Found those freaky things here in the city of Chicago! I was kinda freaked out at first. (I have a fear of wasps). I then learned these things are actually pretty docile and help control cicada populations. Yellow jacket and hornets are more likely to sting and their stings are more painful. People also constantly make calls saying that they're Japanese Giant hornets so it's great of you to get the word out!

I just came across this in my yard today and like others, immediately thought it was a murder hornet. After researching different types of wasps I came to the realization that it was a cicada killer. Then came across this video, and while I don’t plan on getting near it any time soon, or ever, it does ease my mind to know that it’s not aggressive. She didn’t even want to sting and had to basically be forced to do so. Thank you for doing this for us, education means so much!

I just came across this in my yard today and like others, immediately thought it was a murder hornet. After researching different types of wasps I came to the realization that it was a cicada killer. Then came across this video, and while I don’t plan on getting near it any time soon, or ever, it does ease my mind to know that it’s not aggressive. She didn’t even want to sting and had to basically be forced to do so. Thank you for doing this for us, education means so much!

I want to mention how the Wasp straight-up refused to sting him whatsoever until she found no other way of escape. Surprisingly passive insect.
Morgan Black yea I think that the wasp didn’t want to sting the human but the only way to escape him was to sting him.
Probably injects less venom lacking such intent. It also looked like it used alot of venom while captured.
