Eyyoo Gino. Normally I'm not one for backseat gaming but I feel that these few tips and tricks will come in handy during your Bow Only challenge. Rain of Arrows will become your best friend for dealing with Dragons, Erdtree Avatars [Varies] and Large/Slow moving enemies. I'd suggest putting this on the Horn Bow or the Longbow since Radahn's Great bow is better and due to the many arrows types Short and normal Bows get access too. Enchanted Shot... While it might seem underwhelming at first, is a very good ash of war for enemies that like to input read your attacks, dodging out of the way or enemies that love to jump around. Arrows fired from Enchanted Shot will track and hit their intended target more often than not. What's more it's the longest ranged Ash of War in the game. Jump Attacks. Either with a Short bow, Standard Bow or a Great bow, can be very useful especially against certain types of bosses you'll encounter. Its especially useful with Short bows and the Black Bow since you can attack twice, making it a very useful tool in certain fights. Moreover, jump attacks made with a Great bow speed up the draw animation making it a very effective tool in certain situations. Arrows best suited for Rain of Arrows : Bleed, Fire, Frost, Poison, Rot and Poise. *Standard Bows only* Arrows best suited for Barrage : Bleed, Poison and Rot. *Short or Black Bow Only* Talismans that you might find useful : Winged Sword Insignia, Kindred of Rots Exultation *Stacks with Mushroom Crown. Can also be activated by eating a Raw Dumpling. Stack with some Regen*, Lord of Bloods Exultation *Stacks with the White Mask*, Ritual Sword Talisman and All Scorpion Charms. *Magic, Fire, Lightning and Holy respectively* Please note : Bow Jumping attacks are not boosted by the Claw Talisman or the Raptor's Black Feathers. Status buildup is also more on Mighty Shot, and if arrow consumption is a concern, Mighty Shot is the most arrow efficient way of doing anything, both damage and status buildup. Thanks for the content, I'll watch the whole playthrough!
Oh btw as the samurai you start with enough arrows to kill the grafted scion without having to use the powershot thing to maximise each arrow's damage output.... you can just kite him around shooting him. there's also the roll-shot which works for even regular bows now in Elden Ring not just shortbows.
As someone who has used bows a lot since my first experience in dark souls in DS2 where bows and poison arrows could make some problematic fights a lot simpler, i love how bows work in elden ring. There's certain bows that work way better with certain types of arrow (it tells you on them which arrows match up with which bows for the bonus) and being able to swap ashes of war on most bows is great too. You totally can add barrage to other bows but the black bow has the best scaling for dex so i usually stuck with that and the composite bow (because it looks amazing and has joint best scaling with the red branch shortbow). Also farmed a fuck tonne of the stormhawks for those increased damage and 150% more stagger arrows... they're worth it and look amazing to shoot too.

So again, bows are rated at the bottom of the list of comparable strats, exactly where they should be. That doesn't mean they suck. It just means they're less good than the other stuff.

No it's not got the prestige or tight world crafting of dark souls 1, or the graphics and weapon arts of dark souls 3, but they did something special with their incredibly limited resources... The flaws make it memorable to me and the combat being much slower and more stamina management focused is something i really appreciated, compared to how they went the EXTREME opposite in dark souls 3 afterwards with infinite roll spamming invaders... Dark souls 2 every swing felt meaningful, and every stamina usage meant something. I really loved the world despite how so much of it didn't make sense (taking a lift UP from the peak of the mountain, and coming out from UNDER the lava castle??) but my god Majula is undisputed the best hub area in any of the games... the music and atmosphere and the sheer tranquility and joy you felt coming back to majula after a gruelling slog through a tough area... it was healing for the mind i swear. A chance to rest a weary body and spend some souls before venturing back into hell... you didn't want to leave Majula.. you wanted to stay there forever and pretend everything was fine with the world. Plus you could dress up that one lady in the witch gear that increased boob size xD

Just wanted to say that the reason the Bone Fire arrows seem to be terrible is because you are using the bone version vice the normal version you can buy from the merchants. It would the same as comparing bone arrows to Fire Arrows (bought). Also, I think the fetching might have a damage difference. If I'm not mistaken, when using bows, equipping arrows reach talisman affected my damage or at least what I remember, maybe because damage falloff is further? Also, light bows are good for moving around in a fight, but longbows and mighty shot are better at applying status since they do more damage and use less arrows. I believe you can apply status with rain of arrows as well
As long as a run is possible regionlocked It’s always better. It makes it way more interesting. Otherwise it’s just get build before you start playing and then every boss is the same. There’s no point in not just cheating in your stuff at that point
bow runs is really fun i think i made a samurai i used katana a spear bows crafted items and dragon magic it all went really well together the bow was pretty useful more than i expected and the item crafting was pretty fun for arrows and bombs dragon magic for huge hits or to rot ppl and so on was a fun play
In case you do a no hit run for the for the golem Bow there’s two bow golems by the elevator in valid that leads to the giant jar that gives you the great jar arsenal
I farmed 2.4 million runes and went around the map buying all kinds of different arrows and bolts (as many as I could hold in inventory and chest too) I had 609k runes left at the end of it.
I was going insane watching this. 60k runes that you could have been putting into arcane for a higher drop rate for the bow, bones, feathers, and status affliction.

Idk if this would inval the run or not. But the deer in siofra river are easy to farm for bones and pretty quick if you use throwing knives.
Also no enemies in the initial (d)eer area. And even if you use a bow, you’ll end up netting more arrows than you use.
