They are very common at the lake I work at. It's a surreal feeling walking through a swarm of 50 of these things and coming out unscathed. It's an even more surreal feeling being able to stand in a swarm of them with a baseball bat trying to kill them and still come out unscathed.
And then it peaced out as fast as possible.

Found those freaky things here in the city of Chicago! I was kinda freaked out at first. (I have a fear of wasps). I then learned these things are actually pretty docile and help control cicada populations. Yellow jacket and hornets are more likely to sting and their stings are more painful. People also constantly make calls saying that they're Japanese Giant hornets so it's great of you to get the word out!

@@A.Ladinn01 Actually, the bullet ant was named “bullet ant” because the feeling resembles a bullet, however he got a STINGER not a literal thing of metal going through his arm, if it was an actual bullet he could be dead due to how close it was to his veins, or just bleeding out.

This is the one I've been waiting for you to do.. I grew up with Cicada killers in my backyard all my life. Every summer they will come out. When I was young I was terrified of the back yard but as I got older I learned to not mind them. I will mow the lawn and they will fly within inches of my face and never stung me not once. They minded their business as I did myne. I learned they were just scary looking gentle giants but I was always curious what a sting would feel like but I can never find any accounts online because its so rare to happen. Im happy that you were able to cover this. Thank you

Awesome! I live in Texas atm, and these are out. BIG time right now. I am so glad he did this video because now I dont have to run inside the house whenever one is in my backyard. They are HUGE and look scary, but he really had to work to get her to sting him. * totally relieved *

I just came across this in my yard today and like others, immediately thought it was a murder hornet. After researching different types of wasps I came to the realization that it was a cicada killer. Then came across this video, and while I don’t plan on getting near it any time soon, or ever, it does ease my mind to know that it’s not aggressive. She didn’t even want to sting and had to basically be forced to do so. Thank you for doing this for us, education means so much!

I had these things in my back yard and it is absolutely incredible watching them take out Cicadas which are almost the same size. It is surprisingly loud too.. I remember sitting there on a summer morning drinking coffee and I suddenly heard a loud screeching coming from my fence.. thought it was some type of animal.. I walked over and saw one of these attacking a Cicada. It was so loud. After a minute or 2 the Cicada stopped fighting and it just got drug away down into the killers barrow. It was cool as hell and scary at the same time. Im happy they are not hostile to ppl
