Leaving high school one day..a cicada was flying in the air..out of no where, like a defensive back coming out of no where tackling the running back, a cicada killer hits it in mid air and tackles it..the scream of the cicada like an alarm dying out..crazy nature i tell you
Damn 😮
I saw one of these take down a cicada once. A cicada landed on the sidewalk across the street from where I was on my bike at a stop sign. From over my left shoulder, I heard what sounded like a tiny propeller plane. I guy on the other side of the street saw the humungous wasp and stopped in his tracks as it grabbed the cicada and stung it. The scream was almost human.
Neither the guy nor I wanted to move until the wasp flew away. We looked at each other in disbelief and didn't speak.
You either think of writing horror stories? You're a natural!
One flew past my head with a cicada and went in a hole right behind me. I thought it was a hummingbird at first. Amazing!
A few years ago I could see a cicada making its calls on a tree when suddenly a wasp jumped on it and the call shifted into this eerie screaming. The only way I could describe it was human-like as well.
@@vladpoofin1759 WOW I never knew they screamed when attacked/stung. We learn something new every day 😁.
I remember seeing a cicada killer and cicada fall from a tree. I had no idea what the cicada killer was, but I went to step in it, until it buzzed at me. I feared for my life as the buzz was quite intimidating.
kevin stettner that happened to me too
I guess that Buzz meant: Get Back Or You'll Be Next!!!
I found a huge nesting area in my town, so lots more cicada killer footage coming soon!
Awesome 👍
Y’all all realize we really just watched a Murder😂
🤡
Damn u right 💀
Not actually. The Cicadas are in put into a paralyzed state. The female wasp lays her eggs on the Cicada which is later a food source for the larvae. The Cicadas are basically eaten alive.
@@K4HLER couldn't have said it better myself
Lol facts
We have alot of those here in Georgia also. The first time I saw one back in the early 90s,when I was a teenager, I thought I was about to die! Then I noticed how they don't even mess with you.
Used to have these things in my back yard every summer.. Scary as sht cuz how huge they are and they will fly right up to your face as you were mowing the lawn.. I feel bad for killing them all the time because now I'm learning they are harmless to ppl and beneficial.. such cool insects
They aren't harmless, they fuck up the soil and harm your plants
Downvotes are hilarious. They must be bots. This is awesome footage of a native species beneficial to the cicada eradication effort. Thnx!
no such thing as hilariox or not, any can be any fx and ok
Your comment is babble my friend.
Cicada eradication effort? Cicadas are native too, was there some sort of cicada war last year?
Cicada eradicating? 🤦♂️ uhh no thank you! I like them
Yeah, I should balance my original statement. I don’t want them eradicated. They’re a good food source, prune mature trees, and commit nitrogen as a soil amendment for trees when they perish. It’s the circle of life. I admit my bias to some insects. Still don’t like mosquitos.
imagine you wanted a burger so you had a drag the whole cow back to your house
Don't let their appearance scare you. These wasps are gentle giants :)
They really are, they don't come near you or anything.
Well these are as aggressive as those Yellow Jackets that you'd want to get rid of or stay completely away from
Screw that one just landed on my chair behind my head in my backyard. Came near but didn’t sting
@@david.the.disaster It was probably just checking you out to see what you were.
Soma Cruz well I don’t appreciate it Mr.Wasp
I have them bastards in my yard they sound like humming birds when they fly by
Don't be afraid of these wasps. They are non-aggressive towards us humans.
They dont sting.
@silky johnson yes, but they are not at all aggressive.
Hornet says i think its dead enough, immediately comes back, NOT DEAD ENOUGHHHHHH
I saw this wasp here in NY a few years ago. I'm expecting to see more of them this year when the cicadas come out.
So, i was at a funeral before they were about to put the casket in the ground, and suddenly one of these bad boys drops down from a tree right infront of this lady im standing next to, and its ALREADY EATING THE CICADA. She screams and runs away and i felt so bad but was trying SO HARD NOT TO LAUGH and also not SCREAM myself.
I witnessed these things in action this morning while working on golf course bunkers. I was weed eating the bunker wall, getting rid of sprigs and runners in the sand. I look and I see this huge flying insect or something another. I get the hell out of dodge back to my cart because it scared the shit out of me, I look and it’s a cicada killer carrying a cicada back to its den that it had burrowed into the bunker wall.
Nice Footage! they're fascinating creatures. Have you checked out the emerald jewel wasp? Very similar to what do cicada killer does, but totally different type of way of neutralizing its prey. I won't spoil what it hunts, please check it out. I had no idea at first that the prey had a natural enemy
So cool. Always wanted to see that place in Sudbury. Glacier left over sand?
Yes that was what I was told.
I love both these insects.. and thankfully I have them in my bug collection ❤️
Just imagine being totally conscious and laying there waiting to see what happens next
Cicada killer looks creepier than the cicada. Cicada is like the ghost rider.
These are common where I live. I watch these hunting cicadas in my backyard.
i saw one today while on my trampoline, the cicada killer dropped the cicada from a leaf and it wasn't fully killed, it made a loud noise like it was very panicked as it fell, i went inside and came back later and threw the cicada out of the trampoline lol
The cicada killers don't kill the cicadas. They basically paralyse them and take them back to their nest and lay their eggs on them. When the larva hatch, they will eat the cicada while it is still alive. Sick.
Ted Growney oh... then what u said
Ted Growney not all the time you probably got that mixed up on the tarantula hawk
@@toxicgucci9823 there's a tarantula hawk ?
Oh ... My ... God ... That's it for me .
@@leslierequenez2976 If your thinking its an actual tarantula mixed with a hawk then no, that would be terrifying. Tarantula hawks look like these things but bigger and scarier looking. Japanese hornets are scarier than both of these though. Those things are the literal spawns of satan.
I've heard these things aren't aggressive towards people, and I wanna believe that, but they're fuckin terrifying
This is what people see when they see a “murder hornet”
Just made that mistake today
but yet they are of two different species of wasps.
@@ariesawrath6215 One is a hornet and the other is a wasp
@@ariesawrath6215 all hornets are wasps but not all wasps are hornets
Dude where do you live? The desserts of Massachusetts??
😹
Straight out of an Alien movie
Where tf in sudbury MA is this???? Went to LS I have never seen an open field/lot of sand!
Memorial Forest near Hop Brook
They are so beautiful
Awesome video!
I hope i am not a cicada in my next life
I really enjoy just watching cicada killers do their thing. When the males are fighting eachother its fun to watch, and they're so chill they'll just sit on my stairs next to me and I get cool pictures of them
Nice 👍😀
Who else is here from Brave Wilderness?
Nature is always amazing.
We need these this year. Cicadas are coming out.
Where in Sudbury is this? I grew up there, but I don't recognize this location.
The sand pit in Memorial Forest.
Omg it cleaning it’s antlers is so crazy lol
These are cool!
Ive found specimens up to 3 inches long why do these look so small
Bugguide.com says maximum size is 1.57 inches so I doubt you have seen this species 3 inches long.
I saw at least a 2 incher..fucker was gargantuan
Me:Mom can we have giant Asian hornets in America
Mom:no we already Giant Asian hornet in America
Giant Asian hornet cicada killing wasp
The doomguy of cicadas 💪🏻🤟🏻
How does it kill the cicada? Just sting it to death?
It doesn't actually kill it it just paralyzes it then it gets stuffed in a burrow the wasp digs and she lays an egg on it and it hatches and proceeds to eat it from the inside out
what part of Sudbury?
+Antique Van CamperMan The Desert Natural Area near Hop Brook.
...u don't even wanna know
The only Wasps I like.
In the criminal justice system, sexually based offenses are considered especially heinous
I would have to be stung by that!
Def on my bucket list!
My grandma used to have a cicada nest in the front yard, but eventually she set it on fire 😂
can't believe i'm rooting for a cicada
That’s sounds like a plane engine
Coyote Peterson anyone?
Yup
Lol me
Nope
I'm told they are originally in the deep south, but we've spotted them in Missouri. Guess they're migrating north.
They are found all over the USA.
I'm sorry but that wasp doesn't seem to bright.
A Bug's Life: Bounty Hunters
Cicada killers are my new favorite animals simply because they kill cicadas.
Cicadas are the rock doves of insects.
?
@@ChromatophoneNature I think he means because everything picks on them.
That's like a person picking up a cow and running down the street with it. Ugh. Vile thing.
Shut up vegan!
DAMN

lol
o no a cicada killer wasp nest ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Yes but luckily they are very non aggressive they don't want any trouble with us humans.
I’d rather die than be tung by that
Mating cicada killers: ruclips.net/video/0G5g_Bc36AU/видео.html
I know your just doing your job, but you take over my yard every July /August. And ganged up on my 82 pound pit bull & chased her ass off the grass!
🤣
We all have sinned and fell short of the glory to God. The problem is, that God is holy and doesn’t live with sin. So we all deserve to go to hell, but Jesus paid the price so you don’t have to. All you have to do is confess Jesus as your savior and repent (turn from ALL sin) and you can have eternal life!
Eventually Satan decided Yellow Jackets and Wasps weren't evil enough. So he talked God into creating these scary bastards.
She skull drug that cicada around. 💀
NOO
They're mating
Thats a cicada bug not another cicada killer.I think your blind
