The problem with this comparison is the modded car had the owner in the car. Looks like an extra 170 pounds or so. That is a lot in a 2700 pound car. You should stay with the stock suspension set up. It is that good.
I think it's funny that people hate on the "amplified" noise from the sound tube thingy and then they add a blow off valve that makes all kinds of noise for no reason at all...
"Fully modified" means nothing. The car has a stock turbo, stock engine, stock body, stock gearing... It has some bolt-ons but nothing is ever "fully modified" unless it's completely replaced. Silly complaint but I swear this label is everywhere and it's misleading/useless.
I have the '14, and I must say even from the factory, when you rip that thing out going as far as you can each gear, all the way to 6th it sounds great
Dude you just added an extra 200lb person to a 2700lb car. Do you realize how crippling that is on a true test? This is not a true test. Both cats should have had two people.
The guys got it wrong, it does NOT pump the engine noise throught the speakers (thats a BMW), this car uses an induction tube behind the fire wall that amplifies the induction from the 4cyl.
All the comments on this video are very technical, the only thing that bothers me is that he got to spec a sunroof! In the UK we didn't even have the option.
I've never understood these Fiesta owners plugging their Sound symposer. It's REAL engine noise piped into the cabin. Sounds like a mod someone would do to their car if they didn't have it already equipped like the Fiesta does. What is the logic in deleting this??? "I don't want to hear my engine!"
I Did some research on how this works, it's basically like a kazoo, because there is a membrane in between the intake and interior port that works from boost pressure. It's better than most manufacturers but still sounds fairly artificial.
Austin Murphy I see people deleting the symposer because they are wanting to run high boost levels and are worried about the diaphragm failing unter load and causing boost leaks. I personally don't know of that ever happening, but that's just what I have read. Other than that, I keep mine.
Ford rates them at 197 crank in the US. In the US, the peak temporary overboost output can be used for power ratings, but elsewhere in the world they’re rated at like 175 or so. A factory Fiesta ST should dyno around the 160 range at the wheels at a maximum. So, at least 50 horsepower up from stock.
Can't tell if it's the wrong tune or parts, but the modded one should be way quicker. I have mountune bolt ons and with stage 3 ots tune I'm fighting traction control in 3rd when it builds boost.
The fiesta ST looks so much better than the focus ST in my opinion. What's the price difference? Like 10k? Have any of you viewers driven both cars? Which is more fun?
Luis Lujan Only about 4k difference in price. The Focus is obviously a bit larger and can have a few more features, and is slightly faster in a straight line. But overall the Fiesta is more nimble and more fun to drive.
Luis Lujan own a fiesta st, have driven stock and stage 1 focus st's. definitely a larger car, it drives that way too. focus clutch is heavier, shifter is odd in my opinion. more body roll, less feedback through steering wheel. torque steer is definitely a thing in the focus..barely a minor quibble in the fiesta. focus is a little faster, but only by a fraction of a second. more torque for sure. fiesta is much more poised and athletic in turns. better recaro's in the fiesta.
Marc Thompson the fiesta sounds like an awesome car man! It's the perfect hot hatch in my opinion. I've seen some around town that are modified and they look so mean! Is there a big aftermarket for them like the FRS/BRZ? Is yours stock?
Luis Lujan I dont know my. I own a fiesta but I just dont feel it. However I drove a focus st and it feels great. if you wanted it to be slow, it's slow. but if you do a flat out, it seems like it'll say to you "come on! gimme more! you can do better than that". The fiesta is more agile in changing direction. but the focus st can grip better
***** Oh, so you're using the OEM BPV location? I capped mine off and switched to a HKS BOV on my FoST. It was too cramped to adjust my old Turbosmart BPV. Is there a comfortable amount of room on the FiST?
Javier Kano as long as it's properly tuned to handle the 100% vent to atmosphere any difference in performance between the stock recirc and it will be really minimal (which ever direction it goes)
Not really. When you vent to atm you lose throttle responce. So to compensate you need to raise the boost which will lead to less MPG and running rich. Psshhh
It didn't change my car at all. My AFRs are still on target and my Average MPG is still at 24.6mpg, even being open downpipe. My HKS BOV was installed after my tune was finished. I can't comment much on the throttle response as I really don't remember what the car was like with the BPV. =/ I might put it back on just to see
Stock tires are 205/40/17 Anyone saying the power after upgrades is an idiot. Stock at the crank it's 197 hp. Not taking into account drivetrain loss. Full stage three on ethonal I put down 224 hp and 290 trq at the wheels, not crank. Crank numbers that would be around 260 hp and 320/335 trq
Dude seem like the Stock ST was faster lol😂 I have panda on my Fost, it's aight, I also run stratified which atm feels like it pulls better then my panda tune
To sum it up, the tuned Fiesta: - Scrapes its bottom on big bumps, - Has less responsive steering, - Has a cool sounding blow-off valve which will annoy you to hell on long road trips. Why on Earth would anybody want this over a stock ST?
+HF Integrale This was very much an impromptu video and Josh had limited knowledge of the FiST so we apologize. Hopefully you've seen our other stock vs modified video (FRS v turbo FRS) to see how we've improved. Your feedback is always welcome.
my stock wheels ar 205/40/17 r 84 w and i got to the shop for 225/40/17 but hee said the 205/40 is more then good for a 1250 kg car. base wheel is potenza 050a but il try the pilot sport 3 from michelin.
I'm not touching the stock suspension in mine, I will go stage 1 or 2 maybe a mild exhaust to help it breath. I'm too old for the pop tunes and blow off noise..lol.
If this is your first view of the channel please check out the latest. We've come a long way! And yes, there are certain things we didn't like about the black Fiesta ST and Kevin, owner of the red one, has his well modded today in a way that doesn't lose it's FiST-ness.
its not just 210whp its prepping for pushing past that, almost everything but that corny BOV spacer is essential for going big turbo or a better hybrid turbo
James Hale For comparison, Matt Farah's FiST with similar mods made 217/287 on the Cobb's dyno. The owner's claim of 210 whp and 270 wtq sounded about right. If in fact the gains were closer to 25 whp that's certainly why it wasn't as noticeable.
Symposer soubd isn,t through the speakers !! it,s induction sound piped into the passenger footwell, not through speakers or immitation ,genuine induction yoar !!! :-)
I like the wheels. I'm curious what you mean by "sport" wheels. I have an almost identical ST. You'd probably dislike my wheels, too. Although, they are 9 lbs lighter than stock.
off shelf tune is the best bang for your bucks! other mods won't offer much gains vs cost ! that engine was design for low end torque. RS model suppose to has the 2.0L focus motor that will make it a awesome pocket rocket! make it a AWD wow!
STOP FUCKING SAYING FORD IS PUMPING SOUND THROUGH THE SPEAKERS. Seriously, if you're going to review a car at least know what the fuck you're talking about. I'm just getting sick of people saying it's run through the speakers. Also, what the fuck is a "speaker box" anyway?
+BobDingle25 This was very much an impromptu video and Josh had limited knowledge of the FiST so we apologize. Hopefully you've seen our other stock vs modified video (FRS v turbo FRS) to see how we've improved. Your feedback is always welcome.
Right Foot Down I may have overreacted a tad. Sorry, I just keep hearing people say this and it may have struck a nerve haha. I did enjoy the review though as I'm planning on upgrading my ST to a Cobb or Mountune stage 3 in the future.
***** Exactly. "Fully modified" is an intake and a tune? hell no. A bigger turbo set up and fully built internals, upgraded clutch, upgraded suspension, and upgraded brakes is fully modified.
Scott Yes. You wear out the e-brake components prematurely when you wrench the lever too far every time you apply the brake. The cable stretches. On level ground, I find that 1 click is enough to keep the car from rolling, however I personally choose 2 clicks just to be safe. If on a slight incline I will use 3 clicks, and on hills I will use 4 clicks. When I let my friends drive the car, or guys at the dealership I see them haul on the handle like 7-10 clicks until the lever runs out of travel, and that is just ridiculous. That cable stretches pretty easily.
+MsDannyrevs Slow? its a 1.6L engine. not to mention that its FUll bolt ons with what is available NOW. thats not even internals. when i say full bolt ons. im speaking of H/C pipes, CAI, exhaust, DP, tune, and turbo upgrade. thats not internals manifold cams. when those other parts as available 10s will be achieved.
+MsDannyrevs it was designed for being a corner beast. but I was only using it as a reference. the only flaw with the fiST is the solid rear axel. that is a poor rearend for a corner car. hence why the fiesta is being canned soon.
sounds like the modded bro wasted some $$$ - not seeing any advantage over the stock ST with this one sry u prob should have bought a Subaru if u want to do some 2ning
Loser necked his catless to 2.5, lol. My Trubends catless and exhaust is pure 3 inch all the way back. And my R1concepts slotted rotors and ceramics all the way around. Not noisy
I would never consider buying this "sports" car in a 5 door... it's a displeasing eye sore. Now if they offered the US market this in a 3 door it would be a different story for me... of course Europe always gets the goods. A group of retards at Ford decided to give the Fiesta ST this major design flaw here in the United States of Mexico. If I wanted a 5 door? I'd GET A Focus!
Sound is pumped into the cabin via a valve and tube setup right from the engine bay. Not through speakers.
Dan lessard Thanks for the correction!
No problem. Great video though. I love seeing FiSTs making people smile.
Yup, got that tube on my 5.0, can't wait for the cobra jet intake set up so I can do away with that fabricated nonsense.
Just for future reference the sound is pumped into the cabin via a valve which ford calls a sound symposer 👍
Candypants The original comment pointed that out. But thanks for trying.

Stop trying to be Matt Farrah this is embarrassing your copying him down to how he talks to the passenger.

We delete it because with many aftermarket exhausts the two sounds don't sound pleasant together.
pretty bad review.. Not gonna lie
if ur at 210 wheel hp right now, as you say, then say youre up 50 horse, hows that work? these dyno around 190 whp..... so ud be at 240 ish whp....

Sound symposer is pure to, it just amplifies the actual sound. It is not like BMW's, which is actually playing a recorded sound.
Oh really it doesn't build boost like a single turbo Supra?
I love how he scraped it up at the end too. "Oh, sorry..."
and the brakes are...noisy. Plus 100s of miles of Nurburgring testing, ruined by aftermarket springs. Way to go
Stock brakes are noisy when they aren't warm because they are ceramic too. Just saying.
Right foot down you seemed more impressed by the stock ST than the moded ricer one. I think his BOV actually made it lose power.
***** Which are you using?
***** Oh, so you're using the OEM BPV location? I capped mine off and switched to a HKS BOV on my FoST. It was too cramped to adjust my old Turbosmart BPV. Is there a comfortable amount of room on the FiST?

would you recommend this as a first car
Yes!
Jacob Keller Very fun to drive stock
I also got Stoptechs (Red stuff) on my CRX mk. 2, so far it's been fantastic, very gentle on top, very biting mid way down.
the black modified car sounds like a steam locomotive (or truck). The Red sound better
Decent video. Certainly has persuaded me to not mod my Fiesta.
If this is your first view of the channel please check out the latest. We've come a long way! And yes, there are certain things we didn't like about the black Fiesta ST and Kevin, owner of the red one, has his well modded today in a way that doesn't lose it's FiST-ness.
That bov is FiSTing my dignity.
2:31 "whats the torque number on this? i dont EVEN recall, all i know is it feels like plenty" LMAOOOO very fucking professional
Not a bad start. Needs improvement but you'll get there!
All that trouble to swap the camera from one car to the other and you couldn't wipe two bugs off of the windscreen?
That's not fully modded I have a friend in the UK who has a 230bhp st running from the pump fuel.
Recirculating the blow off valve is not only better but also doesn't make you seem like a 18 year old with his first "tuned" car.
Apparently basic bolt one means fully modded these days
If his car dynoed at 210hp and the stock one is 197 hes only up 13hp not 50
Chris Bach
Its not 197 to the wheels stock, it probably makes 150-160 to the wheels stock
Sanic Actually the car is underrated, They dyno about 190whp stock.
Either way, it's a fun cool little rocket.
Be nice to see actual performance numbers. For both models.
Ruined the car with the boomba adapter, should have replaced it instead of modifying the stock btv
DeFran Lucas replace it with a blow off valve or a better bypass
Oh by the way, Windshield washer doesn't work?
i think how much money that was invested would be good to talk about. i feel like the owner may have spent a lot of money on 210 WHP
its not just 210whp its prepping for pushing past that, almost everything but that corny BOV spacer is essential for going big turbo or a better hybrid turbo
does any body knows how much beter fiesta st with puma speed stage 3 and stage 4 is?
Where do you get that his car is up 50hp over stock? Because it definitely isn't.
James Hale For comparison, Matt Farah's FiST with similar mods made 217/287 on the Cobb's dyno. The owner's claim of 210 whp and 270 wtq sounded about right. If in fact the gains were closer to 25 whp that's certainly why it wasn't as noticeable.
25 sounds more like it. Here in VA, FiSTs dyno around 185-190 stock from what I've seen.
James Hale If you have a FiST or a FoST, join the Capital ST Club on Facebook. That is if you haven't already.
Andy Lisnoff I've got a FiST. I'm about 6 hours away from DC, but I'll do it anyway haha
Someone from the group has NY tags, so I think you'd be ok.
the shifter looks extended
Symposer soubd isn,t through the speakers !! it,s induction sound piped into the passenger footwell, not through speakers or immitation ,genuine induction yoar !!! :-)
please compare a stok 1 with a 340 hp from puma speed tuning!!!
1. There's no such thing as a "speaker box"
2. The sound doesn't come through the speakers
great video
Well played sir.
Sorry it was a joke i'll change it.
what are your thoughts on the shifter feel between the two cars?
If I was taking my car to the track I would have a setup similar to Jonathan's. If not, I'd probably keep it stock.
OEM tires are 205/40R17
(Not 215)
After he said that about her mini Cooper, she probably filed a divorce 11:30 😂 😂 hope not 😅
That BOV is fully 2005 teenage ricer spec. That stupid shit needs to go. Otherwise seems like a really nicely tuned car.
good reveiw
I bet a short shifter would be nice
My first mod is a waste gate
loving those fly =)
05:09 those wheels ...cmon put some sport stuff if you reallly done all those mods.
I like the wheels. I'm curious what you mean by "sport" wheels. I have an almost identical ST. You'd probably dislike my wheels, too. Although, they are 9 lbs lighter than stock.
Either YouTuube butchered the quality of this video or those cameras are terribad.

I thought they were using the 2.3 ecoMustang platform with the AWD.
+icin4d They haven't committed to making a Fiesta RS at all. So any guess as to what it will be is just that.
Ford.. steering wheels dont have to be the same size as your wheels. Bring it down a notch
"fully modded" yeah, right....
Stock tire size is 205...
Could you have found straighter roads?
+theshonen8899 That takes all of the fun out of driving. He's just not evening pushing hard in the twisties.
video cut short by bug
I used to love modded cars.. But maybe I'm old now, but most the time you just break the car.
+ZG0002 Yep, dependability is a much bigger deal, the older I get.
Well modded parts tend to be better so I dont really see your point here. Its still normal maintenance afterwards.
That kid ruined the balance of that car
agreed, not all mods make a car better.
interesting vid
Stock tires are 205 40R17. Also, BOVs are the dumbest shit you could do. They just make it soo ricey. Oh and check the damn camera for bugs
Is it illegal to overtake in US??
when there is a double yellow line it is :)
Anyone here have a panda tune? Don’t know anyone who runs those...
huh?? :/ stock fiesta st vs "full bolt-on" st??
Erm there is a small bit of poo in the way
Man, that blowoff valve is STUPID...
Panda Motorworks Ftw!
You've just been FiSTed

yeah i've just seen it srry

I think the shifter kinda sucked OEM.
+rrpostalagain I like mine
+MsDannyrevs that's all that really matters. Throw on a shift kit, sometime. See what you think.
