Big note of warning! The wild onsen we went to is found in an area owned by the Nakanosawa Onsen Association nakanosawa-num.... They own the land and you are not supposed to enter past a certain point without a guide from their association. The main reason is because there have been deaths caused by the hydrogen sulfide gasses emitted from the area. They were to be offering an Extreme Onsen Tour starting in 2020, but it was postponed due to COVID-19 onsennews.com/.... I think they will be offering it shortly though, as I saw some social media posts about it.

Thanks to ONLY in JAPAN * John Daub for joining me on the trip. Here's his version of the experience ruclips.net/video/26RfpOnlrOA/видео.html. In his version he talks with experts to get behind the health benefits of visiting onsens.
Thanks for this Video. Even though there are so many Vloggers nowadays on RUclips showing us Japan but I can't like them as much as I like your videos.
Stay Safe and Stay Healthy.
Thanks Greg! What a fun road trip! Lovely video, I think viewers are going to love seeing two side of the same story :) - and I need the subs (new channel) PS: Greg did most of the driving and let me sleep on the bottom bunk!
Your version was SO MUCH better than the one from John.... from your beautiful photography to the fine editing. Thank you.
*I'm so happy John is still youtubing. John's personality is so uplifting. Stay strong John. I left that channel and I'm gonna sub yours.*
... Some days I really miss Japan.
Been waiting for this since John did the Livestream a few months ago. Watched both videos but the one with funny side comments is the best. These are going on my next onsen trip to Japan. Thanks for a great video! Stay healthy.
This was amazing! Beautiful places and excellent cinematography as always mate. You did those hot springs justice.
I've travelled around the Bandai area of Fukushima a fair bit, but somehow never made it to any of these springs.
Great to see you and John showcasing Tohoku as well! Hopefully we'll see more folks visit the region when the country re-opens.
Your docs on Fukushima were quite moving, Dav...I mean Chris. I'm glad both still pop up in my recommendations, and I watch them several times, especially the one you did a year ago. Not afraid to admit it still gets me teared up. All the best, dude.
Thanks for the kind words!
I was wishing you guys would collaborate 😭
All I need now is a collab between Abroad in Japan and Life Where I'm From
Theres so much in tohoku people dont know about. Soooo much to see. Hoping to see a collab with all 3 of you in the future
You’re a super talented storyteller. This was really excellent.
Dying of jealousy over here. 😭
Me too 😫
Me too 😫
Me toooooo😫😭
Me three
Me too
I've been playing Ghost of Tsushima and there are hidden hot springs where you dip in to relax and it increases your overall health level. Makes me sad that I didn't get the chance to try an onsen when I was in Japan. Hopefully, next time! Great video!
Literally that's why I'm here lol
This was amazingly beautiful. Like I can't properly convey in words how this makes me feel. Wistful and yearning are just two.
The quality of this video is superb! ❤️
I watched this video the night I received my PS5 on its RUclips app. I think about this video a lot now because it brings back memories of that great night. Just sitting at my desk watching this beautiful video on my PS5 waiting for the next game in my favorite video game series (Call of Duty) to release at midnight. It was pretty peaceful.
This is why I want to move to Japan, it is such a beautiful country
Your videos are pure eye candy. Both beautiful and informative. Thank you for the videos you make, I really enjoy them!
Ahhhhhh I missed these kinds of videosssss 😊😊😊🤗🤗🤗
When you were hiking in the beginning I was thinking, "This is really high quality video, surely this isn't a GoPro... I hope he doesn't trip and drop the fancy camera"... and then 10 minutes later, you're like, "I tripped, but don't worry, the camera is fine!"
Phew, I guess. :)
Ah a LWIF and John crossover, you love to see it. So peaceful, love the music
i agree, dear leader
Yeah, i am planing to watch this later. But after scrolling and find out john upload covering abt onsen. Kinda suspicious if it is a colab, and immediately click it, And yes it is
Can you please go back and continue the things in Japan series with kids?
I really miss the videos and the kids 😢
they’re a lot older now and Aiko doesn’t really like to be filmed 😔😔
@@ineversleep7187 nooo I miss them a lot! 🥺😭
Same I love watching them
@@50ksubscriberswithoitvideo83 rewatch the old videos.
Thank you for allowing us to travel with you! This video made me feel so relaxed. Japan truly is a beautiful country - it's a shame that some Westerners only know it for the flashy Tokyo scenes.
Wow...both you and John hurt yourselfs pretty bad exploring these onsens. Way to go and "take one for the team". We all appreciated you bringing this beautiful film to us. Thank you very much! Keep up the great work.
Chillaxing in an onsen surrounded by beautiful nature, you are living the life
That cold dip you took near the beginning of the video, seemed just perfect :) thank you for wetting our appetite for these onsens (sp?)with your great video:)😊🤙🙏
Another super job on filming and editing, also love the bit of elevator music when john posed in onsen in your place it was funny
Wow, great job on this video! It looks like it took a long time to put together. The cinematography is top notch, and the pacing, and narration is great. Kudos!
You're in GREAT shape Greg! Congrats!
These quality of content can be on any tv station right now. Love japan.❤️

The scenic views are absolutely stunning!
I always forget about this channel because for what ever reason I never subscribed (I have now) and it's such a lovely thing to come back to after some time and hang out for a while looking at all the amazing and interesting things Japan has to offer. Thank you Greg!
Beautiful! You've captured the beauty of these hot springs so well. Incredibly stunning scenery around there, definitely makes me reminisce fondly of Japan and the onsen experience.
The best thing about Japan really. Can't wait to visit there again once it's possible.
that was amazing storytelling friend.
THIS is why I wanna go to Japan. Excellent content as always, Greg :)
This is like a well made mini documentary just perfect
Production value here is off the charts good. Bravo. 👏👏
こういう風の伝え方の動画が大好きです!何だか日本で暮らしていた頃の思い出が思い出しちゃいました。
We are heading to Tsuchiyu Bettei Satonoyu next month after seeing you visit there on this channel. Thanks for sharing!
AMAZING! Japan is at the tip top of our list when it’s safe to travel again and visiting onsens is number one for me. This was a great way to help me prepare and to keep me hopeful. Beautiful video!
Having a bit a binge of your videos at the moment. This is a great video Greg, you’ve really captured the beauty of the areas and it all looks so stunning. Always good to see John out and about with you (the cycling video was also excellent) and the filming of his slip and reaction was very funny 😄 I’ve also watched his version of this trip and it’s good to see both aspects. Best wishes to you and the family
Nice video as always! I just did a RUclips search for commercial home kitchens and boom there you were in a video. You're famous in Canada and Japan!!
two of my fave vloggers collabing = ♥️
Living the life, beautiful places
Japan is truly the awesomest place on earth☺
I have no words to describe how much I love this channel. Greg, you're a jewel.
Hi, Greg! Great video, I really enjoy your content! By complete coincidence, my friends & I visited that last ryokan (Tsuchiyu Bettei Satonoyu) last year! We dipped into those exact onsen pools on New Year's Eve before we took the shinkansen down to Tokyo! It was an incredible experience, and my heart started racing when I saw your footage from that onsen. Once again, thank you thank you thank you! I cannot wait for a return trip to Japan in the near future! 😊
Wow every onsen looks amazing💕I like the one with whitish colored water because it seems to have better effects for your body ☺️💕
Omg 😫😫 you are so lucky. I would love to experience this!!! I'm so passionate about nature, hiking through beautiful woods/forests. I love love rushing waters and waterfalls ❤❤. My heart is literally bursting into a million pieces right now!! I just love your channel it makes me so happy and frustrated( in a good way) because I'm really passionate and want to experience this 😊❤ Japan is one of the countries on my bucket list.
Completely understand what you mean by frustrated (but in a good way) and I'm looking forward to when I'll be able to visit. So many great things to experience that don't exist where I'm from 😂hope you get there!
Gorgeous video, Greg. You really captured the tranquil Japanese ‘onsen experience’ well. I’ve been to some great onsens too...but nothing like the one you guys went to in this video. Wow. Anyway, I highly recommend this natural and cultural experience to any travellers to Japan. (just watch those hydrogen sulphide fumes. 😆)
賛成です!
😍😍😍 i absolutely LOVE the Onsen experience in Japan. Never tried much of those outdoor in the wild ones so thanks for this!
omg two fwo of the nicest youtubers in Japan making videos together?!?!?! THIS IS AMAZING please make more! :)
Love how you present everything. So relaxing. The last spot was my favorite.
Onsen truly is among the highest art forms humanity ever imagined. Great video, thanks for sharing.
It must have been fun hanging out with John. He has a fun character. I’m going to visit the Hot Springs there someday. We have them around here in Washington state/Oregon.
watching someone else live your dream is inspiring and informative *taking notes* kudos! Kusatsu's onsen park was the closest I came to being in nature
I really loved this video!! Thank you for showing us with great creativity and quality the beautiful scenes and places of japan!! And Greg.....you and John make good team!! Thanks again for sharing!!
So true! Japan is packed with trourist destinations with great natural beauty and good amenties, food etc..there really is no country like it.
This footage is absolutely breathtaking. Thanks for shooting and SHARING this! I'm in LOVE!
Absolutely gorgeous scenery! I am so jealous and now I absolutely want to experience this!
what i like most from Greg videos
the panorama/panoramic views mixed with the journey
great video Greg 👍
Love your videos and channel. So glad to see you and John Daub collaborating too! After COVID-19, I'm doing a Japan trip!
Please weekly videos. I miss those 😭
Thank you for making such amazing videos. We all can see how much effort it has taken to make it with exceptional filmography and it was definetly worth waiting for.
Wow Greg, what a great video.
I was checking in to your channel for new vids for the last month. And now I understand why. It was worth the wait.
Excellent.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful places.
Wow!! This is an amazing video! 🙌🏼
Came from John's Video of this! I never heard about this channel, looking forward for more uploads. Very well done!
5:44 oh yes
Thank you for this video. It reminds me of our little trips to Hakone and enjoying the hot springs. We had the pleasure of living and working in Saitama and Chiba Prefectures for 4 years! Love the memories!
When onsen is life! ♨️🙌🏼 Urayamashii 😩
Your video makes me feel peaceful. Thank you for sharing such beautiful content with the world!
You only upload quality videos even though you do not do it so often . I always look forward to your videos .. have so much respect for you
Glad to see a new video! I hope you and the kids are doing great.
Awesome editing!
Kusatsu is definitely one of my top favorites.
I’d definitely would love to see this as a series.
Wonderful video again :) I miss living in Japan.. and now even visiting is not possible it often makes me feel sad and emotional these days. Your videos however make me see my beloved Japan again and it always cheers me up, thank you :)
Love how Greg always produces such high quality documentaries!
In Mexico we have a similar place but bigger. The amount of water is pretty higher. This one looks amazing though.
@@cebas23 Does it have more people as well is the big question
It's really peaceful 😌
@@maxe159 sorry, the comment was for the general section. Unfortunately it has a lot of people. But as the river is longer you can find a quiet place if you look enough.
@@cebas23 No yeah that sounds pretty cool! it tends to be the bigger they are the more people.
Happy New Year to you and your family from Toronto :D
Love the usual Greg Gonzo style. Great video as usual. Really missed your videos during the pandemic so pleased to catch another one.
You capture the "feeling" of Japan better than any other youtuber. I miss living there. Thank you so much for your exceptional videos.
Have you seen Abroad in Japan? British guy who is pretty good about showing how amazing Japan can be, and how weird and frustrating it can be for a foreigner.
@@solchapeau6343 I have. And while I like his videos too, they feel more like a guide for visitors... These videos capture the feelings I had when I lived in Tohoku. Many of the places he visits are places I lived during my stay (Fukushima being one of them). It's a calm and peaceful countryside with a distinct pace of life. He captures it very well. :)
The production quality of your video is really amazing.
From the second I hear John from behind the camera my brain just went "Oh Yeah! This one's gonna be lit!"
Can you please do a tour of the town? It does look small and it honestly looks great to live there!
I bet it's peaceful and with a community of close people who know each other.
I wonder what the food scene is there like too.
I hope you do a tour of that town. Please! :)
This country is beautiful
I love the way you filming, greg! Supergood as always😊
Had to wait soo long for this video..plz try to post often with aiko & shin💜
Really nice to see another collab. And interesting to see you guys' videos side by side. Well done, boys!
Yay you did a video guest starring John Daud! I love that guy's channel. And those onsens looked amazing. Wish I could try them.
I love your videos so much!!
glad to have your videos back 😊😊 missing those great onsen! 🎋🏯🗾🎎
the hotspring in takayu looks cool to enjoy a cloudy day
Stunning!
Nice video!Great!😊🇯🇵🌸
Great to see you back Greg!
Soothing and relaxing :)
Thank you for this beautiful video! Would love to see your other onsen adventures in the future
What a beautiful video! The scenery is breathtaking!
what a perfect combination Greg and John together i hope we see more of this
I really enjoy LWIF videos - always your normal, soothing paced live travel /culture journalism vs John's over animated pretend style. Guess being Australian we prefer the straightforward travel journalism without pretence .... So please continue with your own style as your presentations really are the very BEST! 😎🤩🤗😎
that nature... is lovely.
I hope you have healed since! Every filming location was nice! I cannot wait to visit an Onsen resort. Thank you for sharing! ❤️ all your documentaries.
I think that was the best skill share ad I have seen!
It's so nice to see these parts of Japan that I miss so much. I was surprised you guys didn't go to Oita or Kagoshima for this video. I guess that just shows how many onsens there are in Japan.
Amazing! Love the longer style videos and relaxing vibes.
Seems like that place is amazing for people with skin conditions
sulphur helps with all kinds of concerns
Great to hear some cool music at the end yor vid.
This video deserves more views. Great Job!
A very beautiful and relaxing video, really makes me want to visit Japan and its onsen:)
