    Would have liked a couple more insurance runs but still a fine performance.

    Imagine betting on the Tigers to score over 15 runs and its 6-6 in the 9th LMAO

    I hope the 2022 Detroit Tigers has an offense like this because if they do, it's gonna be big time fun whether it is on the road or at Comerica Park this season

      Hopefully when Riley Greene is healthy their offense will be more consistent.

    Am I the only sick nerd here that loves to look up the box score on baseball-reference for games like this and see how many earned runs these poor pitchers had. Mike Venefro: 0 IP 6 ER / Brandon Villafuerte 0.1 IP 7 ER. The latter's ERA went from 3.38 to 14.29 and was immediately sent back down to the minors

    August 3, 1989, the Cincinnati Reds score 14 in the bottom of the first inning versus Houston, went on to win 18-2, the Rangers scored 16 runs in the bottom of the 8th versus Baltimore April 19, 1996 in a 26-7 win.

    Man this highlight is so old Jose Lima still had the 42 jersey on...no one can wear that number now, I forget what year that rule went into effect

    • @mfm4205
      @mfm4205 2 года назад

      1997 or 98 (97 makes more since, being 50 years since jackie).
      everyone wearing it at the time grandfathered in (hence why rivera got to be the last guy to wear it beyond jackie robinson day).

    This would never happen today, sent 17 batters to the plate and only 2 hit homeruns. In 2002 the Brewers benched Jose Hernandez because they did not want him to break Bobby Bonds record of 189 strikeouts in a season. There are now 33 batters that have struck out more than 190 times in a season. Amazing.

    Why does footage from the early to mid 2000's always look so terrible yet there's older footage that doesn't look as bad?

    • @baseballcinema
      @baseballcinema  2 года назад +6

      A lot of times it's because of generation loss. Footage is transferred/copied from one format to another multiple times, resulting in quality loss with each transfer.

    • @mfm4205
      @mfm4205 2 года назад +3

      older footage is usually film, this stuff is tape.
      with film, you can upgrade it, but tape is stuck at whatever it was at the time (and can be made worse, but not better, due to copying it over and over again, along with playing it too often).

    The TIgers in 2000 and 2001 had a nice roster going on. They were not an easy win for other teams. Sadly, they wont taste success until 2006.
    And of course the disaster that was the Rangers in 2001

  • @BrendenNichols
    @BrendenNichols 2 года назад

    Sadly, as a Rangers fan, I must admit that this is what happens when you hit against the Rangers in clutch situations. You can be assured you’ll have a great chance at producing runs most days, especially around that period of time (2000-2008).

      For a long time Bobby Higginson was probably the best player from 1999-2003, and those were not good years despite the near .500 showing in 2000 (79-83).
