I own a mobile detailing business. Imagine how frustrated I was when after my 1st job I go to my 2nd and that stupid alarm goes off. I had to cancel my RV appointment. As a business owner there is nothing worse than loosing money because of a stupid sensor. That’s what brought me to your video. I appreciate you taking the time to show this. You’re right the other videos out there are terrible.
Exactly why I’m here as well. Last week, first hot week of the year imagine my panic when my generator shut off and wouldn’t stay running longer than a few minutes at a time after that - mid wash. Soap all over my client’s car. Electric pressure washer. Ho-ly shet.
Just purchased new Predator 3500 with CO detector. Haven't unboxed yet, but good to know the process to bypass if issue comes up. Charcoal cannister seems like may need bypass as any over filling fuel tank runs into cannister creates a run rich issue. Thank you for detailed video. RUclips creators often very helpful.
Glad to help, hopefully I will save someone heartache in the future, returning one of these at Harbor freight is not an easy task, they will not take it back with fuel on it.
Forgot to add, Remove bottom three bolts to get cover off, 8 mm wrench. Sorry took me so long to explain how to get the cover off. Hope you enjoy the video.
Thank you for posting this video are you mobile detailing? And I always bought generac and champion generators they are awesome! I had one stolen in another one I sold to buy for my travel trailer and my work went to harbor freight and he had these open box predator 3500. Disappointing CO sensor. I should have just stuck with champion generators
Thank you for your post and thank you for your response. I just fixed mine tonight. use it for mobile detailing. One is a champion generator. They have excellent customer service and I just picked up the predator as an open box for 550 I also loved my champion generator. It's a 3500 as well with the 30 amp plug. I really don't like the twist plug on the creditor for the 30 amp. I also have a travel trailer so I have to put it to the test to run my AC. Hopefully the predator can keep up😂
Sorry I was venting! Mines only a few months old. I’m trying to cook using my InstaPot and it keeps shutting off. Love your simple and to the point video. ❤
@@RVFreeDathey don't take it apart at the store. In fact they don't let you return it with gasoline in it. So they can't even check if it works. Also pro tip. Write on the generator the date of purchase. So you know when your warranty is up.

Same here it happens to me in the after noons when the wind starts blowing. I even have a flex pipe exhaust
Did it work for you?
@@validatedcustomer604 yes it worked

@@EvanRKnipp yikes hope everything worked out in the end. No fun.
Knowing what the wires DO would be super helpful for those whose colors do not match.

That tag is good to leave on as it shows D.O.M. of April, 2023. I took off all the tags but mine is a 2020 model, no CO sensor.
I bought a metal dip stick with a magnet for mine.
Why no CLASS ACTION lawsuit? This problem is common to most Harbor Freight Predator generators.

Hello, I use it for camping and as an external power source for my home.

Does this bypass version still allow the kill knob to work? Several bypass video will solve the sensor issue but also bypass the knob’s off position.
Mine has the dial on the main panel that I rotate to stop. Yes this dial still works and shuts the unit down as advertised.
I’m hating mine right now!!!!!! Will doing this mess up my warranty.

Yes, unfortunately it will void your warranty.

Maybe a dumb question but all these videos show messing with the wires. Why not just stick a piece of duct tape over the sensor?
The sensor may need a constant flow of air through it in order to keep the engine running. If you did this, it would prohibit that.
