We get cicada killers around my area… they are intimidating as hell but are extremely docile. So docile in fact, that most people believe they don’t have stingers. Glad I watched this before I go trying to catch one with my bare hands or something 😂
My neighbor had the females in his tree saw him and and my other neighbor spray the crap out of them with wasp spray!! And we happened to have the males under our sidewalk leading to our front door. But they hardly came out much. But yeah not gonna lie I was laughing watching them trying to spray them, but they did get all the females. They are big wasps!
You’re absolutely right. Male cicada killers don’t sting at all and females tend to stay away as long as you dont “attack” them. The “murder hornets” referred to in this video actually refer to asian giant hornets which are a species that look similar but are a lot more dangerous. I feel like this video could be a little misleading to the fact that cicada killers are dangerous, but in reality they are one of the most chill wasp species despite their size.
@@goboogi8282 Honestly, I use to be very scared of them, now after learning about how harmless they’re, I don’t worry about them. In fact, I see a female cicada killer wasp in my backyard whenever I mow the yard. It just flies by me and just flys away.
What area do ya live in?
Same lol
So glad you are putting this out there. You don’t know the amount of times I’ve had to try and convince people that they’re aren’t “Japanese hornets” in their yard.

Found those freaky things here in the city of Chicago! I was kinda freaked out at first. (I have a fear of wasps). I then learned these things are actually pretty docile and help control cicada populations. Yellow jacket and hornets are more likely to sting and their stings are more painful. People also constantly make calls saying that they're Japanese Giant hornets so it's great of you to get the word out!
