The story is deep from an emotional level but its just another story of a girl in the brink of madness after loosing her entire family, finding a cult which fuels her mind with enough pain that she finally breaks, loosing her old self & being reborn by choosing to be a part of a murderous cult. You know, the usual becoming a psycho killer things, lol. The movie is hyped up for no reason. Hereditary was a way better movie. Right after the movie was released, the director said that he'll release a longer cut of the movie for home video where 30 mins of extra footage will be added, which according to the director, will make the movie a completely different movie & experience. Haven't watched it or don't know if it's released yet or not, so can't say. Can you review that version please? Thank you🙂
I loved hereditary but the wall crawling killed it for me. Everyone I was watching it with started laughing, broke the immersion for sure. But holy cow was it intense before that, and I was not expecting the stuff they did. They held nothing back.
It might be a controversial opinion, but I didn‘t like Hereditary at all. A lot of the „scary“ moments felt cheap and predictable and the whole story had a pretty intriguing mystery just to be disappointing in the end. Sure, it had a great atmosphere and some really good shots but a lot of it was still really unnecessary and stereotypical. In addition to that, around half of the movie could‘ve been cut out and it would‘ve been the exact same movie. Midsommar, on the other hand, works with tools and methods that are entirely new and despite being a fairly long movie keeps you hooked for the entirety of it. Unlike Hereditary, it also has a satisfying conclusion, despite being incredibly messed up, it’s a perfect ending for the type of story it portrays.
My mom and myself finally watched this after I caved and bought the DVD. We weren't expecting the erm... "tapestry". But other than that, we really liked this movie. (even though I knew about the ending since I watch movie reviews to find ones to watch.)

That thing about putting flowers under the pillow and feeding your crush pubic hair/menstrual blood is an actual thing that people believed in in Sweden. 5:11
I really liked this movie. Everyone interprets its characters, their motivations, and the themes differently, so much so that you are almost required to watch it again to pick up on something you missed which sometimes prompts you to modify your theories or even change them completely. For instance, did Dani's sister really kill her parents... or did Pele? Is Pele a true friend, or did he set them up? Was Pele's parents killed or was the fire truly an accident? Was Pele's motivation specifically to get Dani to come on the trip? Is Christian as awful as some people initially judge him to be after all it take two to make a relationship happen? Is it his fault that Dani was so overbearing? Did he act against his will at the ritual? Did being a "bad" boyfriend justify his punishment? Rating: 4.5

This film was originally given an NC-17 by the MPAA. According to Ari Aster, around 30 minutes was cut from the final film mainly due to content. The director's cut released shortly after its theatrical run restores this footage. Most of the Swedish dialogue spoken by the Hårga natives is deliberately not subtitled, in order to create the sense of isolation for the audience and especially for the foreign visitors. When the film was released in Sweden, rather than eliciting fear in the audience, many people laughed. Many Swedish critics praised the film as an excellent black comedy. Mark displays an extreme phobia of ticks, which is based on Ari Aster's real-life fear of bugs and illness. Like Mark, Aster wore two pairs of socks over his jeans to ensure he would not receive bug bites. Despite the Swedish setting, the film was mostly shot in Hungary. Dani's surname is Ardor (visible on the computer screen in several shots), Latin for "flame." Despite sharing the same title and being horror movies set in Sweden, this film and the Danish cult classic "Midsommer (2003)" are not related. Despite the film taking place entirely in sunlight, it does not contain one shot of the sun. The film's trailer contained one shot of the sun. A shot of the sun has been reinserted in the director's cut of the film. Ariana Grande is a fan of the film, calling it one of her favorite films of 2019. She tried (and failed) to buy the May Queen Gown used in the film at an auction. She also threw a Midsommar-themed birthday party for herself on her 27th birthday. Klaudia Csányi's debut. Despite being the main characters and with the exception of cries and screams, neither Dani nor Christian speak in the last twenty-five minutes. During the meal where meat pies are served, Christian has a glass of reddish juice while everyone else has yellow juice. An image earlier in the film suggests that this may be because his drink has been spiked with menstrual blood. The strange mating ritual in the movie has very little to do with actual midsummer celebration in Sweden. It is however a fact that the 9 out of the 10 most common birthday dates in Sweden are all during April. 9 months after midsummer and July, the most popular month for summer vacations, that is. This is the fifth A24 film to be released nationwide without a platform release prior. The others were The Witch (2016), Free Fire (2017), It Comes At Night (2017), and Hereditary (2018). Much to the chagrin of Swedish horror fans, the film was not released during midsummer in Sweden, but a few weeks afterwards.
You have a gift. Your humor and wit are incomparable. And your reviews still serve their purpose. I haven’t watched this yet, but now I have a feel for it enough to know I’d enjoy watching this. 👍
I never noticed that thing in the background omg. There is something that I would like to add, this movie is intentionally comedic. I am under the assumption that everything you laughed at slightly was meant to be funny. Christians face when the lady joins in and sings is incredibly funny, the old lady coming to help him out when he gets tired is funny, the fact that the child was watching the whole time is funny. One of my friends saw this movie and hated it because it was “unintentionally hilarious” but i believe it is meant to be funny and moreover the balance between comedy and tension is superb as I was on the edge of my seat the whole time even when it was a bit comedic. This movie is absolutely fantastic and a future horror classic despite barely being a horror. Deserved 4 bees for sure. Thank you for coming to my TedTalk.

Nice review of Midsommar. I assumed the that the movie is something like "A Midsummer Night's Dream" just from the title. Thumbs up for the review Bee Man.
"There are bugs on me!!" 😂😂😂 Omg that brought me back to my early twenties-I had a group of friends (drinking buddies, really), one of whom was terrified of any and all bugs. It got to a point where she'd scream and instead of coming running, whoever was nearby would holler "How many legs does it have?" and go to rid her of the unwanted visitor.
This movie is, oh my god, I watched it with my sister few weeks back, and this is such a purely crazy movie, I can't. LOVED THE REVIEW!! You're so funny, oh my word. (Happy new year as well)

Omg. This is definitely my favorite review now. Yes she totally looked like pizza the hut (or madam trash heap....mlllleeehhh) Do any of you think she would have used the Schwartz? ...
Here's my comment to help you be favored by the algorithm cause you're awesome and I need to get this out of my system anyway : I like to think that Midsommar resonates with Hereditary, Ari Aster's first movie. Hereditary has it's main protagonist becoming more and more disenfranchised and getting away from his family through great struggles and trauma, while Midsommar starts off with it's main character's trauma and builds off of that, trying to find peace and becoming whole again. Even stylistically, these movies echo one another. Hereditary is all darkness and shadows, while Midsommar is all white and bright. Hereditary got these miniature shots that end up boxing you in, while Midsommar is all green fields and bright blue sky, with no hard frontier. There is one thing I love Ari Aster for, and it's his ability to create a visceral, repulsive scene. In Hereditary, it's the car drive with the sister and then the following reaction from the mother. In Midsommar, it's right in the opening, with Dani's sister suicide and killings, and Dani's own reaction. Those two scenes were stuck in my head for days when I first watched those movies. It captured suffering with an intensity no other movie really did before for me. It felt real, especially in Hereditary, when the mother breaks down entirely. Ari Aster has a great future in the industry. A24 in 2019 really became my favorite prod house. Although, I'll say this, I love Aster, but he even got surpassed by Robert Eggers' The Lighthouse, which blew me away. Looking forward to those two's next works. Looking forward to A24 movies in general now. As for you, keep up the reviews, they're hilarious 🙏
I love going to another country and when meeting new people they shruggingly ask "American?", and I'm able to say with some satisfaction I may add, "Canadian!" :) Then everyone's happy...lol

I watched every ad that popped up during this b/c u deserve it for watching that 😭
Happy new year from Spain! Keep up the good work
Happy new year from Austria !
Nothing like starting a new year, on a Winter’s day, watching a reaction video about Summer...hope your 2020 is 🐝-utiful!
Man, I just found you today and you’re truly great!
Midsommar firande is actually quite wholesome and nice!

Nice review of Midsommar. I assumed the that the movie is something like "A Midsummer Night's Dream" just from the title. Thumbs up for the review Bee Man.
Pugh is "pew" like you said originally 😂😂
"There are bugs on me!!"
😂😂😂
Omg that brought me back to my early twenties-I had a group of friends (drinking buddies, really), one of whom was terrified of any and all bugs.

Do any of you think she would have used the Schwartz? ...
you are actually such a funny person. you make watching these horrifying movies fun and cheerful.
Here's my comment to help you be favored by the algorithm cause you're awesome and I need to get this out of my system anyway :
I like to think that Midsommar resonates with Hereditary, Ari Aster's first movie.
Love the movie also the review. Great job and happy New year to you and Queen bee!!
I love going to another country and when meeting new people they shruggingly ask "American?", and I'm able to say with some satisfaction I may add, "Canadian!" :) Then everyone's happy...lol
walmartskills I considered lying and saying I was Canadian when I have been abroad, but my accent is a dead give way lol
@@nashernash We all look alive just say sorry when you probably wouldn't even for simple things, and say eh every now and then and you're golden :P
