It took me 75 hours to 100% no shortcuts, it's not that terrible. I personally enjoyed the Kex port, and even started to make some mod's for it (well, more like, few ports of mod's i've already done previously) But I will say, there were 3 master levels that were terrible, design wise. And considering i've been playing the game for 23 years and modding it for 18, yeah. Also, technically speaking is a bug, but can't we all agree how cool is that you get a kill count beyond a hundred? As in, you're killing more than intended (or in this case, in the thousands)

That part where you're complaining about Doom II's absolute dogshit level design made me so happy. I NEVER see people talking about how bad it is. And there's barely any options for fan remakes that make it actually good. Best option I've seen, which I have uploaded with proper credits to the official mod browser, is Ultimate Doom II. However, though Ult 2's level design may be FAR superior to vanilla's, it is ungodly difficult. Talking harder than Plutonia difficult. Like, the MAP 20 remake has over 1000 monsters at start.
Damn bro, if you found doom 2 so ass, prepare for those stock ass master levels, or the plutonia carnage, I would recommend getting the midi pack for those, going through the slop of ML and the ball-breaking difficulty of plut with the Doom 2 soundtrack is a kick in the balls, if you do, don't get it from the in-game mods because they don't count for achievements, run them with a command from the launcher
i play with music off lol, its wayyy better for recording audio while editing. All the music u hear is added in by me i usually js listen to vids or other music while playing
I feel your pain. From the rerelease till recently I’ll been playing this. I found it helped to balance the truely awful wads with a decent palette cleanser in between. I did Sigil, master levels, no rest, tnt, plutonia. Finish on a high. I played and recorded offline for my channel. I also forgot to save and lost a lot of time. I streamed legacy of rust. Tough was! 60 hours later I’m at 100%
Wait until dude finds out you can just level select the final level for any campaign, turn on godmode and noclip and just get the achievement for free 🤪
a man and a half can be easily get if you just load and save again and again doom 1 ep 2 by the way just get the berserk after that kill 8 enemies then load again and repeat

I did this one on E2M9. Same principle; no hitscanners, short level. And you can finish that level with 200% health and armor as well.
