I love my Newtron and my Atom but I do wish they were a smidge thinner right behind the edge. The pass through material great but starting a cut isn't quite as effortless as other knives even at 15dps. Tried lots of polishing, more toothy edges and even gone all the way to 10dps and not a big change. Great knife and certainly slices well but I wish it was ground as thing as other stuff, lean into the "not a hard use knife" with something that is 13 thou behind the edge. That said, TRM is amazing to deal with. Had an issue with chipping in the same spot, even after the equivalent of 15 sharpening worth of material, it wouldn't stop so they sent a new one with a return envelope that was prepaid. I would have been fine with sending it in but was *thrilled* with how they handled it. some of the best CS I have ever had.

Even if this video was promoted by someone else, thank you so much for making this! I love your reviews, as with many other channels, but I started to notice a trend a few months back that very few knife reviews (that I see, at least) ever go into any detail about how well the knife cuts or what tasks it’s suited for. I learned some time back that there’s no right or wrong way to be a knife enthusiast- barring illegal activities, of course- but I’ve always had a heavy leaning to the actual utility of a knife as opposed to their intrinsic artistic or engineering value. Being very poor, I only own a tiny handful of knives. I’ve always been the kind of person to develop an intense personal bond with my possessions, so that’s fine by me. I daily carry a Spyderco Dragonfly 2, a spear point Case Barlow, and an ESEE Izula. Each knife has a specific role. The Dragonfly is my primary knife since it has such a thin edge and just the right subtle curve of the blade to allow it to slice through any light- to medium- duty material. The Barlow fills the same role, with the added touch that it’s a totally non-threatening design that I can use around people who would otherwise be made nervous even by the tiny Dragonfly. The Izula is my pocket tank. It handles heavy-duty tasks which would damage or destroy my other knives. It’s so absurdly robust that I’ve used it as a shovel to dig up sprouted saplings growing in places I didn’t want them. I’m working toward getting myself a Bark River Mini Aurora in 3V next as an all-purpose hard use knife for tasks that demand more blade length than the Izula can offer.
