Fields knows how to slide he just waits until the guys about to destroy him before he initiates the slide, getting clapped in the process. Players are bigger, stronger and faster now. It's not an opinion, it's a measurable fact. Science, nutrition and training are making athletes like this. So the hits are going to be far more violent, even if they're clean. To anyone who calls out modern football players, I always ask them to strap on the pads and take the hit. When they're done drinking through a straw for the next few weeks (months?) report back on how delicate these players are. Easy to judge from the couch.
It's a legal hit, but that doesn't mean it's clean. It's not a dirty play, just not a clean one either. You can't legislate it out of the game because then how is the defender supposed to tackle. But still, I hate seeing defenders go at players' legs. Same with cut blocks. Football is so dangerous and some of these hits, while legal, just make me shake my head. It's why the game will never be safe. If you start legislating these hits out of the game, then you might as well play flag football.
When i used to play and get good hits and good plays i never stopped to showboat i kept my mind focused, when i see these guys do it in every clip it reminds me of the guys who did it to us but still lost
Honestly they need to put in some sort of system where New York can quickly review any hits on a defenseless receiver that is called to determine if it was actually a flag or not… Too many clean hits are being called flags because the referee can’t see it clearly at full speed
