SO sad that climate change is having such a horrific impact on such beautiful creatures and land... The artic fox is now suffering from encroachment by the red fox because of it. :(
they aren't gonna be out competed, the red fox is prime food for wolves and an easy kill, its at a disadvantage due to its larger size and lack of camouflage
Oh my god, that polar lights in the end....! A single session covered the whole artic beauty. It was funny when redfox met artic fox. Well in that one moment, 8:35 eye to eye ,what might be their conversation!
I worked in the arctic for years. The red fox are absolutely devastating the arctic fox population. When I started up there I seen hundreds of them. When I left two years ago I only seen a few a year but the reds were everywhere. It's not just the arctic fox that is having trouble. The geese are not able to defend their eggs from the much larger red fox. I have seen arctic fox fight for 15 minutes to get a goose egg and not be able to get it because momma goose can defend. Nature has evolved the two animals to be that way. Sometimes the fox wins, sometimes the goose. Not so with the red fox though. It's not the warmer climate that brings the reds to the arctic either, it's the roads. Nature has kept them out for how many years? Then they show up a few years after the road is put in and completely take over the place.
I'm sorry for the arctic foxes :( If what you write is true, roads seem to be their route towards extinction. Hope their population won't disappear completely though. On the other hand I want to say not all red foxes are like that, I'm a good red fox, not invading anyone's territory :D
Amazing, a red fox in the Arctic. Once again, gorgeous filming. Thank you so much for opening up the world for the rest of us who may never otherwise see the beauty of it.
