  • Today's video is part three of a 1940s Cauffiel Motor Old Engine Revival! This engine is an aluminum clone of a Clinton 700A engine except it was made by the same man who designed the 700A Lowell Cauffiel. he was only in his late teens when he designed both with his brother Ford, who was one of Ohio's most successful entrepreneurs. After seeing the success of the Clinton 700A for the Clinton machine company Lowell wanted to try and get into the market as well, making the Cauffiel motors. He ended up getting sued by Clinton for using the design he sold them and started making another engine called the clipper that was slightly changed to not match a 700A Clinton.
    hope yall enjoy!

My father was not in his teens when he designed this but was in his late twenties. He launched project after World War II where he served as an aeronautical engineer with aircraft manufacturers supplying the war effort. Ford Cauffiel was just a young teenager at the time. He did not design the engine, but contributed to developing a carburetor for another two cycle model.

Not a Clinton. It's a Cauffiel -- all aluminum. First of its kind in a four cycle utility.

@@lowellcauffielFXR makes sense why it's so shiny then! I'm pretty sure Caulffiel ended up becoming part of clinton
