@@kishascape maybe, he said 1/3 cats are successful at 2:36. It 's possible they followed the 2/3 group of footage. We saw a cat with a small meal for the day and your left starving, anyone whose been hungry here gets grumpy too. Cat got some fucked up conditions in the winter where there is no cover and pitch silence in the snow makes it easy to hear any sound.

I love moments like 1:24 in nature documentaries, where I can see *exactly* the same behaviour from this hardened hunter animal as in my pet cat Leia.
That's because your pet cat Leia (beautiful name by the way) isn't genetically very different from wild cats. That's why they're such a danger to wild cat populations, because they are close enough that they can interbreed and create a bunch of hybrids.

@@eroero830 Yeah, they were definitely added in later. I don't get how people fail to understand that the sounds are not real for many animal documentaries. Think about it, how in the world would you get a mic near a wild cat? The sounds are either from a pallas in captivity or domestic cat sounds. There's no doubt though that the cat IS making some sounds, and they try their best to match it
What an incredible job by the camera team! I can't believe how clearly and smoothly they managed to capture this footage of both the cat and the rodents.

@@sunnyisson90 dont they have a really hard time surviving in low altitudes? Their lungs are made to survive somewhere 15000 feet upwards, the average level (in america at least) is around 2000 feet.
I hope you get to do it. I petted a Serval at Singapore Zoo once and it was cool as this little dude gave us a high jump as a demonstration of his ability. Just a tad disappointed his hair was rather rough, like dog hair of all things.

It could have been anything. The shots between the cat and the rodents could be taken days or weeks apart. The shots are edited together in post to make a narrative. The folly and background music are dead giveaways.

Wildlife cameramen's work is bloody hard as it is and to make such a brilliant short film is twice harder. Total respect for those who had to find this cat in the frozen fields and kept their asses frozen for many hours just to get this awesome footage. Oh, and the cat is adorable too, ofc.
