    Amazing content, thanks very much. This was the method I was looking for (https + free domain + ddns)
    I can say that being able to do these things is like a superpower to me, and at the same time it is so easy to learn them. So far I've realized there are multiple ways to solving remote homeserver connection (without static IP and without paying for a domain): using DDNS and free domain, SSH tuneling, or just using onion routing addresses. Thanks again, and thanks youtube!

    Great video! Want to add that many routers have a section called DDNS that does the job of updating the IP address on DDNS provider without the cron configuration on the server

      Your ISP might be using CGNAT wherein he assigns a private ip address to your router instead of a public ip address. You can check by verifying the public ip address that pops up in whatismyip website with that of ipaddress assigned to the router

    Thank you so much for this tutorial! I have nextcloud on my server and dynu pointing to my home IP (I manually typed it in) fortunately it hasn't changed in 6 mounts. I don't have have the sites-available directory, so looks like I need to watch your tutorials with Apache. I use nextcloud daily for school and I want my cockpit web interface accessable. I'm not sure if I can cancel my SSL certificate for nextcloud. Bit warden looks cool, I'll try that too. I also run Plex and both Minecraft java and bedrock servers, so this is a busy computer. I'm sitting at 90GB of RAM usage.

    Hi, I was wondering how to remotely access a server I use on the road that I connect to the internet via mobile hotspot. So, my setup is mobile hotspot>wireless to ethernet adapter>my device (only accepts ethernet port) Since my mobile hotspot does not provide a static public IP address, how could I use this method to get access? Thanks

    Nice video, how about if I have bought a domain and use my own domain instead of domain from ddns provider? Thank you

    • @TechGuides
      @TechGuides  4 месяца назад +1

      Thanks! If you bought a domain name its actually much simpler. You just have to point the A-type record to your public IP address. Usually domain sellers have small scripts that you can use together with an API key to periodically update that record if your ISP keeps assigning you a new IP address.

    Great video on remote access ! ! Do you have any tips on best method and practices (and the most secure) to remote connect to the Proxmox VE Server Web console UI without connection going through some sort of central pipe, like VPN or Cloudflare or such. I want to connect to my Proxmox Web UI remotely as I travel a lot and don't want messy subscriptions either.

    Hello Roman. Following your series my home network work great EXCEPT that I am unable to access Nextcloud with the URL provided by the DynDNS using a computer within my home network (or even the IP address associated to the URL). I can still access it using the local IP address or I can access it with 4G or from another network. Do you have an idea what could cause this

      @@TechGuides Thanks for the prompt reply, but it seems I was stupid. After my router I have an eero mesh network router that it closer to my server and it has an eth port. So, on my router I port forwarded to the eero and from the eero I port forwarded to my server. If finally dawned on me that I was complicating my life. I moved the server on to the router, changed the nic setting and the port forwarding on the router and everything works like a dream.
      I do have a remaining question though:
      I don't happen to have a spare domain, but is there a way to solve the following error: "Accessing site insecurely via HTTP. You are strongly advised to set up your server to require HTTPS instead, as described in the security tips ↗. Without it some important web functionality like "copy to clipboard" or "service workers" will not work!"
      Thanks for your videos, lots of great stuff for me to learn.

    It seems that your ISP doesn't block the port 80 of your home server's IP address, ami I right? This kind of ISPs are hard to come by, usually they don't allow 80 or 443.

    • @TechGuides
      @TechGuides  Год назад

      Yeah I can easily access any port I wish on my IP. You sure its no simply blocked by your router? You will definitely need to port forward anything to you device if you want outside access
