Funny thing about the movie is they say outright Buffalo Bill doesn't represent the trans community, yet some people to this day still associate trans people with him. You can't win with some people. But still an awesome movie.
I like that the characters have various degrees of morality. The "good" people can be creepy, or manipulative. Clarisse wasn't sent because of her merits, she was sent because she was vulnerable and well, beautiful in a way that would attract Hannibal. Jack Crawford didn't care about her future. The "bad" guy worries about common courtesy, and deems himself worldly and refined. He's a doctor, and yet he's insane. And all through this we see that law enforcement is largely a man's field. Clarice had to step way out of her comfort zone to assert that she is a colleague. Even then it was awkward. There's a lot going on in this movie.
That is an interesting take on this movie. I'll have to rent it again and watch it some time. So, you think they sent Clarice in because she was beautiful in a way that would attract Hannibal? Can you explain that?
I tell you one thing Dr. Hannibal Lecter sure does work fast when he swapped faces with that one police officer and crucified the other one on those jail cell bars.
I read the book before seeing the movie, so I thought I knew what to expect. Clarice Starling walked up to Hannibal Lechter's cell and I was shocked. Just standing there, he exudes menace, doesn't blink his "shark-dead" eyes, looks upon people are potential prey, and gets into Clarice Starling's head toot suite. It was unfortunate that actor Ted Levine didn't get AMPAS attention for "Jame Gumb" or the "Goodbye Horses" dance. Have YOU ever "had a friend for dinner"?;)
The dungeon commentary had me dead 🤣🤣 BUTTER Fun fact: I once won a "sexy voice" radio contest reciting the "lotion" dialogue... The lady of the jockeys said "I've never been more creeped out and turned on all at once in my LIFE"... The prize? (drum roll) tickets to a "singles" event viewing the movie "He's just not that into You".
Me too. I was only 12 but saw it in the theater anyway. So utterly confused at the time 😂. But I knew it was remarkable despite not knowing what was going on.
I really loved this review and commentary! You have such a great spin on everything, and your sense of humor is so sophisticated but down to earth! I am watching alot of my favorite movies/reviews on your channel now...I LOVED Dead Alive!
I saw this movie at too young of an age and didn't understand most of it. Then watching it later I understood what was going on but already knew what was going to happen.
Binge watching this guy. Ie watched hundreds of different movie reviewers but this guy actually is entertaining and makes me laugh! (I don't laugh hardly ever) so definitely subbing and watching all of these
Hands down my favorite movie. I’ve studied and written about it but each time I see it I see something new. Here I thought about how the music is crafted around some of Lector’s most powerful lines. 😊. I could ramble for a while so I’ll just thank you for the video. Never have I giggled so much when thinking about this movie. But, it was great!!
It always makes me happy to see on of your videos. They always make me laugh and I just straight up enjoy your content so much. Keep up the great work my dude! :D
I’ve literally never been this early before in my life! I love every vid on this channel and immediately click 👍 Edit: the “churning butter” scene. I saw this film as a small child and I thought the man in the cell threw pasta at her. So years later as a full in adult, like 30, I was watching this again with my mom and at that scene I mumbled “well I guess it’s pasta night.” My mom gives me a funny look and asks “what are you talking about.” I say “he just threw his pasta at her face.” Mom stares at me and just starts 😂😂😂 at me. She then says “honey that’s not pasta.” I ask for clarification and she pantomimes 🤜 🍆 💦. My family still laughs at me over this lol. My jaw was on the floor!
I'm not sure what he threw at her. I haven't seen this movie in about 20 years. Did he throw something at her that was really nuts, like part of his tongue?
Heads up. This movie and In the mouth of madness are free with ads on RUclips right now. (Lol guess they’re good for SOME things every now and then! 😇)
Why does nobody talk about how Miggs might be the most important character in the whole movie? If he never threw his nut onto Clarice, Hannibal would have never felt obligated to help her. She would have just walked right out of the jail and never spoke to him again if it wasn’t for Miggs.
the thing i dont like about this movie is actually hannibal. bill is more unsettling than hannibal and hannibal is borderline cartoonish with his long, unblinking stares. and i think his performance steals away from the real scare factor of his character. he was bill's therapist. hannibal used his identity issues to "plant" him, bill, as an escape tool later. the dudes head in the jar was a failed plant and hannibal finally finalized his plan later with bill. hannibal knew hed eventually get caught, hes crazy not stupid. so he twisted bill into a serial killer that hannibal could later use to negotiate his way into a situation where he could escape from a lower security facility than his dungeon. it was planned years in advance. THAT is hannibal's real genius.

@@brynne77 She's a lamb in the lions den. At least that's what everybody thought.
“Slay, girl!” 😂
I always liked the suit line, it’s just hilarious how he’s always at least 400 steps ahead of everyone else

IKR! And pull the body up into the elevator shaft
One might even call this, dare I say, a plot hole!

"It rubs the butter on it's skin, or else it gets the cum again".
Where SotL gets me is that Hopkins rarely blinks. He is always drilling a hole in you with his stare.
With a hint of him sizing you up to see what parts would make the best meals...
What does (SotL) mean?
@ᴊᴇꜰꜰᴏ Correct! More like Silence of the Lazy (to type), tho
That's was the best Buffalo Bill impersonation since Bubbles from TPB. Man keep up the good work I enjoy the smiles you produce.
Silence of the Lambs has been my favorite movie ever since it came out in theaters. I'm glad you still appreciate and love it as much as I do
Me too. I was only 12 but saw it in the theater anyway. So utterly confused at the time 😂. But I knew it was remarkable despite not knowing what was going on.
when buffalo bill puts his hands up and runs off, it makes me crack up every time 🤣
omg the edits of 3:17 "BUTTER" but she is "LACTOSE INTOLERANT" made me giggle
You smell like butter. 😂

LOOOOOVE THE "TASTEFUL RECREATION" OF THE DANCING SCENE. :) THANK YOU FOR THE GIGGLE.
You will tell me Clarice when those lambs stop screaming.
Have you reviewed Hannibal (2001)? I know you briefly mentioned it in the video but I would love to hear more of your thoughts on it too!
Due to your "butter" comment, I now think there's a secret meaning behind the product "I can't believe it's not butter". Lol.
Fantastic review, and the "tasteful re-creations"....chef's kiss!!! XD

She's not my curse not anymore not anymore. I know different movie but I can't help thinking about that whenever I see Sir Anthony Hopkins now.
Cheeseburger and beer time! Great video!
It's all about that lotion and a water hose.
It rubs the lotion on its skin, or else it gets the hose again!
Another 5 bee movie for the win! And another awesome review!
This is my favorite movie of all time!

I'd watch a remake with Vinnie as Buffalo Bill
a comment to encorage your behavior hope all is well thanks for the video duder.
Can we go back to the part where you called Jason sexy, Newbee? Not judging I just want to make sure I heard that right.
