This channel is so underrated. I've checked out every video you made and even though I already knew a lot of stuff you mentioned here but you streamline it in a way that I'm 100% sure that I know how it works afterwards. Not to mention how easy it is to follow along with stuff I wasn't sure about. I haven't come across a channel that is just general knowledge like this, most of the videos focus on a specific category, like networking or servers, but you have it all and it's really a great foundation for people just getting into IT and it's great for those who were never sure how exactly some of the aspects work. What's also great is you manage to pack this into a 5 minute nugget which is awesome as everybody can invest so little time to gain so much out of it. I really hope you continue to do what you do. If you ever run out of topics message me, I'll be glad to brainstorm ideas with you.

A few questions I'm left with:
    1. With normal DNS you also don't type in the IP address. So what's the difference between DNS and DDNS? You mentioned that a DNS update can take 24 hours. Is DDNS simply faster, is that the difference?
    2. How does a DDNS service know what your new IP address is?

THANK YOU! This is the best explanation of DDNS!
Highly recommend this video & the many others that are offered in this series on a variety of computer topics & published by PowerCert. I'm personally grateful that you have freely shared your expertise in a useful & meaningful way with all of us here on RUclips! I've learned many valuable IT/networking/computer concepts from your published video content. These videos are engaging, visually pleasing, & easy to understand for almost anyone who has an interest, but who likely has NOT been formally educated as a Computer Tech/IT Specialist. I am merely a self-educated, "hobbyist", computer/IT Tech Enthusiast who needs this information quickly and concisely. It helps me quickly understand fundamental computer concepts which are needed to build my knowledge base & optimize my developing computer skills. Simply would not have the time nor money to dedicate to any formal computer education classes to learn this info. Thanks for sharing this valuable information here & making these excellent videos!

Thank you so much sir . I extremely appreciate your videos and your explanation. However I have some questions please would you answer me ?! why do IP ADDRESSES change constantly when using DDNS? What's the purpose of changing IP addresses? is it a security concern ?! And lastly why can't we use a DNS instead of a DDNS to access devices in my home ?!
    Thank you in advance.

I think you missed a point. The home router must be capable of DDNS. Usually you register your DDNS server in the home router and the home router informs the DDNS server if he got a new IP adress.

You can also have an application (service) running on a home PC that is left on all the time, that will periodically send updates about your IP information to you DDNS provider.

Your DNS videos were great. But, this video doesn’t explain enough about how the ISP knows to route the domain to DDNS server(s) vs. resolved within the static DNS scenario. For example, does DNS resolver send requests to the relevant DDNS server(s) based on DNS routing records in the DNS Authoritative DNS? Please send me a good place for more info in this regard if you can.
