      Estimating the number of grains of sand on Earth is quite challenging due to the vastness and variety of sand grains worldwide. However, scientists estimate there are roughly 7.5 x 10^18 (7.5 quintillion) grains of sand on Earth. This number can vary depending on the size and definition of what constitutes a "grain" of sand.

    It’s a hard life in the Sahara for such cute little creatures. Mad respect for the fennecs of the Sahara

    • @DR3ADER1
      @DR3ADER1 9 месяцев назад

      This is on top of the political strife many countries in the Sahara face and the fact that Fennecs are constantly hunted for their pelts by the locals due to the lack of concrete protections in the area thanks to centuries of wars, droughts, famines and military dictatorships. And yet they're not at risk of going extinct in the wild (they're listed as "Least Concern" on the IUCN Red List for this reason). People tend to forget this when they see footage of Fennec Foxes and Sand Cats, despite their diminutive size and high-pitched screams, they are hyper-specialised, hyper-lethal vectors and predators who are more statistically successful as hunters than any Tiger, Wolf, Bear or large Wild Dog/Wild Cat.

    • @huldu
      @huldu Год назад +16

      They've probably been out there for millions of years in one form or another. That's how they've adapted. Also notice there are no humans out there which in itself is huge as the wildlife can survive like they've done for a very long time. It gets a lot more difficult for many species to survive with humans around unless of course they've evolved to live alongside us. Once we humans figure out a way to turn a desert into a thriving ecosystem, with skyscrapers and what not many of these creatures will probably go extinct.

They've lived in the Sahara, just as other wild animals before being hunted by people like you who breed them for profit and give nothing to the indigenous people who have lived alongside these wonderful creatures. We know the profits Westerns and Asians make on African wildlife and such. It is disgustingly deplorable! You steal them for how much? Then breed and sell them for how much?

      Actually, foxes are dogs, while cats are cats, cats and dogs are entirely different families and are not closely related, both are classified within the order Carnivora, but dogs are specifically part of the suborder Caniformia alongside the bears, pinnipeds, weasels, otters, raccoons, and skunks, while cats are part of the suborder Feliformia along with the hyenas, civets, mongooses, and malagasy carnivorans, the biggest difference between the suborders Caniformia (Dog-Like Carnivorans) and Feliformia (Cat-Like Carnivorans) is the auditory bullae, the auditory bullae seen in caniforms are single-chambered or partially divided composed of just one bone, while the auditory bullae seen in feliforms are double-chambered composed of two bones joined by a septum, foxes are more dissimilar to cats than ever thought, foxes have more in common with other dogs than they do with cats, in addition to dogs having more in common with bears than with cats, more surprisingly, hyenas actually have more in common with cats than they do with dogs.

    I am so glad that foxes are finally called wild dogs in nature documentaries. They have been calling tigers and lions wildcats for ages now, and if tigers and lions can be called wildcats, Foxes should also be called wild dogs by every definition. Foxes and domestic dogs are more closely related to one another than tigers are to housecats. Foxes and Domestic dogs belong to the same family and sub-family, while Tigers and housecats belong to the same family but not the same sub-family. So if all members of Felidae are called Cats so should all members of Canidae be called dogs.

    • @indyreno2933
      @indyreno2933 Год назад

      @Ruata Lungchuang, actually, you are incorrect about tigers and domestic cats not being in the same subfamily, they actually do belong to the same subfamily, all extant cat species belong to the subfamily Felinae, which is the only extant subfamily of cats, in fact, dogs (family Canidae) are the sole extant family of the superfamily Canoidea, much like cats (family Felidae) being the sole extant family of the superfamily Feloidea.

    • @blobbertmcblob4888
      @blobbertmcblob4888 Год назад

      What? First of all, no one calls members of the Panthera family "wild cats" they are big cats.
      2nd, foxes are not "dogs" they are canids, but not canines.

    • @indyreno2933
      @indyreno2933 Год назад +1

      @Blobbert Mcblob, actually, foxes are dogs, dogs and domestic dogs are not the same thing, a dog is any carnivoran that belongs to the family Canidae, therefore, wolves, jackals, and wild species with the word "dog" in their name are also dogs, just like cats and domestic cats are not the same thing either, a cat is any carnivoran that belongs to the family Felidae, therefore cheetahs, pumas, jaguarundis, leopards, lions, tigers, snow leopards, clouded leopards, jaguars, manuls, lynxes, servals, caracals, ocelots, margays, and many wild species with the word "cat" in their name are cats, also, foxes are canines, all living dog species are canines because Caninae is the only living subfamily of dogs, in fact, there are only three subfamilies of dogs: †Hesperocyoninae (Primitive Dogs), †Borophaginae (Bone-Crushing Dogs), and Caninae (Modern Dogs), similarly, there are only three subfamilies of cats: †Proailurinae (Primitive Cats), †Machairodontinae (Saber-Toothed Cats), and Felinae (Modern Cats).
