I live an hour or so from there, in another castle town: Matsusaka. I was surprised at the similarities! Merchant district, old-style buildings and streets,... our castle doesn’t have a palace though, since it was defensive only. Oh, and we also don’t have a brewery. Yet. Lots of sakura trees and beef restaurants, though. Kp!🍻

Never would've guessed the end of day bell. That said, I think I've hear that end of day melody elsewhere, maybe it came up in an anime once in the background? Kept waiting for "What are 400+ year old castle towns like where you're from?"

Pour one out for the Americans who don't even have castles, let alone 400+ yr old castles

Here in Australia we've got nothing like it either, only 200 years of European settlement, though we've got 17300 year-old rock art, which is pretty cool.
But the castle in my father's hometown is 1000 years old.

@@benjiusofficial Don't be so down on the USA like that, it was founded just in time for a few Star Forts (the last hurrah of the castle because military technology made them completely obsolete as defensive measures) to be built. The 1560's-ish start to the settlement period was a pretty long time ago, and there was still merit in building a fortified settlement when canons from other Europeans were the worst thing you could encounter. Australia, unfortunately, did miss the boat on castles thought.

That bed crash in the end of the video, I did it so many times on my trips to Japan... xD
I think there was so much to see and such a desire to keep walking and going that by the end of the day you always end up kinda exhausted. xD

I'm from Malaysia and I took my mom on a 10-day road trip driving from Tokyo to Himeji (visited Kawaguchiko, Fujinomiya, Shizuoka, Hamamatsu, Kyoto, Osaka, Himeji) and back through Takayama (Hachiman-Bori, Takayama, Shirakawago, Matsumoto, Yatsugatake, Tokyo) in November 2019. I wish I had been here! But it's hard to choose a place with just western website references as they don't really do off the beaten track like you did. Your videos did help me plan my trip though (the driving video) and I was hoping I could bump into you 😋 great video! Made me miss Japan so much!

It's really hard to tell where to travel, especially if you don't know the area and don't know Japanese. There are a lot of sites that are trying to help with that though (when you Google about travel related Japanese stuff, you'll come across them).
