Thank you for everything about the 3DS eShop closure! I managed to get everything I wanted, thank goodness! I just have a small list of physical games I'll pick up at some point.
On the other hand I'm very annoyed in how they just left Badge Arcade to die.
Nintendo silently dropped support for the daily free plays and now the catchers don't rotate, it's just the same 32 catchers with the same practice catcher. RIP my almost complete Fire Emblem badge collection, it is now forever stuck at 140/164 😢
At least Pokemon Bank still works thankfully so I can do a living dex using the old virtual console games

I got about 70% of the most important stuff I wanted from 3ds. A couple of things I found out about later that I didn't know was on the eshop. Little ones I was like what that was on there!?!?!

I suggest you keep focusing on valuable digital games ; from my understanding most of us are collectors and willing to discover / preserve obsure games
There would be so much to cover (different plateforms, exclusives, delisted..) and complete what most of retro collection channels lack to cover

It's been quite a ride keeping up with all the interesting games that were going to become inaccessible months out from the E-Shop closure. Thanks for all the work you put in covering every part of it down to the DLC.

Without you, I would have never found Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove on my 3DS as cheap as $7.
I really wanted this version of the game at the time. Because the 3D effect looks super solid along with playing it with the 3DS's good dpad.
But it was $45 digital, and I would not have ever expected it to be as cheap as it was on the closing eShop sale

I literally bought everything from the eshop that my 3DS and Wallet could handle, I have no regrets.
I just kinda hate that they discontinued the Nintendo Badge Arcade, and the Pokémon freemium games, luckily I used them quite a bit back when they were still around.

glad to have you back. i opened my "new 3ds xl" replacing a trigger ribbon and the left thumb stick. The thought of opening it replacing components was worse in theory then reality.

I under-estimated the time that it would take to process my desired purchases, and my credit cards got locked on the final day. So I missed most Level 5 games, the Fire Emblem Awakening DLC, Etrian Odyssey IV DLC, Story of Seasons DLC, Azure Striker DLC, Harmoknight, Pocket Card Jockey, the Denpa Men, Ironfall Invasion, Dementium, many first-party Nintendo games, all DSiWare, and the AI racing games. I will need to mod my console to get what I missed...
Another great video and a solid collection. RIP EShop.

I have a gray and cyan new 2DS (covered with a golden Pikachu case) and a gold and black Zelda 3DS.
I don't actually use the Zelda 3DS anymore after migrating everything onto the new 2DS.

I found some hidden gems on the 3DS from your videos! 😃
To fix your control pad without opening it up look to pick up some WD40 specialist contact cleaner, it used to be called Electrical contact cleaner but you'll be able to see the new branding if you go on their website. You can use it directly on circuit boards as it's non conductive so safe to spray directly into the 3DS (something I've done myself as fixes controller drift issues and clears away debris so really good on consoles and controllers). Use a generous amount and keep clicking the joystick into different directions to massage the solution in and should work for you. If you do end up having to take it apart it's usually the tracking in the stick itself and quite fiddly so wouldn't advise doing it yourself unless you have previous experience and the extra part in case you need to change it, some really good RUclips videos on this you can search. Just to reinforce the point use specialist electrical contact cleaner not regular wd40, let us know how you get on and thanks for the videos, looking forward to future content 👍

I got most of the 3DS eShop purchases and free downloads I wanted. Your videos were very informative and helped me plan what to get. As for my regrets, I passed on the 3D Classics published by Nintendo because they were a bit pricey in Canadian dollars and I already played the standard versions of those games. I was going to buy the Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS fighters and stages DLC bundles, but I didn't because Nintendo shut down the ability to redeem download codes hours before the Wii U and 3DS eShops closed. Nintendo temporarily restored the ability to redeem download codes after the eShops closed, but by then it was too late to purchase the DLC. I forgot to buy Colors! 3D and Butterfly: Inchworm Animation II because I spent so much time on the eShops' final day checking to see if download codes could be redeemed.

I had the same problem with the d-pad on my n3DS! I have no idea whether this is the same for the XL model but the four directional buttons are on their own little daughter board and there are companies making affordable replacements; it doesn't take any major surgery and no soldering is needed.
I'm usually comfortable opening electronics but here everything is very small and very fiddly so it would be really easy to break a ribbon, strip a screw, or just lose something... I was sweating when I reassembled it and found it wouldn't turn on, thinking I had killed it, but I had simply forgotten to reconnect something.
The new buttons did take a lot more force to actuate but after a few months of light use they have been broken in and are feeling good. I hope you can get yours sorted, too.

I played a lot of Katana Zero when it was on Game Pass a few years ago. It's an awesome game but sadly didn't get around to finishing it
Something you can try is using some IPA on a toothbrush and brushing around the buttons and the screen to loosen things and clean the surroundings. Give that a try maybe it’ll work.
Be careful with that, I once ruined an LCD by letting IPA seep into it.
@@Cewrin I was lucky enough to not have that happen to my screen but thanks for the warning, I didn’t consider. As for the method itself I just apply a Q-Tip first then scrub, that way I’m not using so much.
My main regret is not getting 'Need for Speed Nitro X.' I was hoping for a sale, but this was delisted last year when EA delisted a bunch of 'Need for Speed' games, but it was not part of the list of delisted games. Otherwise, maybe some other DSiWare titles, but I went back and fourth on those so much leading up to the eShop closure, that it's ok.

I've only ever opened the New 2DS XL (to see about replacing a battery) so I can attest to what you mean by it being a daunting prospect but for those with the technical expertise I imagine it would be possible to fix a faulty D-Pad like in your console and would likely be a matter of just replacing a worn silicone button membrane, though I'm not sure where you can find a (good) aftermarket part for that.
Anyway, I ended up picking up a lot more virtual console games than you did even though they are arguably overpriced. Yeah, I know they aren't hard to emulate but I just kind of wanted them on a handheld that is dedicated to gaming.
Wild coincidence: my New 3DsXL is black(like yours), fitted with green legend of Zelda faceplates (like yours, again), is missing the rubber on the gyro stick (ditto!), AND also suffers from the right button on the D pad malfunctioning/breaking !

While I really liked the Nintendo Badge Arcade, I never went through the lengths of designing my Home screen around certain things. The limit on icons the 3DS could display was a huge bummer for that, especially as I'd migrated my account from the original to the New once I got that. Had I known about the limit before the New released, I would've kept them both separate so I could have fun with it. I really liked your screens though, and I hope to find some way to have all my games accessible while also playing with the badges I'd gotten.
Ok great Wii U & 3DS eshop are closed. Would be great to do the same list about Switch eshop games. I think few of us don't plan to rush at last minute the same way we did with 3ds/wii u eshop when it would be Switch turn to have eshop closure

I saw a Monstewr Hunter 4 Ultimate Special Edition New 3DS on sale for £250 on offer but I decided not to grab it and am regretting it now. Wondering if I should just buy a Circle pad pro and not worry about another 3DS as I only have Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate digitally and would have to move over my NNID, Nintendo Account and everything.
