This phone was way ahead of its time! What happened to the HTC One line? I feel like it has gotten worse each year! Bring back the m7 design! Remove the screen bezel, make the screen larger, improve color accuracy, bring back the camera software features, sue Apple for copying Zoe with their Live Photos, keep the customization options built into the HTC Sense, consider using an OLED screen, keep and improve the "ultra pixels" camera, improve the front camera, build a 5 or 6" screen, keep the front speakers and improve them each year, keep Beats sponsorship... Who is in charge at HTC? The m7 could have overthrown Apple, but the m8 and the m9 have not improved in the ways they should have! This is so sad! The m9 design is just awful! It's way to rounded and bulgy looking, and the metal looks thinly wrapped around the internals -- not a great look! The m9 looks fat and overweight! The m7 was beautiful because it had hard lines defining the edges and soft curves between the edges. It was thin and sharp, but also delicate and soft; the forehead and chin were thin but noticeable and handsome, home to the innovative and famous front stereo speakers, and it looked great! What a sad way not to continue to innovate HTC! The One had so much potential.
The IR blaster is also built into the powerswitch on the m8 so cases will have a cut out at the top for use of it, the rest of the top of the m8 is antennaes.
Megapixels and Ultrapixels are totally 2 different things. Ultrapixel let in a lot more light that standard Megapixels. 4 Ultrapixels is really good. 4 Megapixels is god awful for this day of age for a phones rear facing camera.
Im sticking with my M7 too much increase in the size of the overall phone for hardly any more sreen size because of that big black bezel. One good camera would've been much better than the dual camera also. Like the new gestures to turn the screen on though hope that feature comes in the next update.
I think it's going to be a hardware thing because HTC said that the motion sensor on the back (the second camera) was responsible for all the gestures as well as the U Focus thing... Bad luck...
the One M8, obviously!! It might not be that much better than the M7, but its clearly still going to be one of the best phones coming out this year. i'm definitely getting it when my upgrade is due
I have to be honest imo the only thing that I didn't care for physically with the HTC One was the polycarbonate feel in the hand on the sides of the device and it seemed a little thick. I like the finish and the sides on the m8 but the bezel, and black bar are not my favorites..
tried the M8, went back to M7. M8 had data connection problems on Sprint, maybe a bad unit, not sure. M8 also no FM radio :(, and headphone jack on bottom is weird to me, tho i use bluetooth headphone now. But M7 size is perfect and 32G size ok for no SD card, and looks sexier, and cheaper too. Screen is gorgeous on M7 and is fast. I had EVO in 2010 so interesting to see HTC improvements.

I love my M7, but I believe her days are numbered. :'( It keeps freezing and restarting itself, and the cracked camera has forced me to take pictures almost exclusively from the selfie camera for the past 2 years. Anyone know how to fix the reboot problem? If there is no fix, what should be my next phone? I love HTC but I have a feeling the M8 and M9 are just M7 but uglier with performance a bit better, not worth it...
+AWC I too had a broken camera lens, but there is a really easy fix. I followed the guide here: www.ifixit.com/Guide/HTC+One+Camera+Lens+Replacement/17695 and bought a cheap lens off eBay. New lens has lasted 2 years with no problem. Unfortunately my camera has a different problem where it goes all pink in anything other than bright lighting. The HTC looks to be a good replacement though :)
unless you wanna enlarge your photo to buildboard size, 5 MP is more then enough...i have the M7 with 4 MP and i an more then happy with the photo`s it can make..

Now, yes, in 5 months, you're better off with the nexus 5. You're better off with it anyway actually. If you can't afford the M8, then the Nexus 5 is virtually identical to the M8 in terms of hardware (slight CPU difference), but in general, Nexus 5 would be the way to go. Newer than the M7 and definitely going to be supported longer, as it runs Android vanilla.
I got the HTC M7 and it is worth the money. You now be able to update the system software because HTC gives all M7 phones Sense 6 To. And when you got Sense 6 on it.. it even runs faster (it feels like it runs faster). So you will have a M7 with the same software as the M8. !

I am on a budget and want to get an HTC, is getting an used HTC m7 worth it when getting into the market trying to save money? I am coming from Iphone

HTC ONE M8 regular size is excellent. Great phone.
Everyone always gets it wrong it's not the whole top that is I.r blaster (m8) it's the actual power button thats the I.r blaster
