Watching a movie with Greg Alba must be like traveling with kids... Like, "Are we there yet, dad? Are we there? How much longer..? What time it is? Are we there yet??" :S
Everyone was expecting this supposed to be MMA movie but we only get that in glimpse of flashback lol
I've been a fan of you guys for years. Plus I'm a movie fanatic myself. I see you guys enjoyed the original Road House. I'm suggesting another overlooked hidden gem you guys should check out. I grew up being a huge Van Damme fan and this is probably the best Sheldon Lettich directed movie not starring him. It's called Only the Strong starring Mark Dacascos. You can find it on Max. FYI he also played Eric Draven on the Crow television series following the film.
Conor: What's the script?
Director: Just be yourself
Lmao facts
They took and set him loose in a random bar.
And that's why I wanted to see it
Same with Post Malone 😂
Just Conor on coke, being Florida man.
Fun Fact: The Cinematographer who shot this movie is Henry Braham, who shot GOTG Vol. 2 & 3 and The Suicide Squad and he did pretty well with the fights though the directing and editing in some scenes were a bit weird looking
He is also going to be the cinematographer for Superman film directed by James Gunn.
Figuresd
Also shot The Flash.
@@a7000zo ehh that films cgi was a disaster so it wasn’t his fault
I agree, I feel like the effort and choreography was well worked on. But some of the sways with the movement made me dizzy 😅
Reboots, remakes and sequels nothing is original anymore but I'm here for Jake Gyllenhaal the man is versatile.
I mean, after 100 years of film every movie you can go back and find something similar. There's room for original and remakes. I like it all.
That’s a huge hyperbole
bellyaching about reboots, remakes, and sequels sure as hell is unoriginal 😉
Honestly I am cool with remakes which do enough differences. Such as Disturbia and Rear Window.
Not gonna stop me from watching it . There so many movies made 30 or 40 years ago that could have been so much better if they were made with today's technology
This is a lot better than I expected. Jake Gyllenhaal did a pretty good job. Patrick Swayze would be proud.
Only so much you can do to incorporate the original, but Jake was awesome and I enjoyed Connor
Connor 😂@@time2chill121
It has its quirky charm
Conor McGregor’s delivery of “Hello baaaaaand!” won’t be leaving my head anytime soon.😂
That comedic relief biker guy tho. He was really good!
Moe is the star off the movie!!
Arturo Castro, de Centroamérica (Guatemala) para el mundo.
He was funny asf in The Menu too
3:30 Coy's change of expression, when Jake takes off his shirt for the first time 😭🤝🏼
Same look my wife (32-B) got when Sydney Sweeney took off hers 😂😂😂
@@clevelandcbi is that your wife's bust size?
Sydney Sweeney was in this
Or are you talking about 'Anyone but you'?
The best part is Dalton driving the thugs to the hospital. I just laughed so hard. Garrett Warren choreographed the heck out of every fight scene. If you watch the behind the scenes that's on youtube it's like a magic trick with Warren setup up this crazy yet clever system of how to create a brawl fight.
I adore the decision to make Dalton an actual psychopath 😂, and i love that Knox seems to sense it in a way. That's what i think the "there's something wrong with you" moment means.
Dalton is the complete opposite of a psychopath.
He's not a psychopath though, psychopaths take pleasure in harming others and causing trouble. He just has anger issues
The plot of Roadhouse couldn't be less simple guys, c'mon. Bad guy has the town under his thumb, wants the road house for the property so he can tear it down and build a resort, Dalton comes to town to stop said bad guy and his goons from taking over the Roadhouse. That's literally it. It's a classic western story archetype. Idk if you are just overthinking it or what Greg.
Agreed
It is You could just have Sam Elliott read the entire plot out loud for the memes honestly both for the Western feel and the Roadhouse creds.
@@Qeeedbeem hahaha yeah for real
I couldn’t stop laughing when McGregor was on the Screen 😂😂😭😭😭
SAME!!!! I genuinely don't think I've laughed out loud that many times in one movie in a while, everything about his performance was so freaking funny
@@skylarberry3754"Who put these fookin bikes in me way?" 😂
LOVE how it turned into Nightcrawler Jake for a min
The soft, funny biker guy, however you would describe him was awesome
If there was a stuffed polar bear in this one, it would have fell on him 100%.😂
I still can’t hear “Roadhouse” without immediately thinking of Peter Griffin. Lol.
It was a fun movie. If anyone expected anything more that’s there problem let’s be honest it’s road house 😂
I gotta say, since everyone’s been complaining about studio reboots and remakes I went into this blindly and a huge fan of Jake, and to my surprise i enjoyed it throughly some of the action was to over the top but it was very enjoyable
I never seen the original so this movie for me was absolutely solid .
I just commented the same sentiments as you. This movie was solid fun for me.
It's kind of a beautiful tribute to Patrick Swayze since Jake Gyllenhaal appeared in Donnie Darko that costarred Patrick Swayze.
Oh my that’s right!
nothing beautiful about it
@@phish311420 yep they took a fun movie made it too serious and made Dalton suicidal
I totally forgot about that!! Love that.
@@cjmk5923I know right, a character that suffers from mental health issues is so awful isn't it
Best part of the review is how much coy is gushing over the workout regiment of Jake Gyllenhaal
Yeah right 😏
He worked out a deal with a steroid guy
What? Who taught you shapes? was my favorite part. I actually laughed out loud for a long time.
I honestly don’t know what people want if a fun movie like this is critiqued like it was supposed to be a masterpiece of cinema.
because they still do stuff good and bad.... and the bad is easily fixable...
I feel like the relationship with the music was missing. I feel a connection with the music in the original cause we have the friendship between Dalton and the leader of the band which for me deepened the connection with the music in the film making it a more intimate part of the story. In this there are multiple bands and we have no idea who they are or what they’re about and that might’ve been what was missing Greg?
Oh, that’s what I was afraid of. Canadian here… Thanks for preparing me.
I totally agree! The soundtrack is so integral to the original and this could have had any music subbed in and it would not matter
thats a very good point.
You guys cheering for the crocodile had me in tears!! Such a good reaction.
Doug Liman also directed 'Go' which I think needs a bit of love from younger generations. Great movie and soundtrack.
Saw someone on twitter point out how you can see Dalton’s stab wound breathing after he “kills” Knox man that attention to detail is just insanely good to me lol
What would you give this movie out of 10?!
Seeing the movie is quite divided amongst audiences & critics
The roadhouse owner's acting was horrible... Character development was ehhhhh...And the movie got a little out of hand (as expected) but it was entertaining and Jake/Conner did great. 7/10
It was a 6.5/10 for me. I found Conor McGregor painful to watch. His line delivery was abysmal-like Ronda Rousey bad. Jake Gyllenhaal hard carried the film.
8/10
4.
5/10 mediocre at best. Subpar acting and dialogue and a lot of unnecessary CGI as well. I totally understand why Amazon wanted this as streaming only. Would've felt like a ripoff seeing this in theaters
Great review as always...
I really enjoyed the movie...didn't think I would but surprised me...
Reminds me I did some work a few years back in Northern Wisconsin and it's funny how there the local coffee shop was called "The Coffee Shop"...local law firm..."The Law Firm"...local gas company..."The Gas Company"...I kid you not...very nice and welcoming people...I actually do miss that place...
Thanks again...
Coy and his enthusiasm haha❤️❤️ you guys are always entertaining haha…McGregor haha
There you go. Been waiting on this review from you guys specifically.
Coy brings one of the best duos and trios on this channel
You had Mixed Martial Arts fighter in this and the original you had Terry Funk the wrestler battling Dalton which was so good. Also Dalton vs. Marshal Teague's character where Marshall is a real-life martial artist. In the I Am Patrick Swayze documentary Marshall talked about not being impressed by him due to him having a dance background but once he saw Patrick do that back spin kick clean on his face he had mad respect for him.
I'm still happy about how much they liked the original, that was awesome : D
That’s your DCU Batman right there James Gunn. Make it happen!
+antwananthony4731
Nah
I loved this remake . They didnt try to copy, but also didnt make it too far
the thing with Conor is people who start as actors normally work their way up to big movies and you hardly see their early work whereas celebrities from other fields who move over to acting have their early work out there for all to see. look at Arnie (bodybuilder) as you said, early Rock (wrestler)movies or Vinnie Jones (soccer player) in lock stock, gone in 60 seconds and his iconic role as juggernaut. now they are all reasonably good actors.
Greg man I’ve been a fan of yours since 2015-2016 you look in the best shape I’ve seen you in, good to see you happy and healthy man 👏❤️
Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the most Versatile actor I've ever seen... Hats off to him for building the God D@mn Body and Learn Real Martial art to Make those Fight Scenes more real Compelling & Awesome..!!
Loved it.!
Thank you so much for making this video! Watching this video is the only way I can watch this movie with an audience, unfortunately. love the reaction and I love you guys!
They just had my boy Connor show up to set coked up as usual😭😭🤣🤣 wild lmao but enjoyed it!!
Nah he showed up randomly
I mean he got stabbed like 20 times so it’s understandable.
He actually stayed alive watch till end of credits he breaks out of hospital
It’s just pure joy watching both of your reactions to this movie. It took the whole watching experience up 10x. The reaction to Jake’s abs had me in on the floor 😂
Saw this movie Friday night; bought white short shorts Saturday morning. Still practicing the walk.
You've been practicing the McGregor walk
@@dreblazer23yt Only when I rock out with my thighs out
"I did 2 bicep curls before filming" 😂😂
MacGregor in this is legit the Lucky Charms Terminator
I honestly actually really liked this and wouldn't mind if they had a part 2. About what idk 🤷♂️ just bring back jake and give us a cool simple story like this one, give us more of this sick shots and yea I here for it..thank you Greg and coy for the reaction 💪
15:56 His abs are a character, lol.
26:31 Can we say "Jake Reacher"? Lol. 😂
Literally just finished the movie. Good timing
Enjoyed it, but I think it would have worked better as a sequel: like Jake was Swayze' son, happen to have learned from his father to fight. Dad died in a stupid bar fight and Jack choose to go throught the MMA road. So, being offered to be a "bouncer" for the Road House would have make is life full circle, taking the mantle of his father in the end. Different place, same job, than Great sequel for a 30 years old movie... :)
I actually thought that too.
I love how much people act like the original is some untouchable masterpiece. It’s a cool movie but relax. This reboot was great.
Ppl are entitled to there opinion thou as are you its called free speech something were losing just lately
Was much better than I expected it to be. Everyone was great in the movie,, its worthy of a second imo!!!
Please God nooooooooo....
I'd watch it!
@@JohnDAmico-ci2hzwhy? You’re not obligated to watch 😑 what’s the point in denying something other people love , because YOU don’t ? 😑
That’s such a dismissive, narcissistic, and overall toxic mindset 🙄🤦🏻♂️
Everyone? Conor McGregor was awful. Great fighter sure but he can't act. At all
@@ryanyates4124 he wasn't acting.
@ReelRejects These Autofull gaming chairs are awsome. Have it my self. Keep up with the greeat reactions.
This movie is so crazy and a lot of fun to watch! Jake Gyllenhaal was great in this movie! 👍
Finally! :D
Looking forward to seeing your reaction to this movie.
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
I think I like this one just as much as the original. It wasn't trying to duplicate it, it did its own thing. Good movie all round.
Cheaaa
That funny guy with the bad guys reminds me of Michael Penas character from antman!😂
Thank you! I was wondering who that guy reminds me of😂
My girlfriend and I watched the original then the new one and her review for the reboot was "Needed more boobs" 😂
Really enjoyed this film. Great reaction guys.
Such a good film and it has similarities to the original 1989 film. You really have that Silent Warrior type character with few words similar to Patrick Swayze's Dalton and the mysterious past to Dalton what really happened which we get to see while the original film you see Dalton talk about it with Wade Garrett not showing what really happened. With Knox he has that similar personality to Marshall Teague's character but Knox is more unhinged by making the character little different. Funny thing is the original film had a direct to video sequel called "Road House 2: Last Call" which is a forgettable film that doesn't get talked about and Patrick Swayze was asked to reprise the role but opted not to return for not liking the script and his character gets killed off with a weird flashback of sorts.
I absolutely loved this movie. GOOD old fashioned 90s movie remake which felt 90s.
I basically watched it for the second time with you guys, and i definitely enjoyed it more! McGregor was just hilarious to me. Calling Dalton "Notorious" was great!!
yeah, i thoroughly enjoyed the hell out of this movie. just a Fun movie. you don't get just simple fun anymore. The original had it's thing, this has its thing, win win.
Talking about Jake's bulging abs i think its partly because of the writers strike. When you look at the pics from the UFC press conference his abs weren't protruding so much. He said in an interview he had to stay in that shape for way longer than planned because filming stopped and he had no idea when it would start again so Jake continued to work out and eventually he got steroid bloat 😅
Trust me, the fight scene with the bikers. A hard slap can hurt significantly more than a hard punch. It is a different type of pain. I'm not saying punches are not painful but slaps can be absolutely brutal if you put force behind it. You see those slap tournaments they do and the damage you can do to someones face with just a couple of slaps is insane.
I don't think this movie should be compared to the original that movie was amazing, but this is a great movie in it's own right
Love when a rendition of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" intro kicks in during Dalton's finisher on Knox.
my bf said Conor's character was gta personified hahah, for some reason his movements, delivery, the smile, everything was cracking me up
I watched it for the plot.
The plot : Jake Gyllenhaal.
The guy at the beginning who says which bike is his is a comedian. Had a good sketch comedy show on Comedy Central for a bit
If they're not gonna do a part 2 of this, we should at least have a separate movie for Knox and Moe. It would also be a good dynamic if they're in the same movie.
It's alligators in Florida not crocodiles. You can definitely tell none of these actors are from this part of the country
Dad lookin like Cuban Skarsgard
Also Clint Eastwood's "every which Way but loose" is a good street fighting modern Western that uses first person view in fights pretty well
Had a great time with this one , even more so that I just don’t compare the two 😆 This one has things that I really enjoyed such as the cool scenery and beach vibes
thanks guys for the endless A++ entertainment :D cheers
What are you talking about the doctor marrying Swayze in the original? She is Brad Wesley's estranged wife.
and if you meant in real life, they weren't married IRL either.
There was nothing on Saturday then me and mom saw this one was available
Thank God because that was a couple hours of entertainment
Biker gang leader dude (JD Pardo) is the lead for a show called Mayans, which is a spin off of Sons of Anarchy. Mayans is multiple levels of brutal above SoA, both the show and JD are very very underrated.
Exactly. And digital online streaming just doesn’t look nearly as good as a physical disc will.
16:36 Ya know, it’s funny you say that because that how I felt when we were first I introduced to her character and she was talking about that tree… I was literally thinking to myself “everything about her character feels like she was just pulled out of a video game”.
Jake Gyllenhaal's performance in this movie is amazing, another movie starring Jake Gyllenhaal that you guys should react to is Prince of Persia. love the work real rejects, you guys are awesoome :)
Conor has ONE OF THE GREATEST CINEMATIC INTROS EVA.
Hopefully he gets a spin-off, I'D WATCH 💯
I think what's missing for me is the character of the road house, here it kinda just felt like a place but never a character.
In the original the whole movie revolved around it even when the b-plot was playing, but here it felt a bit soulless?
Connor and Jake were absolutely the best parts of the reboot though!
the only time ive seen you guys talk over each other and it was the abs, perfection
Having never seen the original, watching this was like a fever dream. Couldn't figure out the plot until about halfway through the movie.
Conor McGrgor stole the show for me😂
The mid credits scene was just the cherry on top.
great reaction!😆
I need a live action Batman: Year One with Jake Gyllenhaal as Batman
Conor McGregor is basically playing GTA in this film. He’s not a character, he’s the actual player avatar, right down to stealing random cars and the random acts of violence 😂
And Moe is absolutely amazing as the sore-thumb comic relief - pun intended …
Including waking up at the hospital after getting killed.
Now i need more Conor in movies 😂 totally saved this one
I've only seen some of the original roadhouse movie so I could really enjoy this without the comparison. Absolutely loved Moe. McGregor had me cracking up the entire time. The actor who plays Ben Brandt, I've loved since Game Night. And of course Jake is great, love him in fight scenes. I really enjoyed this one, it's just fun.
5:20 "Do you need an ambulance" Me after The Movie Ambulance : No 😮😂
i love how a crocodile hides his food is depicted
Just finished the movie and opened RUclips and said well I’m watching it again haha
I can’t help it. I have to see this. Jake Gyllenhaal is one of my favorite actors. And man does he look great in this.
Damn they even added his signature drop step left hand counter to Jake's right
I watched this a couple days ago and I didn't know Conor was in it so I had a minor freak out when he showed up lol.
Not as good as the original but this is a enjoyable remake carried by Gyllenhaal And McGregor and Action.
22:14 Totally agree Cory, Jake would make an Amazing Batman. If they made a Batman Arkham live film, Jake is Bruce.
Well, to be fair, he went from a UFC fighter to an assassin pretty quickly 😂.. I mean, UFC fighters are good, but Dalton was something else
I mean he basically does turn into The Eqaulizer. He frames a cop for a murder (that was honestly pointless in the end because a the crooked Dad cop covers him). He somehow sets a out of nowhere magical remote bomb on a boat. It was was a really extreme turn because they really had no dramatic build/plot for the movie and had to rely on the action. Dalton is basically just a psycho with rage issues that killed his friend in the octagon for reasons not explained past rage.
well no, the remote bomb was already there, you could see it near the beginning of the movie, a chekov's gun type thing. and the framing of the cop was kinda funny because he thought it would have worked but didn't obviously.@@theDmanattack
@@_grimleythesequel where's was the remote bomb in the beginning of the movie?
not exactly at the beginning, but its when knox shows up in florida and after he runs his car into the motorcycles@@theDmanattack
@@_grimleythesequel okay but why tf would he have that?
There is a post credit scene surprisingly in this film
What is the soundtrack of the trailer movie ?
The originsl roadhouse is essentially 2 distinct films. Everything with Swayze, Kelly Lynch, the bar, and Sam Elliot is Dirty Dancing, then every cutaway to the villians is a bad episode of Dukes of Hazzard. At points it feels like they filmed and wrote an entire Dirty Dancing style film about a "cooler" then added the other parts afterwards in reshoots to make it more of an 80s action film. Seeing as one of the writers only other credit is the awful Steven Seagal movie Out for Justice, I'm pretty sure that's actually what happened.
