  • Released in 2018 as the fourth single off Paramore's fifth studio album, 'After Laughter', 'Rose Colored Boy' always piqued my interest with it's infectious groove and happy vibe.
The arrangement was fresh and happy sounding, a departure from the angst of old Paramore, and the bassline was littered with staccato accents.
I did a bit of research and discovered that the bass was recorded by the great Justin Meldal Johnsen in the studio, which explains why I had so much difficulty picking it out.
I learned this tune on impulse, and entirely by ear within about 1.5 hours, then recorded it thereafter, so it's not going to be 100% note for note, but rather my interpretation of how I would play this tune in a 'live' situation.
