Bijan, I previously owned the Samsung Odyssey G7 27'. I returned the unit due to a widespread flickering issue with FreeSync/G-Sync. I have had the Alienware 2721D for about a week now and I can say thus far, I definitely miss that sweet sexy curve that the G7 had, but I sure as hell don't miss the awful flickering that was present with G-Sync enabled. I agree that the Samsung G7 is a completely different price point, but when it comes to hardware, I like my tech to perform as advertised. That being said, I feel that the price for the 2721D is just a tad too high and would love to see it sit around $999 instead of the $1100 that I paid. g7 curved and has had a lot of issues to date. Basically you play the panel lottery with it. So far I haven't heard that about this monitor although it is still early(I love mine!)

The reason its not running 10 bit at 240hz is because of the bandwidth limitations of DP1.4. However there is a fix called Display Stream Compression (DSC) which would solve this issue. Just picked one of these up for $530 USD, hopefully it's good, I'm upgrading from the Alienware 2720, which is basically the 1080p version of this monitor. There were others I would have preferred but I couldn't get them in Australia and the delivery fees were hundreds of dollars. I think I got a decent deal though, everywhere else it's still retailing for around $720-850 USD, at least in Australia anyway.
Recently found your channel and have been loving the monitor reviews. Haven’t read all of the comments but thanks for this review. I’ve been lost in a Sea or monitors and finally pulled the trigger on this one this past week. Was having a lot of buyers remorse before receiving as their isn’t much info out. FYI- Dell rep is saying firmware update out on the 26th should resolve issue with 10-bit color at 244hz. We shall see. Also was able to get Dell to price match Amazon which had it at $816.00.
I just received this monitor and love it although as this review states the super fast and extreme response times show clear ghosting. It's very obvious. Thankfully the fast response time doesn't show much/ any. I would been so disappointed if it all 3 response times had ghosting. It's a really expensive piece of kit. On the plus side the thing is BRIGHT! Smooth as hell and overall amazing build quality. The colour profile is way off out the box. Need to tweak it to a decent setting. Whites and yellows seem to blend together.
How is BLB on your item? Do you know who manufactures the panel used in this monitor? Is the gsync module v2? The input ports doesn't correspond to the v2 specification, so does it have an nvidia hardware module at all or maybe it is an updated v2? And how about the Gsync Ultimate certification - has nvidia lowered the requirements or whats happening here? :)
Yeah but almost nothing compares to the latency of the G7 so i doubt there will be a $400-500 difference...although I was secretly hoping there would be a reason for me to spend more....😂😂

So I just got this in today and I have it set up right next to the G7 27".... I think the contrast of the G7 has ruined ips panels for me. It looks washed out in comparison to the G7. I thought I would be sending the samsung back but its probably gonna be the AW. Can you tell me what Brightness/contrast and RGB you used with yours? I just can't get it looking as good as the G7. Colors seem totally fine out of the box it's just got no contrast.
This video got me sold on it :) I've just got an "ASUS TUF Gaming VG259QM 24.5” Monitor, 1080P Full HD (1920 x 1080), Fast IPS, 280Hz" monitor, but I am going to be returning it back to get this 240Hz Monitor - Alienware AW2721D.
8:40 - Because these LG panels use slow decaying red phosphors, so the ULMB would be pretty worthless, since there'd be a pretty damn large trail on screen. Most monitors with Nano-IPS panels do this.
Dude... I think I'm going to live on your channel for a while. You make content that is FAR above the level of subs you have. I really hope you kick off and skyrocket as you clearly deserve it for the quality you put out. Thank you for helping me shop for the monitor upgrade to go with my boosted 3080... it would have been a shame to pair such a beast with a crap monitor or just a measly 1080p display on a tn with really bad flickering and visible backlight (even if I technically have 240hz of it). I thought I'd need 3-5 reviews of each monitor, but honestly I didn't. Alienware and G7 are a hard choice, but from my experience with backlights and flickering I'm going to pick the alienware. I can always adjust gamma, saturation, and brightness calibrations in game and on nvidia.
Sidenote: Don't buy the MSI NXG252R... if you need 1080p 240hz go with BENQ you will not regret it as the MSI has great response time and fantastic at not giving me headaches, the ghosting is terrible, flickering is unavoidable and incredibly distracting in comp fps games, and in darks it washes out easily and brights it blinds and flares all over to where you can't see even on incredibly low brightness settings. My MSI did her job well for 170 bucks resale, but it is time to go, Betsie.
If this monitor does have the 'nano IPS' panel sourced from LG, the reason why they didn't add backlight strobing of some sort is probably due to the slow decay present on the red phosphor.
I have this for a week now and i absolutely love it!!! Best monitor i ever used and i tested a lot;) Asus Benq Lg Samsung etc....THIS IS IT!!! Great review BTW.

I have a query…can we use this monitor in full hd during fames so that it can easily maintain 240hz? Keeping all things same will lowering the reaolution will effect input lag, response time , etc?
QUESTION: I really want this monitor, but I also want the new AMD CPU and GPU - is it possible to do such a setup? Or do I need a Nvidia GPU since it’s a G-sync ultimate monitor? Thanks
I see 2 3,5mm connectors? Is it passtrough? Or can you connect speakers and Headphones trough DP? Or is one for mic / speakers, but why are they so far apart then?

I already have a good monitor but i still binge watch these vids
Just picked one of these up for $530 USD, hopefully it's good, I'm upgrading from the Alienware 2720, which is basically the 1080p version of this monitor. There were others I would have preferred but I couldn't get them in Australia and the delivery fees were hundreds of dollars.
I think I got a decent deal though, everywhere else it's still retailing for around $720-850 USD, at least in Australia anyway.
We need a pc for this right so can we use any gaming pc for this monitor
Recently found your channel and have been loving the monitor reviews. Haven’t read all of the comments but thanks for this review. I’ve been lost in a Sea or monitors and finally pulled the trigger on this one this past week. Was having a lot of buyers remorse before receiving as their isn’t much info out. FYI- Dell rep is saying firmware update out on the 26th should resolve issue with 10-bit color at 244hz. We shall see. Also was able to get Dell to price match Amazon which had it at $816.00.
in Canada its $1500 CAD, way too much. wonder if B&H would sell it
I just received this monitor and love it although as this review states the super fast and extreme response times show clear ghosting.
Listed at $816 in Amazon right now.
Lies! Edited....ok nvm I found it...kinda weird lol. Had to search for alienware and not dell and has 1 review lol
$733 now.
To answer your question, ULMB is incompatible with HDR zones. It's missing from all monitors with zones.
FINALLY!
Well, now need direct compare and latency test between G7 and this.
Yeah but almost nothing compares to the latency of the G7 so i doubt there will be a $400-500 difference...although I was secretly hoping there would be a reason for me to spend more....😂😂
@@AnthonyAtencio don’t plz don’t this monitor for the price is dumb as hell
@@InSaiyanShinobi yeah Im not but the price is down to 730 on amazon right now. Im sticking with my G7 its been amazing TBH
@@AnthonyAtencio that’s not to bad I can deal with that price but right now I can get the g7 32 inch witch is a beautiful size for 630 which most likely buying it Tom so ima be on the same wave as you brother
Just got this monitor for 400 bucks on offer up!!!
Dark Stabilizer, which is the best value?
1?
8:57 Top tier CRT monitors are still beating these IPS and VA high refresh rate monitors in motion clearly by light-years*.
With the tech of today, think of what they could have molded out of the CRT tech.
Finally I was waiting for this for my shop decision
Bijan, you're amazing. This monitor is available on Amazon for 733 right now, at this price could you safely suggest it over the Odyssey G7?
I just ordered it for 733 on amazon cant wait
I saw on Friday at 834 and yesterday on sale at 733 I order one as well today :)
7:42 for benq's strobe u need to set Area setting to 9 and ama high/premium. Ghosting will be DRAMATICALLY less visible.
What are your custom color settings?
I found this for £640 today and your review gave me the confidence to pull the trigger! Can't wait to have it in my hands 🙂
That's a very good deal still.
What's the better monitor, AW 2521 hlf or AW 2720?
Man, you deserve a lot more views ! keep it up !
If this monitor does have the 'nano IPS' panel sourced from LG, the reason why they didn't add backlight strobing of some sort is probably due to the slow decay present on the red phosphor.
Thanks for your honest opinion. Helps a lot for those that are new to the market
I have this for a week now and i absolutely love it!!! Best monitor i ever used and i tested a lot;) Asus Benq Lg Samsung etc....THIS IS IT!!!
Great review BTW.
Which LG have you had if i may ask?
Would you have this over a 4k monitor even if you could run 4k
should i buy the Acer Predator XB253QGX or the Alienware AW2521HFL?
I'm curious if you like ultrawide's and if you like the AW3420
I like them but never owned one yet.
@@BijanJamshidi oh okay I use the aw3420 so It would be cool to see you review it especially since it's cheaper than this monitor but maybe hopefully you'll get their next version best of luck!
Can this be wall mounted?
i have this monitor, the performance is nice but why do this 800 euro piece not have a Sharpening option?????
This is the perfect solution to my inner crisis on getting the Samsung odyssey G7 27 or the LG 27GL950. This trumps both of them and, if it maintains it’s incredible pricepoint on Amazon for the next month, will be absolutely phenomenal.
Hi, can you upload your Alienware AW2721D icm / icc color profile please?
I just bought this monitor, but I don't have a color calibrator :(
and what osd RGB setting you have used?
Thanks a lot and good job with your channel, keep it up!!
I have a query…can we use this monitor in full hd during fames so that it can easily maintain 240hz? Keeping all things same will lowering the reaolution will effect input lag, response time , etc?
4K vs 1440p / 140hz vs 240hz / LG GN950 vs AW2721D?
Which graphics card is good for this monitor
Been waiting for this review since I watched the one for the AW2521H! Thank you for the in-depth look, and yo mama!
what game did you played in your video? i'm working on my gamedesk setup.
which is the best for gaming and competitive alienware aw2721d or asus rog swift pg279qm
QUESTION:
I really want this monitor, but I also want the new AMD CPU and GPU - is it possible to do such a setup? Or do I need a Nvidia GPU since it’s a G-sync ultimate monitor? Thanks
Also wondering this
You'll be able to use it no problem, but you'll be missing out on G-Sync ultimate. That's about it.
@@BijanJamshidi thanks for taking your time to reply and thanks for the great reviews!
If its HDR600 but G-Sync Ultimate is HDR1000, how can it be G-Sync Ultimate?
I see 2 3,5mm connectors? Is it passtrough? Or can you connect speakers and Headphones trough DP? Or is one for mic / speakers, but why are they so far apart then?
With the current cost of the Alienware AW2721D on amazon, would you still get the SAMSUNG 27-inch Odyssey G7 or the Alienware AW2721D? I plan to do some video editing and gaming although was wondering which would be the better deal? Also it doesn't look like it supports freesync unless if I miss you saying that.
Alienware over the G7 for sure for $800.
I'm waiting for this monitor to appear in my country. I heard that it's actual price is closer to $700. If it's not that much expensiive that G7 I might get it. 26.9" G7 right now costs about $590 where I live. Sadly, the only site that has Alienware AW2721D listed states it will be coming in next year...
Is this monitor good for professional gaming?
I see your bright future in this community. you're my second best monitor reviewer after Hardware unboxed 👍 keep up the amazing work
How bad or good the back levels are that is basically everything I'm looking for.
I have never laughed on mom jokes but this one it got me GG
Does it have sn sRGB mode?
