Again, huge thanks to Reolink for providing the IP camera used for this video. Check out the RLC-810A here: bit.ly/3qgEj2D

Just an idea: use unix time as token.

Very cool. I did something back in the day with Apache/PHP. I always wanted to be able to stream the video but couldn't quite figure out how. Any chance you'll do live video next?

Thanks for the feedback! What did you have in mind regarding live video? Publishing a live feed somewhere online?

@@TechGuides I wanted to make my own NVR system, similar to ZoneMinder.

@@TechGuides I was excited to see this video as I wanted to build a server that would be able to handle 6 Reolink streams (4x1080p and 2x2k cams). But the bash script only captures an image every 5 minutes. I'm not sure this is useful for a lot of people. Do you think your home server build is suitable for streaming 6 cameras?

@@asian1nvasion you can capture the image at any interval you'd like. Simply modify the cronjob

@@TechGuides Hi thanks for your reply. Yes I know, but cronjobs are limited to smallest increment of 1 minute intervals only. Which means I will need to setup 59 cronjobs to capture a full minute of footage and then stitch each image back together to create a video file (then I'll have to do this for 6 cameras - so 364 cronjobs). This is too complicated, so I was wondering if your home server can save a h265 or h264 stream?? This probably uses less processing power. Reolink also have an FTP option for recording, have you tried this?

What if I want to save a video file every time what motion is detected by the camera? Basically ending up with the same files as Reolink server but without the need to buy a specific server? Without the server the video files are in camera memory card only, but they are very slow to retrieve because of the sluggish response times by the camera. It would be nice to retrieve the detected video files in background and then conveniently look at them from a desktop computer.

Don't buy this camera! Absolute garbage! Seems to have all ports filtered locally - you have to go via reolink servers. Also what the hell is going on with the transcript to this video - completely garbled portuguese/english??
