Yeah
But the 1030 doesn't rock 😉
They are pretty good value used for people who want to try out this PC gaming thing. 😁
These cards are great on OEM desktops with limited PSU power or small factors that only accept single slot GPUs, it's the only card that used to fit on one of my mini itx computers, until I found a Yeston RX550 on aliexpress, it's slighlty faster in many games.
*if you live in the us and some parts of europe
It's 2021. The only graphics cards in stock are the GT 710, GT 730 and GT 1030, making the GT 1030 the best GPU by default.

I have a “gaming” system with a DDR5 GT 1030, and I’m pretty happy with the performance. I’m probably not the best reviewer though due to my previous computer having Intel HD 300 integrated graphics, which does mean that I see 30fps at low settings 720p as amazing performance.
i havent been able to talk to anyone that owns this card. whats it like playing with is it and what games are you able to play? (performance, etc)
@@forza3212 it’s not bad after having had it for a few more months. I can get decently optimized indie games running at least at 30fps, and most triple a games from before 2019 seem to run somewhat well if I lower the settings quite a bit. Also, that’s all with an i5 2500 and 8gb of DDR3 ram
@@chococheez0 alright thankyou. what about gta 5, valorant, fortnite and any racing games? if you don't play them that's fine but what games in particular do you play the most and whats the performance for each?
@@forza3212 Valorant can get to 60 pretty consistently, fortnite performance can get ugly, even at lowest possible settings. I don't play GTA 5 or racing games, but I do know that GTA 5 should be playable, and most racing games should be fine as long as they don't use a ton of modern graphics tech. The most performance intensive game I've gotten playable is probably Rage 2, an open world game from 2019. To say that the gt1030 a “crappy Nvidia card” is a bit misleading, the GDDR5 one is perfect for upgrading lower-end small form factor PCs, and a great budget card for people who only buy new stuff
Maybe 2 years ago...
For basic use, the gt 1030 is pretty good for supplementing computers that handle light gaming or other office tasks. Cheap and effective.
The RX 550 would definitely beat that though.

Ultra Low, 600p 20 FPS.
1030 is considered by many because of its low power consumption, and the reason is, just like you said in the video, for upgrading mid 2013-2015 HP and Dell desktop PCs into budget gaming PCs.
The big factor that was missed in this video was the limited PSU wattage. Most of these types of PCs have 275-300W PSU and limited to 30W for the GPU, and rarely does anyone upgrade the PSU in those types of PCs.
I would like to see a RUclips video title that’s “trying to over clock my GT 710 to the speed of an RTX 3090”

@@pengu6335 I'd rather buy a used Rx 470. Much higher performance, around the same price.
@@mhx6437 I agree with you there. Some people just don't get those for whatever reason.
Although at this point, the Vega 8 on a Ryzen 3 3200G will be just as fast with some overclocking, so for a new budget gaming build there's no reason to ever get a 1030 over either an APU or an RX 560.
Also note that the GT 1030 has modern video hardware acceleration features.
Thats true. I was pretty disappointed to see though that it lacks a lot of modern Geforce experience features.
Actually, for some reason the GT 710 has NVENC while the 1030 does not. I don't know why the 1030 doesn't have it, but the 710 i think it's because it's a cut down version of a gpu that has it.
For a comparison that's more strongly determined by modernity of the cards, I wonder how the GT 730, 740 and 745 compare to the 1030 (and the future 1010)!

I recently got a GT 1030 GDDR5 version brand new from my local microcenter for just $60 (it was on clearance as they were dumping some of their old stock), and for the purpose in which I used it, I would say it's simply amazing. I acquired a brand new small form factor HP desktop that has a i5 2400 and 8gbs of ram for $20 at my local thrift store a month earlier, and I planned to upgrade it and give to a relative who I thought would be interested in getting into computer gaming. The card made the computer capable of playing most games (albeit on lower settings) and watch 4k 60fps videos on RUclips with ease. It's definitely worth it when it comes to upgrading a old sandy bridge computer into a gaming capable machine for yourself, relative, or friend. I wouldn't call the GT-1030 bad at all.

question:Should you pay twice as much for the gt 1030?
answer:yes '-'
I recently converted an old Dell server into a 'gaming PC' (I had an incredibly tight budget) and it made a lot more sense to buy a used 760 than to buy either of these cards. The TDP meant a new power supply but I still spent less than buying one of these new, and the gaming performance is a fair bit better.
GT 1030 is a good card for a true 4K 60Hz HTPC/Media setup over HDMI. Especially if looking for a Low profile half height card. Also make sure its the GDDR5. Not the SDDR4 version that severely cripples the performance of the GT 1030 card. The MSI GT 1030 does away with the outdated DVI and has HDMI/Display Port.
My MSI GT 1030 ($68USD) has 2 HDMI ports. It is in an HP Z210 SFF box (Running two monitors @ 1080p). Moving up to an SFF RX560 isn't an option at the prices people are wanting for it.
The 1030 got me into PC gaming! I bought a used i3 550 pc for £50, then added a 1030 and found it could play games. Discovered Borderlands and the rest is history. Could even play Doom at 720p!
I just picked up a 1030 for my optiplex. Turn it in a emulation station
I actually have a GT 710, for extra monitor ports (quad monitor setup with a GTX 1080 and I like to keep the HDMI port free for VR).
Also, VGA is nice to have. Just in case, as well as being able to use a DVI to HDMI adapter on the GT 710.
So it's a great second card if you just want some extra display outputs.

Well, I got low profile hp desktop with Core 2 Quad CPU for basicaly nothing which I use as a HTPC. Then I upgraded my tv to a 4K model and suddenly, buying 1030 does not sound as such a bad idea.
Like I said by the end of the video, that is a great use case for the graphics card. 😊
Yup. This is pretty much the only reason why I need this graphics card. I have an Intel i5 system without integrated graphics that I want to use for a retro gaming rig, so I was hoping that I could use the GT 710 to connect to my 4k TV, but it looks like I'm going to need to buy the 1030.
the reason I'm considering this is because I want a cheap esports/older games pc, and anything higher end than the 1030 would be useless because it would be cpu bond by the old i3 in this office pc
I think I’ll still go with the 1030 because I do need it for light gaming on games like battlefront but thanks for the comparison
My son has one in his slim Dell and as you demonstrate, it plays e-sports games just fine.
That is the perfect use case for that graphics card. 😃
Yeah, ask just about anyone on Dell support forums for SFF PCs and they'll recommend a 1030. You need something that's a) low profile, b) low wattage, c) quiet, d) cheap. "But an XYZ is way faster!" is like telling someone to fit a 6-litre V12 in their Ford Fiesta.

pretty sure is mostly people who buy a ryzen or something like that with no IGPU and can't afford a good GPU at the moment, just so you can at least use the computer. also, schools.
why buy the gt 710 if the integrated gpu is almost the same, seems like the gt 710 is totally useless
Because high end AMD cpus have none and you don't want big secondary gpu. gt710 is perfect for that.
Valdis The 3400G’s iGpu is much better though. Hell, even vega 8(ryzen 3 igpu) is in the same level as the 1030
@@sebawuba8533 3400g is not comparable with 3900x.
Valdis in what kind of real life situation would you pair a gt 710 with a 3900X
@@sebawuba8533 As a secindary gpu, when I need 4+ displays and dont want to obstruct aurflow to main gpu.
You know you're poor when you watch this
if i had a 50 dollar budget for a gpu i would get a ryzen5 5600g with the vega 8 igpu
the vega 8 beats the 1030 by 20%
I keep hearing "1050". anyone else?
Take off your rose tinted ear muffs
You forgot to add "Ti".
"ten fitty"
"THIDDY"
I'm laughing at this because I wanted to upgrade my PC to a 1030 because I edit videos with my 710 and I'm reading people coments saying that 710 can't handle 4k tvs and well... My gt 710 handles that and premiere pro editing in 1080p lmao
gt 1030 is perfect for low spec gaming , calling it crappy is very wrong.
it's crappy for it's price. no ands, if,s or buts, about that
Who still watching in 2024??

It's October 2021. Maybe I am too late to this discussion, but I would like to add another issue that I faced with these two cards. My current gigabyte GT 710 card has become a bit noisy. So I buy an ASUS GT 1030. I remove the old card and install the new one. There were no problems with installation, but it did NOT support the native 2560/1600 resolution of my Dell 3011. I pull it out and reinsert the old card and all is well. And, btw, I do have the latest drivers...v472.12. ASUS tech help was clueless. Go figure...
I bought the 1030 purely for the 4K output for my work-from-home PC. Don't plan on doing any gaming on it. My work PC has a 3rd gen i7 that does not support 4K60 so I plugged a 4K monitor and a 1080p monitor into the 1030 and used onboard graphics for the 3rd monitor (1080p). Had to enable both iGPU and dGPU concurrency in the BIOS. Works a treat.
Things going for my first piece you build and I'm getting the GT 1030 thanks to you because the GTX 1050 is $300 right now
I think that the Nvidia T400 is a much better card for the lowest-end budget systems. It can be bought for around $100, has GDDR6 2GB VRAM, and works quite well for its low power consumption of just 30W.
Good compare. Are thous has NVENC encoder ? Is this card helping for basic video editing?
my friend has a gt 1030 and a i7 3770 and he plays valorant, csgo, and LOL at 144+ fps on low, and ive played on it and it feels great with close to no input lag. gt 1030 rocks especially with the gpu market right now.
Back when pc parts weren’t over priced😓
Yes exactly
You could always try to find the vapour-ware that is the GT 1010.
I hocked up gt710 and it showed me the blue screen on startup and beeped 3 times before going off. Do you know why? I have the HP Pavilion Slimline s5-1060 Desktop PC
