This video really does come across like a national geographic experience.
That and watching and learning from creative and talented builders of all kinds! :)
Well, I'm happy to watch this from RUclips. I've seen one of those monsters once in my life and that is enough. They are huge compared to de wasps found where I live.
IMO his minimalistic approach is what is most important when documenting these rare indigenous cultures as I feel like 1-2 guys a gopro type camera and mic is all that's needed to get content as to not be so invasive yet maintaining quality...
This was fascinating and very respectful. The lack of added drama really makes the story come through.
8:50 - Example of "lack of drama"...
"Lack of drama" not free from it. One good example in a 22 minute video. Sounds like great odds to me
From 0:22 onward, and even before that🤣, he keeps talking about how deadly they are, and dystopian, as some of the most dramatic music ever, fades in. It's all throughout this video, and it works as long as it flies under your awareness... Vut, this would be much less exciting without all the added drama. There are definitely documentary-ish moments between the martial music.
It's a comedy, too... he said the town was having a hornet problem, then they traced it back to their oen hornets... And when they taped his gloves on, "Wow that's tight, I barely can feel my hands!" For sure, there's extra dramedy added, for the viewing pleasure.

You're brave AF for doing this! Great storytelling as well.
I’m Mizo from Mizoram, a state in Northeast India and we have a lot of cultural similarities with the Hmong. These wasp larvae are a delicacy here as well and we simply boil them or deep fry them. They’re rich in protein and they’re really good when paired with white rice. These nests are still sold in local markets here in the city but the price has skyrocketed through the years since they’ve become quite rare to find.
Thankyou for bringing such interesting, informative and well detailed videos for us to watch!! I hope you visit this part of India very soon as well. Keep up the good work!
They might taste great, but that nest is nightmare fuel.
Same here in Nagaland. It has become unaffordable for middle income family like most Naga families. It's rich man's food now.
stupid question considering the general trend of india.
do you use suits like they did? or just...go at it like...well descriptions aren't necessary.
What do they taste like ?

Fascinating. The size of those buggers. Terms like a gush, crunch of eyes or hard shell & fingernail feeling doesn’t make me want to try.
Again a brilliant insight into the lives of these people.
I nearly tossed my cookies when he described the taste. I once had to deshell a lobster and it was like an alien autopsy and I was near throwing up again.

This was well done. This was just as good, if not better, than the videos on major networks. Will watch for more. Thank you for sharing this one.
How does this not have more views?! Wildly entertaining content!
It is at 1.4 million now
Raw doesn't sound appealing... boiled with salt is prob better... stir fry with salt, chilies would prob be actually wouldn't be bad... but deep-fried, salt, and MSG and then stir fried with some pork lard, chilies, diced onions, and garlic would likely be very good.
Don’t be a prude. So many people have been fearmongered into eating raw foods when we’ve eaten raw for most of our evolution. When you add all these thingssthat you mentioned, you make it less healthy and destroy the flavor and water-soluble micronutrients. Never eaten an oyster or carpaccio or something?

I wonder how they did this before the advent of this suit? To say it's dangerous would be the understatement of the century.
Probably invented the suits to try get rid of them, realised they could be cooked and eaten, then kept doing that
After deciding to farm they probably started with smokers and diy suits, upgraded to bee keeping suits after seeing the profit and then got these bad bois a couple of years down the road after making enough money to afford them
Before the suit, Kung fu was invented to defend against hornet attacks. 😂 LOL "preying mantis" style works best!
Fires and smokes is used.
What's the health benefits? It has a lot vitamins.
Me: You know they have multi vitamins in gummy form, right?
But you'd have to produce them and buy them. These are natural gummies 😂
You always read " full of protein" on these weird things. I guess they have not heard of other ways of getting protein
Bee pollen is supposed to be a super food but IDK about bees themselves
@@bxp1696 well it is a delicacy its not like they can eat it everyday.
Probably the taste, larvae have a complex taste, and I guess the more mature ones have the texture of a chip, like what you get in mcd. They could have eaten other larvae, but I guess they don't get that big
