking it down and redoing it . I know you use sealer alot. But I don't have a booth n I usually have to sand alittle imperfections. Brain I want to thank you for yall you do brother. I still rock my paint society shirt, keychain, and sticker on my truck. Any idea if you will come out with more merchandise? My sister does those things I may get her make me some shirts if you don't mind if there isn't anymore in the works. Thanks again. Happy Holidays and wish you and the Family the best brother.
Well job done! Apart from this maybe you'd like to show off and/or talk about the white colors and some peeling issues due to UV. As you know there are a lot of makes and models, especially Honda, Toyota and Hyundais suffer from white paint peeling off in large sections and showing off the grey primer underneath. Is seems like a widespread issue on modern cars. Thanks!
Great video Brian! Learned a lot from that one! Brian you should try to use Sikkens waterbase paint on this colors, they cover much easier and smoother then the solvent line. Water base is a game changer 💪🏻 By the way, milwaukee make a great sun gun and with a decent price
That looks amazing. I have a guitar I'm looking to paint in a similar color. I have some HOK apple red candy (pre-mixed and reduced), my preferred clear, and I'm wondering what else I could use to maybe get something similar?
Excellent job Brian that looks amazing. My only complaint is at the end we didn’t get a close up of the rock chip and dent UV repair. I would love to see it out in the sun. I believe you that it’s fixed! But you peaked my curiosity and left me hanging lol. If you could please make a little post about it, if it really works like that that is a GAMECHANGER! Thank you for everything. I really enjoyed this one.
Can you please do a video on the different situations you use UV putty qnd maybe even UV primer. Just got the light you recommended and some uv putty for Christmas, thanks!
@PaintSociety I'm surprised your paint rep haven't told you about them. I use abp as well and are a game changer. I guess you don't really need them since acura only has 1 red tricoat color
Great job and very informative video. Is that tint a true candy dye? I'm wondering how this procedure would work to repair true candy paint jobs? Fyi, Gumout carburetor cleaner works just as well as Naked Gun cleaner as they both contain the main ingredient of acetone and costs about $4 per can.
Brian, I ordered the Colad and I have a Dental Blue light. I was thinking this should work on loose crowns too that I occasionally get in my mouth. I'll let you know buddy
Great vid starting out with some small areas to practice on my Street rod and have a question.Would you know the paint code to the 1970 SS Nova interior dash /glovebox/black color code and is the windshield cowl the same color code? or something close?Just replaced the cowl and want to spray both. Thanks
Wow. What a process. Very time consuming paint job. You’re a good man taking care of those chips and small ding. I think the blend turned out beautiful. Take care my man.
It's probably just me though. Last summer as a apprentice I prepped three candy red trucks back to back and watched them all get messed up. Had to have another painter come in and get them done. I can't unsee the orange 🤣

That uv putty is a game changer Brian 😮
That reverse blend, chasing the tail ect, totally makes sense, thanks for the heads up Brian. 👌
Its a game changer for these blends !
Paint society, change the game big time on my favor thanks master brian, master, master
Another great job and application tips.
Awesome advice with chasing the tail and adding both colours together for a better blend thanks for sharing your knowledge very much appreciated 🔥
I loved the outro music! Very helpful video!!
On my way to learn how to do my own body and paintwork..taught by Brian. From over the big pond.
Great demo !! …. I like 👍🏻 the product that fills the Chips

Sounds great!
My old boss and I used this system, we never used 065, 070 or any of the binders or clears, never had a coverage problem or matching issues.
excellent job. You should start doing custom candy paint jobs.
Beautiful job pal and thanks for the video!
Nice tips!
You should always do a spray out card on this color
Beautiful, this is my dream color for the Integra.. 😎
You and me both!
That was incredible, thanks for sharing your hard earned knowledge
My pleasure!
Nice work! I can't imagine why the owner didn't bother fixing the dent in the hood and rear left door though. Those really becomes visible when the panels between turned out so great.
I like that. Chasing the tail.. especially on red
That term saved all my red tricoats once I learned it
If she's in a hot red dress 💃 you would think guys would already be chasing the tail... apply it to painting as well... mmmm it's a no 🧠 er
Best blending video I've watched
Thank you!
Wow great match Brian!!
Yes it was! Ty!
Wow, this episode broke many rules. Car facing the wrong way away from the exhaust, doubling up mixing paint, sanding in the booth, combining base with the tint. Amazing job.
Transmission busted. Will only go in the booth in forward and no one help me push it when i record
I really enjoy your content. Great job as always Brian!!!!

I’m not a painter, but that was cool to watch.
Damn that looks badass. Wow.
That was amazing.
Thumbed.
Great information here thanks man!!

you know some work is getting done when the pizza comes out.
Awesome thanks a mill

Hi. I can email you photos if you like
Or IG dm
Can you please do a video on the different situations you use UV putty qnd maybe even UV primer.

Hye bryan!!!!! Hope you and your family Is doing well... ❤❤❤❤ why didnt you use a darker primer..which would make the red a bit darker
Yes this is still a good idea
Your welcome only time I use that light grey is if am spraying light colors and visa versa@@PaintSociety
Or since you already edged the fender, why didn't you put a couple of coats of base on it like I've seen you do elsewhere?
Looks amazing. Do you guys not use the sec toners?
Never heard of them
@PaintSociety I'm surprised your paint rep haven't told you about them. I use abp as well and are a game changer. I guess you don't really need them since acura only has 1 red tricoat color

Its most likely just a tint but not a true kandy
Super glue will fill the chips in a blend panel too. Put a drop in a chip, spray some accelerator on it and sand it flat in seconds.
Great idea
@@PaintSociety I learned that one from a Sherwin Wiliams rep almost 20 years ago
Rouge flamme what a great colour 😅
Question? What’s the best most user friendly hobbiest gun? One that someone can grow with in stages from beginner to expert.
good job
Thank you! Cheers!

Nice video
Any reason you didn't tint your primer? Is that needed for these tri coats in red?
Damn you are keeping an eye out aren't you? I'm calling you out on my next video ❤
Lol sorry i dont follow lol
I did the same video yesterday about the different layers. Good call we are bringing this social media following in the right direction.
I'm looking at painting my car myself. I'm going to get the dv1 basecoat, will I be able to spray my clear with it too?
words every painter has said before, " i think this car has been painted before
Top tip 👌🏻👍🏻
will Colad putty require any kind of U.V. light or be specific to the Colad Putty
Great job. What you put on the floor in the booth? Thanks
Like90gofast pigmat
❤❤❤ Nice
I've seen you use clear base as a wet bed, in other videos, to help smooth out the blend. Why wasn't it needed on this job?
Mazda 46V
Wow. What a process. Very time consuming paint job. You’re a good man taking care of those chips and small ding. I think the blend turned out beautiful. Take care my man.
Thanks 👍
How should you prep a clear coat for a single stage urethane...
Harbor Freight sells that same light under the Braun company. About half the cost of the one you mentioned.
I got a $12 dollar UV light on ebay that hardens the putty in 5 seconds also. This UV putty IS a game changer!!!!
Great vid but it won't work for me because we use water, same paint line but it takes about what you said, around 8 coats of pearl.
Oh man! Sucks
What gun are you using for base/top coat in this video? Thank you
Check link in description
Chips are the bane of my existence 🤬 i will check out the uv maybe it will save the day
brian i have a question about spraying a flake
Probably easier to just include the question in question.
My first pearl red is in a couple days😅😅
Toyota 3u5 have 3 colors before clear
Pizza 🍕 and paint 🎨
Lol
@@PaintSociety “don’t overthink it “it’s just pizza “🍕 !
No char on the bottom of that pizza? Shame. But that is my favorite color, hope to paint my 1980 Corvette that color.
Yea i like easy bake lol!
The hood fender and door seem to be a little bit misaligned
Way easier than blending white pearl.
Still looks so very orange Brian 😭
Its a Perfect blend and color match
@PaintSociety there's no such thing as a perfect color match..
It's probably just me though. Last summer as a apprentice I prepped three candy red trucks back to back and watched them all get messed up. Had to have another painter come in and get them done. I can't unsee the orange 🤣
My dentist fills holes with that UV shit.
Its Not that hard..
Gotta love comments like this that bring absolutely no value to the channel
And I've watched an ass load of them
