I think the issue is that companies like ESPN are forcing topics that are pointless just to rile people up. Its similar to how every other news station in this country gets people all pissed off over dumb political nonsense that means nothing. Sports media is so bad, nobody actually talks about the damn sports anymore, its all hot topic BS and I'm sick of it.

You described exactly what Mr. Valenti is doing. If he finds it boring, he doesn't have to talk about. He choose to put it on his show. He's just as guilty as ESPN or CBS or whoever, he's the loudest voice in the Michigan sports market. He's knows what he' doing.

for once i'm in complete agreement w/ Mike. corporate america needs to stop telling us what to care about which is essentially what they're doing by giving it coverage that's completely out of sync w/ the interest level out there.

Why is this news? Does anyone know how the team is constructed? Can anyone without the help of Google name 4 people on the team? This team has won 7 straight golds In blowout fashion.

Contrarian... but more relevant, lower income perspective. This could be the sports game that lower income patrons could actually participate in. Couldn't agree more that sports aren't for the common man anymore. They should start vying for the common person, because lord knows I can't afford any of these major games anymore.

It’s such a non issue. The team was constructed with more veterans, and Clark needs a break. She’s going on back to back seasons without rest, fatigue eventually takes over

She shoots like 30 percent from the field and turns the ball over close to 6 times a game. Give her a few years to get acclimated and her time will come.

Kinda comical on two points here - Mike wants to watch OTA coverage? At least these games are playing for something versus walking through some two hand touch. Also, you were just crying about the cost of events and being priced out just the other day, but now the WNBA doesn’t have 20k spike Lee seats and that’s a problem?

Valenti is so off the mark on this topic. Not on the fact that the WNBA as a whole is a bad product, but Caitlin Clark is the biggest star in sports right now and the WNBA is doing everything they can to ruin what could be the best thing to ever happen for their league, all because of jealousy.

What have they done to ruin her? I cant go anywhere without seeing her marketed all over the place and everyone and their mother knows who she is in America.

@@Lionz1957she markets herself, it's definitely not thanks to the WNBA. Every player and coach in the league hates her, they keep her off the Olympic team even though the ratings would skyrocket, and no one that works for WNBA league office has any idea what they're doing because they're not used to having any success.

@@Lionz1957Caitlin Clark markets herself, the WNBA certainly deserves no praise for marketing her. Every player and coach in the league hates her, they left her off the Olympic team even though the ratings would be through the roof, and no one that works in the WNBA league office has any clue what to do because they have never experienced success before.

@@mattr27 Saying every coach and player hates her is so exaggeratory. Yes, some players are jealous but definitely not ALL or even most. Some NBA players hated Lebron wheb he came in and they beat up Jordan when he got to the NBA. I agree that from a monetary perspective they would probably get more viewers and sell more jerseys if she was on the team but I really dont see how its that big of a deal, she will be on the next one and many to come. Also they have Fever games on ESPN and have televised so many games even though her team is the worst in the league.

The deeper issue is how woke the vast majority of corporations, media and society has become.
When it comes to being entertaining on the court, the WNBA simply isn’t a good product - their lack of ratings and profit proves that. Then the league’s small and select group of players that get to have a voice are beyond entitled, petty and delusional when it comes to pay and business sense. Lastly, because women empowerment and equality can be associated with the WNBA it gets forced upon everyone despite 90%+ of actual sports fans not caring at all about the league.
Mike is 100% correct in that entertainment topics like this that inevitably get tied to “social issues or causes” need to stop getting forced upon us if we’re not authentically interested.
