This was a wild ride! It's sad to see the eShop gone, but I managed to buy quite a bunch of games in both systems thanks to your recommendations. Thanks for all the effort!
You're a hero and a gentleman. I just wish I discovered your channel a year ago instead of the week before the eShop was set to shut down. Thanks to your eShop deepdives, I was still able to get about 95% of the stuff that I wanted, so I can't complain too much. Finding out about progress-locked DLC on some of these games two days before E-Day was a bit soul-crushing though, not gonna lie.
I wish there had been a grace period for dlc or something. Part of the reason I couldn't get everything I wanted was I was too busy trying to beat Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright before the cutoff...
(Still, most of what I'm missing can be fixed legally either through hacking or by obtaining the games I'm missing through other systems, so I'm sure I'll be alright.)
Ditto
Dragon Quest VII DLC is still available. 👍
@@mystery7696 11:31 Layton vs PW is still thankfully still accessible according to Void's research into it.
I think this channel extended 3ds life, when others write this system off, even before eshop closing, for which I am grateful. Good job.
Thanks Wieslaw! This means a lot, glad to have made this event more enjoyable for people! :D
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐IMPORTANT THING I FORGOT TO MENTION IN THE VIDEO⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ THE 3 GAMES TO BE GIVEN AWAY ARE ⭐AMERICAS REGION⭐ONLY!!! APOLOGIES!
ANOTHER THING. People seem to be unable (because youtube auto-removes comments) or understandably unwilling to share their contacts in the comments, so no need to do that if you don't want to. If you are one of the winners I will reply to your comment and then you give me your contact. That's better. Sorry, Im new to this :D
Yeah its sad i used all youre guides and i was very interessted in this special games (automatum lung sor exemple) but the sad thing is that none if thise games are available here in Europe so i had to forget them :(.
Very Sad …
I got the red bonus today from the badge arcade. I didnt get the cow from mario kart from the 3 attempts.

Some more info regarding Pokemon Shuffle:
- The server for the 3DS version went down on March 31, 2023 at 6:00 AM UTC (Shuffle mobile will continue, as far as we know).
- With the server down, you can no longer play the Competitive Stages (the event ones with the gold laurel on them), and you can no longer check in - meaning you cannot get the daily login rewards.
- The server going down also means you cannot update to version 1.5.11 if you haven't already (a fresh install from the eshop is only version 1.5.0). This is important, as 1.5.7 adds like 730+ stages to the game, pretty much doubling the total stage count.
- Special stages (event ones) will still automatically rotate every week on a 24-week schedule, as long as you downloaded 1.5.7 or later. No further download is required once you have updated. However, if you change your clock in system settings or you remove your system's battery, the game will think you tried to time travel, and block special stages until you check in again (which you of course cannot do after the shutdown).
Appreciate your videos dude. It helped me narrow down the "must haves" before the shop closed.

@@Mellow-YT imagine hating your life so much you have to brag to a random stranger on RUclips that you modded your 3DS.

All the work you did was very helpful for both communities on the 3DS and Wii U. Its thanks to you I managed to get every bit of content for both platforms before the closure. (Even though it put me more than $1,000 in debt including buying physical copies of games with dlc...) This felt like a big service of covering everything that was worth your time on the eshops that you deserve something in return!
Obviously keep up the same content you have been doing since its all been enjoyable. I do recommend you look into doing something with Discord since it can help with interacting with your audience, share stuff with them, and if enough people join you can have nice community that interacts with one another.
I would suggest every once in a while do a podcast with other content creators discussing on whatever topics you can come up with and if your interested I can be additional host for you since its something that I want to try out.
Again, thanks a LOT for all the insane work you did cause there is no way I would've had the time to do all the research since I've been dealing with moving, a new job, and some education stuff for my field of work. Since most of that is settled hopefully I will have more time to more content on my channel...
Wait, so you went full completionist mode?!
Oh dear, I'm surprised you're only* $1000 in debt.
I do have to question the point tho, every eshop game is already archived, and what's a huge monetary undertaking for you, is hardly a drop in the bucket for Nintendo, so wasn't it a bit of a waste?
@@julianx2rl 1st off I can decide on what I want to spend my $ on.
I'm glad the systems library is archived which it has been for a while so people who missed out have an option. However I want to experience these games the intended way and I dont want to mod my Hyrule Edition New 3DS which costs a lot of $ nowadays.
Its true that Nintendo and the developers arent gonna get much from a legacy platform but I still want to show support for a platform and games I like. Knowing that I have the ultimate stock New 3DS with everything I ever wanted from the eshop makes me happy.
If you want to emulate/mod your system to play these games that is up to you and its what I have to tell others if they didnt get the games beforehand. But understand not everybody wants to do that since just buying the game from the store is easier than going through multiple steps to mod a system/download and emulate the games on whatever device.
Believe I'm not a stranger to that field, I've done hardware mods to consoles that require soldering and have been emulating since the early 2000s.
Good to see that the Professor Layton games still have active DLC - I had resigned myself to maybe having to miss out on those, so it's good to see they're still there. 🙂
Yeah. I’m glad I watched this. I didn’t think about Layton DLC since I’m still playing the DS ones.
Yeah, me too. Now if only these cartridges would drop in price to a somewhat more reasonable level...
Yeah, but don't get too* confident, because Level 5 can take them out at any second!
Shout out to anyone that saw my comment about the 2 free themes before The Void mentioned it and downloaded them!
12:57 Also yes I was able to get a Red 3 play bonus badge on the practice catcher.
I’ve really been enjoying your retro game reviews! Keep up the content and thank you for the deep dive on 3ds and DS games to look out for! Such a huge backlog to work thru but excited to start
Thank you for all of these eShop videos you've released over the past year! I really like the format you've used for them, it works really great for other topics. Doing more hidden gems, collection showcases, and recent pickups videos in this style would be great. Your content has a really laidback vibe, I love listening to them while I work on stuff!
Your coverage of the eshop closure has been invaluable to me for the past few months. It helped me narrow down and compile not only a list of "must buys", but also a list of other games I might give a try in the future by other means. So, thank you, truly.
Your eShop guide really helped me get some awesome games! Thanks for that. The guides will still be an incredibly helpful tool long into the future of documenting things even now that the eShop is gone. The short synopses of games on things and stuff like the DLC for example were incredibly helpful. Think you should do more eShop Switch release stuff but you have obviously already done a lot off that, so do what makes you happy
yaaayy!! looking very much forward for the 3ds + Wii U tours :) an overview of activity log would be wonderful to add while showing your digital collection! great updates man!! enjoying the videos!

I’ll never forget finishing Professor Layton Vs. Phoenix Wright 4 hours before the eshop closed because I didn’t want to chance missing out on the DLC. What a superb game! Glad to see the content is still there though. You absolutely rock, will be with the channel now going forward! Maybe Switch/other platforms hidden gem coverage? That has been super helpful - so many great titles can fall through the cracks! I’m sure sales videos probably get good views too. And some shorts might help the channel with the algorithm?
I did the same thing, but for Dragon Quest VII. 😅
@@pathfinder1983 ohhhhh, wow - that’s legit, haha. It was on my list to work towards but I knew it was hopeless for me 😅
You forgot to leave your contact information.
Thank you so much you really helped me out I tried my hardest to collect every cool eshop game but I failed to complete my collection but I couldn’t get this far without all your videos
I was able to get a red badge from the Badge Arcade practice catcher a couple of days ago so I can confirm that part still works. And thanks for the RPG Maker FES level recommendations, I'll download those and give them a try sometime.
Also just wanted to thank you again for your entire eshop series. I was able to put a plan together and grab so many cool and interesting eshop games I had no clue existed because of your videos. Your work is greatly appreciated!
Well I'm super happy with what's been going on with your channel Arthur! You did a Herculean job on both eshops and helped me complete everything I wanted, games and dlc, for both systems. I do really hate those "you have to complete to be able to buy the dlc" crap though. I'd just add, at some point, do a vid on all the games that have updates. Just a thought, thanks for everything buddy!
Yeah, I'm sure the developers were trying to be nice with it and make sure no one impulse buys stuff, but no one could've planned for the eShop closing down THIS soon. It's a real shame, especially when we all have some games/dlc we want to get that we haven't gotten around to yet. I think most people would've fairly thought the eShop would be up for at least another 5 years or so or not planned that far ahead

I'm new to the 3ds family and really appreciate the hard work you put in to your eshop videos. I've watched all of them and it helped me navigate thru a sea of gems I had no idea about. Thanks to you my first ever 3ds is filled to the brim.
Man… I wish I had bought more stuff… thank you for the amazing videos all these weeks!
Still making banger content even with the Eshop closed. Props to you never give up

been enjoying your content recently and the work you put in to get all the valuable information out there for everyone to see so that they could figure out what was important for them to get before the eshops demise. thank you
Don't forget to include your contact info
Your content on the 3Ds and Wii U was the most help during this shut down period. I’ve looked forward to every video as they were all an immense help (and strain on my wallet 😂). I’d love to see more coverage of PS3 games/sales though I know you made a video series on that system already. I love finding hidden gems and excellent titles for multiple platforms so, all in all any content you produce will likely be enjoyable.
I just visited the eShop yesterday and dropped a tear. 😢
Arthur, I just want to say that I deeply appreciate all the work you put into your coverage of the 3DS and Wii U eShop closures. I found it immensely helpful in figuring out what to buy before it all closed down, and though I ultimately ran out of time and money, I still got the majority of what I wanted. In large part, I have you to thank for that.
I've largely been a silent viewer in recent months, just watching and liking every video (and taking my own notes), but I have been around a while. My old account was CitrusFury, one you might remember from when you were under 1500 subs, if I remember right. I know you replied to a few of my comments back then. I won't get into why I changed accounts (it's not really important anyway), but I'm the same guy.
I just want to say that I think you're a really wonderful, humble, and conscientious guy with a real passion for the material and a strong attention to detail. I'll be sticking around for sure, and I think you're starting to build up a really strong community. I have no real suggestions about how to continue the channel, but just keep doing what interests you and I'm sure it will be great.
Once again, thanks for all you've done for us Arthur! Wish you all the best.
I think the important thing to note about pokemon bank is that if you didn't get poke-transporter, you're out of luck (legally that is). Since it is a separate download of sorts and you can't download anything except updates from the eShop anymore. Thankfully people archived the entire eShop which is incredible and amazing (thank you Completionist and others).
Thanks to you I discovered a lot of good games for my 3ds. I didn't know about the Dsi Ware and thanks to you I was able to buy some of these before they are gone.
Awesome o herar, M.H.! Glad to be able to help you discover the DSiWare games, some real special ones there. Which DSiWare games did you end up getting!?

I think u gave me the best possible notice in this video. Before the close, i rushed to the end of Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, and can't even get close to it. So Thank You for the amazing news! Now i could do a proper playtrough.
Thanks so much for all your hard work on the many, many videos. Your love of this wonderful little system shines through! I am so appreciative of your videos, I found many hidden gems.
I’m sad to see the e shop shutdown. I hope more 3ds games a ported to the switch.

I just want to say personally, thanks for everything you have been doing. I'm sure putting all this stuff together can take a lot of time out of your day. Your work has been a great help to me and my friends. Even so this has even open my world to a bunch of new games that I would have never thought out giving a try in the first place. I hope you find something else similar to talk about once the eshop is truly gone. Once again thanks for everything.
Those are great news! I was rushing through Professor Layton vs. Phoenix Wright but couldn’t make it on time😅
Hey. I heard you asking for what you want people to see from you in the future. I have to say I don't watch your videos all the time but I love the amazing job you did covering all the games you could in a short but sweet manner. Right to the point and it was great. You did great work making people aware of all the eShop exclusive titles. I am a physical game guy personally so seeing what you have to say about titles I wouldn't normally play in a short and sweet manner was great!
I also want to say I saw the interview you did with the Silverfalls developer and loved it. I watched the whole thing and was hooked. He was such an interesting developer. Hearing where his inspirations come from was so intriguing. It really made me interested in his work and now I can't forget about Silverfalls because of it. I think doing more interviews with game devs would be great. It really gives small Indie devs that could use some attention a great way to aquire some.
All and all great job 👍
If you're like me and downloaded RPG Maker FES player, but not the DLC assets, you'll still be able to download and play some of the less-detailed games, but unfortunately none from the recommendation list in the video.
wait, are you now unable to download the dlc assets through the player app itself? im pretty sure obtaining dlc compatibility for the player app was free, although i don't remember if it goes through the eshop servers or not. if not, you still might be able to get them. it's worth a try at least!
I made the mistake of not getting the DLC earlier and couldn't access it last night. Downloaded a bunch of games I can't play lol

@@michaelsimmons7630 ah well, we got a free game. 😁 Better than nothing. Even though, I would have liked NISA to communicate all this more clearly.
At least there is still some online functionality left for now. Back to the DQ7 grind I go!
As far as content goes, I tend to watch a lot of retrospectives and I will watch nearly any RPG focused video.
I'm partial to the Switch these days, but my PS4 still gets used daily also, at least by my wife.
Thanks again Arthur! I'll be watching regardless more often than not I think.
Ah, thats a great game! The tablets in the post game, make it feel somewhat like Dragon Quest IX with the treasure maps.
Its a shame we couldn't download items to DQVIII. They had a downloadable weapon to add to a recipe to make Erdrick's sword. I have all items except for the weapon for the recipe. :(
Edit: Erdrick's Sword wasn't on the original PS2 game.

I started watching these videos when someone shared the “DLCs that require game progress” video with a local gaming group I’m a part of and I’ve spent the last few weeks watching and learning and wish-listing and buying things recommended here. The last 24 hours, I stayed up all night watching the rest of the videos I missed ends buying ever more. Some of it I regret due to panic buying and I missed some (like automaton lung) that I really really wanted, but I appreciate everything you did here and I plan to continue watching your very well thought out and detailed videos here, no matter what you end up doing. Looking forward to the Wii U and 3DS Home Screen video(s).
I’m really glad you made this video too, because I have a couple codes that I didn’t get to use yet

Thanks so much for all your work making these 3ds and Wii u videos before the eshops closed. I ended up picking up a bunch of last minute games thanks to your recommendations. I especially appreciated the deep dive 3ds and dsiware videos, they were really great, thanks again.
I want the channel to concentrate on that Phoenotopia review going forward!
Thanks again, dude. Keep being you.
I discovered all of your eShop Closure videos too late with only a few days left to buy stuff. I had to skim through all of them but the amount of depth you went into was amazing. So my request for future content would be more in-depth videos on the Switch eShop games so we all are not scrambling when THAT day comes eventually! lol

So happy to hear Dragon Quest 7 is still functional for free DLC. I didn't get around to downloading all the tablets before the eShop closure.
That's because its DLC wasn't tied to the eshop.
Correct me if im wrong but I heard you actually have to finish the game to access dlc? And also what does they consist of?
@Cristian Perez I think that's the prerequisite for one of the three story DLC tablets. It's kind of good one though; even though I "speed" ran the story in 60 hours, I found it to be a really impactful addition to the story.
@pathfinder168 thank you for that. I guess I'll just have to youtube it since I dont have the now 100 dollar game or 60 hours :(
@Cristian Perez I wouldn't sweat it. A game series as iconic as Dragon Quest will likely get re-released again sometime in the future.
so for the future. you should make content you’re interested in making of course, but i think you do a really great job following these delisting/shutdown videos.
a few months ago, the Xbox 360 had some digital content pulled from its shop. when things like this happen, the info is sometimes know ahead of time, and even if it’s for platforms or games you aren’t familiar with, i think you should cover this type of thing
I’d love to see more retro stuff, switch stuff, and reviews!

Thanks for the dragon quest 7 tip. Also for the rusty's real deal baseball.
We all appreciate your work. If you are looking for the next project have you considered this level breakdown but for the playstation 3 and vita store?
Hope you'll continue covering the consoles' physical releases. Maybe via collecting?
Your videos have been helpful particularly on the 3ds side, so thank you. I really appreciate your thoughts and recommendations on eShop/digital games that may have been overlooked, and the research you do on DLC and whether or not it's worth the price. It would be great if you did that for Switch, and even Steam. I mean, if this became a Steam Deck channel I would continue to watch. And I have to wonder if we need to be preparing for the inevitable shutdown of the Switch eShop.
It would also be interesting if you got another 3ds specifically for modding and homebrew, and did a run-down of all of the things you can do with a modded 3ds. Once the 3ds shop fully shut down I went ahead and installed CFW on an old 3ds I had lying around, and it's been fun.
You've done incredible work.
With the closure of "old PSN" looming, how well do you think you can do a similar series?
Oh I absolutely will cover the PS3 and Vita when they announce the closure... again! I did when they scared us the first tim, but briefly cause they reversed it weeks later. Thank you so much for the effort and detail you put into those videos leading up to E-Day. By far the best resource I could find
Discord is a delicate topic as there is absolutely zero effort on side of discord towards data privacy.
A lot of people (especially in EU) are alienated by the fact everything from your IP address to your chat messages become completely available and discord can handle them as they like and sell them to their hearts content.
And due to their EULA they have basically "consent" from everyone making a discord server that anybody who joins your server automatically agree to getting their dada stolen.
That's definitely something to consider on your side!
So a "normal" forum would be better, wouldn't it?
Do you have any recommendations for forum hosts, which provide good accessibility, even on mobile devices?
@@VedekSve well it really depends on what you are trying to achieve.
Some use discord for a community to chat and connect, which would be like a regular forum or just iirc channel.
Other use it also to distribute data (from memes to complete game files) which would benefit from a cloud space repository...
So it really depends on what he is planing to do with it.
I've loved all your content and really appreciated the extreme work you put into all of it. I would absolutely join the discord and be active there.

Sadly I didn't get the DLC for RPG maker so it looks like I can only play someone's version of Dragon's Dogma out of the dozen files I downloaded. Seems to be decent though!
Your videos are amazing, packing in just the right amount of info and video needed to make decisions about games! I also appreciate how if you don't get all the information the first time you make the effort to get it right.
I wanted to thank you cause thanks to one of your video that has been randomly recommended to me, I remembered about the SMT games I wanted to try since the beginning of the 3DS era. They're almost impossible to find for some of them as you said. Sadly I forgot about the DLCs that come with it and codes for DLCs are already more rare and I think it simply doesn't exist for those games. I guess my only available option left is the hShop now. It's not that bad but I think it's not as practical as having the DLCs legit for various reasons. Unless you said the DLCs are still accessible to buy it ? Are you sure about this info ?
Code from the void. Such a great giveaway! Everyone really appreciates this great gesture!
Just got a super bonus on badge catcher 3/30/23. Thanks for your videos!
The eShop may be closed now, but the fun doesn't need to stop here! It's time to boot up your PC or laptop and hack your 3DS and Wii U!
A hacked 3DS and Wii U can run more than just homebrewed software, it can run *mods* as long as you enable game patching.
One of the biggest mods is CTGP-7, an unofficial expansion of Mario Kart 7 which adds new custom tracks (both old and original), new playable characters (which replace specific characters) and new karts (second verse same as the first but with karts instead).
You can also add mods for Mario Kart 7 to CTGP-7 which can include, new playable characters, new custom karts, tires and gliders (internal name seems to be wings though).
However! For karts, tires and gliders you'll be replacing the pre-existing parts. As a result, the models will be different, but not the names or stats and some characters are incompatible which causes the game to crash.
Also, to make the custom characters actually appear in-game you'll need to make sure the file before the actual character files is included or else the game won't load the characters you just added.
But even without the extra custom characters there's still a plethora of new characters to play has. From previous racers included in the series to new characters like Sonic The Hedgehog, Face Raders (Hope you actually played it or you're stuck with the default face) and R.O.B./HVC-012 (R.O.B.'s Japanese model number). Most famous for his appearance in Smash Bros, R.O.B. actually first appeared in Mario Kart DS as a secret, yet surprising unlockable character. CTGP-7 makes both regions of R.O.B. playable, but only one can be selected.
On a related topic, the CTGP-7 devs announced on Twitter that part of the next update for CTGP-7 will include the eShop Bag as one of the default alternate characters to select, on top of that another person (unrelated to the CTGP-7 team) on Twitter recommended that the eShop Bag should be put in every fangame that has a store, gotta give the little fella somethin' to do now that he's out of a job.
The amount of love the little eShop Bag is getting is unprecedented, but welcomed. Such a shame Nintendo refuses to even acknowledge him, but oh well...
It seems the server for RPG Maker Fes has already been shut down. I can’t download other people’s games… Looks like I waited too long. I hadn’t realized that feature was going to be leaving too. 😢
Yeah, others said the same, they closed it 1 day earlier! The disrespect!
Got the red bonus, but it was my first time using the practice catcher.

didn't know about Automaton Lung, but defiantly looks like a fun unique game.

Thanks to you I decided to grab all of the SMT games on the 3ds and I absolutely LOVE THEM!!
I got a red super bonus with the new locked practice machine. Still didn't manage to get the Majora's Mask badges though..
So weird that the shop is still online, but you can't buy any of the software! It's like Nintendo is rubbing extra salt in the wound.
Also, YES you should totally make a Discord server! I'd be happy to join it and talk about video games :D
Awesome makreel, thanks for letting me know you are interested in the Discord. I got a lot of comments like that, so Im pretty sure I will create a Discord channel soon! Yeah it is a weird feeling opening the eshop now, not gonna lie, lol.

Nice to be able to still get updates and Fragrant story has an update to make the game an actual game. I never updated Dragonquest VII for one..
I've gotten at least one red bonus badge since the shutdown!
On a side note, I also grab Tom nook, then grab KK slider to get all the practice badges in with 2 turns. (I've also gotten all 4 with 1 turn with a similar method, but I've only done it twice between 2 3DS's, and I don't know how to make it consistent)

I appreciate your content to the very end. I’m curious how long those free dlc will last to download, need to finish PL vs PW and would like to snag it.
I still have all the yw games (Japanese and na released ones) in physical versions with cases and everything they came with
Yes , you can still get the red super bonus badges on Nintendo arcade. By pure luck I got one whilst listening to your video 😊
I can confirm. I also got a red one like two days ago.
It looks like you can get a total of free 4 plays with the present practice catcher by getting the 10 badges collected free play and the red bonus badge. This would be extremely rare though. Like once every 3 or 4 months of playing everyday.
4 free plays should be enough to get almost every badge in the current rotation though not in a single play of most individual boards.
I already bought Automaton Lung on my one N3DS, so that's it for me. Cheers.
Code from the void. I was able to get all of the must haves on my list - plus several additional titles I wouldn't have given a second sniff. Many thanks!
Hey Jamwerd! YOU ARE ONE OF THE 3 WINNERS OF THE PRIZE DRAW, CONGRATULATIONS! THIS CODE IS FOR THE AMERICAS REGION ONLY. If you don't have an american 3DS, please let me know so I can pick another winner instead. Apologies for forgetting to mention this in the video! Reply to this comment with a way for me to contact you so I can send you the code for the game :D . You have until Monday 8:00am (ET) to reply with your contact otherwise I will pick another winner so the code doesn't go to waste. Thanks for participating and congrats again!
@@FromTheVoidGames Were also codes for the American region only? If that was the case I won't feel bummed about being 2 days late to the vid 😆
Hey Jamwerd! Trying again as time is running short to give this code away. Please respond as soon as you see this to claim your prize, otherwise monday morning I will have to draw another winner so the code doesn't go to waste.
@@FromTheVoidGames Hey! I am happy to hear I won!
@@FromTheVoidGames Super stoked to be getting a code from "beyond the grave", now that the 3DS store is now longer active. Awesome!
Whew!
There was no way I was getting through all of prof layton vs ace attorney, only got halfway through when the e shop closed
I’d better not dally on finishing it and dragon quest though just in case they go down sometime soon
0:41 On my European 3ds, almost nothing has changed. Obviously all the games are set to "unavailable" but it almost looks just like before. All the menus and stuff is still there right now
I’m looking to pick up physical copies of some 3ds games after the hype dies down. Most of these have been produced in mass so not everything is a loss imo.
