Worked perfectly - much appreciated! There are alternative ways to achieve the same ends, but this one involves the least amount of disassembly to get the final results!!

This worked perfect! I was getting very frustrated having to restart the generators all the time! We run a food trailer, I would get so mad when I had to mess with them!

I don’t know what curse I’m under but I’ve tried this method as well as every other suggestion on RUclips and none of them work for me at least. However when I connect everything as normal it runs fine. This is very aggravating as I work out of my van as well and when the generator is out on the ground it runs flawlessly but when in the cargo box and yes with an added exhaust extension outside the box with the lid open if the wind blows or the air stirs the fumes immediately shut it off. I hate defeat but Im about ready to chunk it because I can’t continue to lift a 100lb generator out at each stop.
I do appreciate those who do genuinely offer helpful tips on RUclips.

I just tried the bypass, not to rub salt in the wound, but it worked perfect!

It only takes a small exhaust leak to kill you. It sounds like youre describing running it inside the cargo box that you also occupy, which is dangerous.

I had mine for two years exactly like this one, where he tied two wires together if you look on the other end of the plug there's a yellow and green..
With a precision screwdriver I removed it from the plug applied heat shrink problem solved

My 3500 (purchased Oct 2023 - battery and pull on the right side) was not fixed by this modification, and ceased to even turn over until I reconnected the wires. Be warned, this may not work for you even if you have the same model. A real schematic would be truly helpful.

So I have this exact style and version of generator. There are 2 versions of the new style. One version has the pull handle and the oil change door on the same side of the generator. The other version that's in this video has the pull handle and the oil change door on opposite sides of the generator. In each version of generator, the CO sensor wiring is different and has different colored wire.
When I rewire my generator in the way that this video suggests, the generator will only sometimes turn off with the OFF-RUN-START switch is turned back to OFF. Other times, the generator will just keep running. I find that if I let it run for a few seconds, it will turn off. If I let it run over a minute, it will not turn off when I turn the switch to the off position. I have to turn the switch to the "Start" position and choke it out. Any further suggestions on what to do?

This would be a much better tutorial, if we knew where the sensor was, and what it looked like, BEFORE you cut and bridged the wires. 👎

I did not want to rip the whole top of the generator off and this was just done on the fly.

There's a connector with a brown yellow and white wire... cut all three, connect white and brown. Reconnect. It works

There are 4 different 3500 HF generators. I believe this fix only works on the one with UPC # 193175458008. The wires shown, lead directly to the CO sensor hidden on top of the control panel box and back to the coil to kill the ignition. A second set of wires and plug run to the led light on the panel. Will not run unplugged, needs to be bypassed as shown by the original video post.

The CO shutoff system is a critical safety feature which can help to prevent the risk of sudden illness and death resulting from the accumulation of undetected CO, which is an odorless, colorless gas impossible for the human senses to detect. The health and safety of our customers remains our top priority and we recommend discontinuing any use of this product without a functioning CO shutoff system.

Will you repair it? if so, let us know where to send the generator, or offer a solution.
