Why doesn't the resolver go straight to authoritative server instead of going to root, then tld then authoritative. Doesn't it make sense to go straigh to name server?
Man, I can't believe it, every video I've seen on this channel is pure gold, all the explanations I'm looking for are clear in videos of no more than 6 minutes.
I taught myself most of what I know about networking, including DNS, and thought I had a pretty comprehensive grasp on it. But I didn't know I had been missing the TLD servers this whole time. Very interesting, thank you for adding to my knowledge.

The reason of using DNS is not only the network address translation from human-readable form to computer understandable format. Firstly it allows to access different servers by one convenient name (you can transfer your site to new server with different IP address or just sale your domain name to someone else). Secondly it allows you to provide different services on the same domain name (for example, you may wish to have your own mail server on your domain). 2. Some people in comments are confused about "server that knows everything", so it is important to make clear that such server knows everything about its domain zone. Thank you for your video!

For like 5 months I was so obsessed with learning this that when I finally stopped teaching myself all about it I had no idea what to do with it. I didn't have a project for it or anything. Anyway this lesson brings back memories especially about Bind9 master slave DNS setup.
Only an og software engineer would ever think there's nothing wrong naming devices with a number. He knew damned well he could have fixed it in 5 minutes but was like "nah... my work here is finished. Time to go take apart my rocket tractor."
I just read 20 pages in my book to understand DNS. I could not understand anything. I had seen this video before and had remembered how clear it was . I literally re-watched it now and its MUCH MUCH MUCH simpler and more intelligent than this book i RENTED for 80$.

I just want to say that the simplicity of illustration and the inclusion of very beautiful but not distracting animations in this video, gave me a very good experience and helped totally understand the concepts of DNS that were introduced. This is the easiest subscribe to a channel I've made.

I just read 20 pages in my book to understand DNS. I could not understand anything. I had seen this video before and had remembered how clear it was . I literally re-watched it now and its MUCH MUCH MUCH simpler and more intelligent than this book i RENTED for 80$.
