"Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) took to social media on Sunday to inform his followers he will not be watching Super Bowl LVIII over the singing of “Black national anthem.”
At the start of Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium, Andra Day performed the song Lift Every Voice and Sing for the second time in Super Bowl history. The song is nicknamed the Black national anthem because it speaks to the racial injustices faced by the Black community in the U.S."

The singing of Lift Every Voice and Sing was for Black History month. I do not believe that this will break the country. It's an acknowledgement, and then we move on.
I find it odd that the winner of the Super Bowl is declared the “world champion” when the game is only American. No other countries participate.
Agreed. we watch WORLD FOOTBALL, (soccer)🫶👍
Discerning people will routinely find such propaganda like this odd. The programmed masses Will however find themselves filled with pride over such distinction. You know pride the deadliest of seven deadly sins? Get it?
If your question was rhetorical ... my bad.
Japan and Canada both play and nither want any smoke with with the NFL.
If no other countries participate, then they are the best in the world. “World champions”, some might say.
When something is called a world champion it does not automatically mean that, look at boxing where there are like at least four different world championships in the heavyweight division
The NAME of the song is "Lift Every Voice And Sing". If it makes you feel better, leave off the "Black National Anthem". Why not listen to the lyrics of both ...ALL the lyrics (long verson)...see, which one is calling for unity. Then research which lyricists believed we should be ONE nation. 😊
This is political... This is not the first time the black national anthem has been sung at a major sporting event. These haters are looking for any reason to try and start a civil war. It's sickening!!!

@@mpirron1 You're welcome.
To come together and share the experience is the purpose of the black national anthem . The national anthem was never meant for everyone. It’s in the lyrics. You cannot hide the dark part of the song and pretend it doesn’t exist.
Wow I've been singing the National Anthem for 40 years and I never noticed a dark part, probably because there isn't one, as for this traitorous terrorists national anthem it should be labeled hate speech
What i have written that pissed off GQP types: First, the song was never announced as the "Black National Anthem" at the stadium. Second, if you're outraged over that song but not America The Beautiful or God Bless America, you're saying volumes without saying a word.
we got a BlueAnon right here lmfao! 95% downvoted this garbage slop song. thats a LOT of GQP 😚
Ok….the real question is, “Why don’t white folk feel proud to sing the black national anthem as well?” Might that be because we as a society haven’t come quite as far as we would like to believe??? I know 10s of millions of black folk who love and feel a sense of pride when they hear the star spangled banner….even though the song wasn’t originally written for us.
There's nothing about the Star Spangled Banner that applies it was written for a particular group. That's your problem.

Totally agree. I've read a lot of black history: Booker T, WEB Du Bois, King, Malcolm, Nat Turner, slave trade, life during slavery, what happened after the civil war, on through early 20th century, up through the Civil Rights Act.
But I would never, ever claim to actually know what it's like. And I would never, ever speak as if I did.
Yes being black makes you a expert on all things black lol and whites should just be quiet.... sure any race can figure out how to do amazing things... but if you white you can't understand black stuff lol racism and segregation are good things apparently.... when they talk about teachers they should only have teachers on to talk... and when it's disabled people issues... only have disabled people on..... How about no national anthem before sporting events.
I actually agree with you. Not that it would be unpatriotic, it's just why even invite the obligatory political opinions to cloud what the event is all about, sports competition. The NFL fkd up way back in the early 2000's when they started the whole SUPPORT THE TROOPS campaign. That's when political discourse started to infect the brains of your average consumer of sports.
Also agree!!
Everyone seems to be ignoring and definitely not mentioning that the third verse of the Star Spangled Banner’s third verse excludes Blacks from inclusion. So why should we honor such a song?
Right it’s a raycist song. They conveniently left out those parts..

Which lyric is specifically referred to?
@@INDIGO.GODDESS_573 but wouldn't taking the lyricd out of the national anthem a show of unity? .

Same thing with the lyrics so should we re enter those verses back into the star spangled banner so thaf we actually have a white national anthem? .and the blacks can keep theirs too?
There are 285 games in an NFL season including the postseason. The "black national anthem" is played in 1 game. The official national anthem is played in all 285 games.

It's an election year. So, there's that. :)
Was it called the Black national anthem other times as well? I think that's the real issue is we already have a national anthem therefore to call it the black national anthem is a slap in the face to our national anthem.
@@PSU2024 It's not a slap in the face, because someone called it that. You're being too literal, and assuming them calling it the black national anthem (DECADES AGO), means it's an actually national anthem. So just calm down.
@@ncwordman It is a slap in the face. If white people made a separate "white" national anthem all you race accusing liberals, ESPECIALLY TYT, would spin it that its racism and you know it. It's bad enough you have a song that promotes more woke BS but now you want to call it the Black National Anthem and say..."oh no biggie just calm down." Whats next a Latino National Anthem for all illegal immigrants you guys cried racism over when we had tight border security. Oh wait let me guess, you'll say I'm racist for saying that.
At Florida A&M University (HBCU), we have been playing this song with the National Anthem for years before each game. This song plays a representation of the black culture because we all know that we are not the "Land of the Free". "Lift Every Voice and Sing" speaks to all and not just one community. If you want us to have one Anthem, then we need to change the lyrics of this song to fit our nation as one.

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines in the stream,

Praise the power that hath made and preserv'd us a nation!

Exactly! "Come together" is telling black people to forsake their culture for white culture.
@@Issues-fy5sg
Pray tell, what is this white culture of which you speak?
Make sure it doesn't involve any other color.
@@WAEVOICE Note sure what you mean by involving any other color. White culture is seen as mainstream, so it means that young talented black professionals already in fear that their performance is received extra scrutiny because of their skin color are forced to learn songs from artists they see no value in and have never heard of (e.g., Neil Diamond or Jimmy Buffet) just to fit in at corporate events where they expect everyone to sing along to "Sweet Caroline" and "Margaritaville," which are not nearly as universally known or appreciated as the white culture believes. In the inverse it means that high level white politicians (who have never had to know anything about black culture) are absolutely shocked to learn that there is a song referred to as the "black national anthem" that has been at the core of black American culture since 1917 (14 years before Star Spangled Banner became the official US anthem). White culture is Rolling Stones Magazine listing the greatest songs of all time and not including "My Girl" by the Temptations. It's People Magazine listing the world's 100 most beautiful people and 90% of them are white when whites only make up 16% of the world's population. It's Taylor Swift receiving Album of the Year or Music Video of the Year with something generic and forgettable while all-time masterpieces by black artists lose out to her. So, saying "come together as Americans" typically means muting minority cultures to embrace the mainstream culture, which in America, is extremely white and often oblivious to the history, struggles, values, culture, and ethos of people who are not white.
We're divided because there are racists. Daahhhhh. Also the national anthem is not for us.

But thats the typical liberal democrat response if you dont think like us you're a racist and bigot. TYTs constantly tells people that.

So if they want to sing a more inclusive song after it, I’m all for it. This idea that it creates division is dumb. LIFT EVERY VOICE AND SING LYRICS
Lift every voice and sing,
'Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on 'til victory is won.
Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
'Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.
God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

That all sounds good, that we all should share an American identity. Easy for one to say when you are other than Black. There is a reason why it is important for Black Americans to have our own identity. #perspective
Trash
We have never had a shared identity. That will never happen unless everyone is blind. The Black National Anthem has been around since JWJ wrote it and since then we sang it in our churches and schools. It speaks to Black American history and experience in this country during and after slavery. That's our history, so of course that doesn't matter to some folks and that was something we always knew. The more things change the more they remain the same.
The problem is that blacks don’t want unity. They purposefully choose to be divisive, and highly racist in the name of “our history.” The problem is that many in the black community seem to forget the significant social, cultural and economic improvements seen in the black community immediately after slavery simply because black Americans sought to integrate into American culture. Black households were gaining economic wealth due to high employment rates, black fathers were present in the home, literacy rates rose dramatically. Things weren’t perfect. But they were heading in the right direction, and all that was taking place before the passing of the civil rights act. What happened? The country you all seemingly despise was giving you all everything you had asked for, and now you’re back to a position that is arguably much worse than the years immediately following emancipation. Again, what happened?
Expect White National Anthem, followed by Latin American National Anthem, then Asian American National Anthem. We can represent every group equally. Great idea, right??? (Yeah, neither is black national anthems)
@@John-jz7zz 🤣🤣🤣 you're delusional. Blacks aren't the ones going around telling whites they don't belong here or to go back to their country. Also, the significant social, cultural, and economic "improvements" you talk about were inevitable and had nothing to do with integrating into American culture. Blacks went from slavery, where we we're owned as property and had nothing, even though it was our blood sweat and tears that built this country, to being free and living on our own. You seem to forget after slavery, there was segregation and Jim crow, you also seem to forget, that during segregation, we were first made to integrate because racist white people burn down and destroyed all the predominantly black towns that we built up. This country didn't give us anything, we fought for what we got, yet we continue to get shitted on. We are in a worse position now than after Emancipation because of people who think like you. If you're going to talk about history, at least learn it first
I would just like to point out that America has always been divided in this way, there is nothing new about the last few decades other than the fact that "others" feel like they can actually say something now. They are no longer being silenced as they were a few decades ago. Things are better now, not worse, and the fact that you don't get that is kind of sad. It's kind of like saying "I wish those black, gay, etc., people would just shut up again."
