Thanks, Julie. I mostly agree with your tutorial and I strongly support telling people to NOT use compressed air (thus blowing lint and fibre deeper into the mechanisms). I also tell my customers that after they have brushed out the debris they use a vacuum to suck-out errant fibers. Your videos are great and I recommend them to people to jog their memory if they forget things we have covered in the Dream Machine Classes that I teach in our store.
Hi Julie. I have brother xv8500d and when I was learning with my daughter how to sew she broke a needle. I did what you did in this video but the needle wasn’t there. What now? Did that happened to you? Can you make video how to take out broken needle? Please:(
Hi Sharon, I buy min from AllBands and AllStitch ... hope this link helps allstitch.net/product/filtec-clear-glide-plastic-sided-bobbins-80-bobbins-class-15-style-a-white-3792.cfm
Honestly I check the bobbin area before starting a new project and depending on what thread I was using. For an embroidery project I just pop the bobbin up and check inside the case and if I see little fuzzies I pop the bobbin plate off and clean under the bobbin case area. Sometimes when quilting I actually need to clean it partway through because quilting cotton thread (I use Aurifil and YLI) produces a lot of lint. The involved cleaning of removing the needle plate I do after completing the entire quilt including free motion quilting.

Thanks Julie, how often should we clean the bobbin area? Should we make it after 8hrs of sewing when the needle is replaced or more often?
