Did the 2019 Nissan Murano change ENOUGH to make it the SUV to BUY?

  • The refreshed Nissan Murano is here! Under the hood is still the tried and true 3.5LV6, but the talk of the town is the revised exterior and interior. Did Nissan make enough changes to make this a hot SUV buy or is it time for a major overhaul of the Nissan Murano?

    LOL, "the valley of wood" on the armrest.
    I have owned three Muranos since 2016 and couldn't be happier. In the city, they are so smooth and quiet. I get up to 30 mpg and more on the highway, too. My wife drives a '16 AWD Platinum with every option and I drive an '18 base FWD S model without a single option. Both are great values, but the base model can be picked up for $25K-$27K and at Civic prices is just an outstanding value. I have CarPlay, dual zone auto A/C, auto headlights, etc. Great car for the city. Soaks up bumps and is extremely smooth for controlled traffic maneuvers.

    Most of the people who don't like the CVT, they never really use it in their car. I have a CVT with over 200,000 Km and it works fine. Accelerates without tearing and keeps engine speed as low as possible, so consumption is acceptable. Who wants to play with shifts, so try manual ...

    I've been watching your reviews for awhile now . Always enjoyed your channel ,subscribed last night after watching your review on the 19 Murano. I had a 2004 and loved it. Unfortunately someone hit me and I had to replace it. Drove a Honda Crosstour for 8 yrs. Today I bought a Platinum. Nice to be back in a Murano. Your review helped me make the decision. It's a much different vehicle than my 04 but there are a lot of similarities. Like you said it's a nice place to be. Thanks

    Nice objective review. I purchased a 2019 blue Murano Platinum trim. Did lots of research. Was set on the Murano since it was the best bang for the buck. Bought on clearance for a 20% discount which sweetened the deal. Since they are in less demand, you can really bargain. Added a 6 year 100,000 mile comprehensive warranty so I’m worry free. There’s no such thing as a cheap repair so I felt it was money well spent given the discount I got. I have owned two Nissan Sentras and a Nissan Altima and they were all good reliable cars. Absolutely love the Murano. Just a unique and stylish design. I think the wheels are the best looking out of any SUV. Seats and ride are very comfortable. You don’t buy the Murano for towing or off-roading. Is designed for street. Lower ground clearance than its competitors makes entry and exit easy, but you still enjoy the feel and safety of a bigger vehicle with sitting high but still great road manners. Quiet cabin. My wife is super picky and she loves this vehicle. Infiniti like experience for almost half the price. Plus there are not a lot of them out there so you stand out. Very happy so far.

    Some pretty harsh comments from the crowd here.
    I own a 2017.5 Platinum and I love it.
    There may not be the same engine performance as a Mazda, but if that’s what you’re going for, then buy a CX-9 and sacrifice all the comfort that this vehicle gives you.
    Overall, still the most plush and comfortable car I have driven, and make no mistake, this car can reach speeds in no time.
    I guess people want to really feel that torque as opposed to a smoother transmission, and that’s fine, but remember what you’re driving.
    I’ve test driven the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Hyundai Santa Fe, Kia Sportage, Ford Edge, and this beats them all, hands down.

      portuviejo I totally agree. I love my 2016 SL and my lease is up this year. I am seriously thinking about the 2019. I have driven a 1997 Pathfinder, 2001 Pathfinder, 2004 Pathfinder, 2007 Xterra (drove 13hrs to move to SC in 2008), 2013 Pathfinder and 2016 Murano. See a pattern? lol. I love the CVT transmission and my 2013 Pathfinder and 2016 Murano both had pep! and good gas mileage. The Murano seats are to die for! plush and comfortable for extended drives! I have had NO mechanical issues with any of my Nissans. I admit, a lot of recalls, but no mechanical issues. All I do is oil change and rotate tires. Love Nissan!

      Please squash my fears about the CVT transmission. I really love this vehicle and I'm leaning toward this one because I hate the start/stop function on all of the others. That's a total turnoff for me..Is it worth the money and do you ever fear problems from the transmission?

    • @Family__Guy_
      @Family__Guy_ 5 лет назад +2

      Gina Reynolds it makes for a more comfortable ride. For myself, I drive a family of four and it is perfect. Very smooth yet can reach speeds quickly, if you want.

All I care about is features and nice touches. I traded my 16 Toyota Highlander xle for this. We were paying lots of money for a blan interior, just to have a Toyota badge. And that’s what Toyota does, charge so much money for so little. I wish people would see that there’s so much out there for your money.

    Another great review. I'm comparing & contrasting the Murano and the Blazer. The exterior esthetics of the Blazer are bad ass. But I just love everything about the Murano. I don't have too much of an issue with the CVT. I do love the throaty sound of the Blazer when accelerating hard. Tough decision. Touches on the Murano like the Bose sound system, the zero gravity seats & the heated \ cooled ventilated seats at its price point I think seal the deal.

      I actually wound up in a SL technology package. It came down to was I willing to pay over $2k more for cooled seats and a power adjustable steering wheel, which is the only real difference between the SL/tech and Platinum. . I actually like the aluminum look in the interior trim more than the fake wood.. So SL it is, so far I like it. I got out of a 2017 Accord Touring V6, really good car, great engine. I miss a few things but I'll get over it.

    I have a 2020 platium awd and love it. CVT transmission is for a retired person who do not care about going fast out of a bend or turn. That's why I like a murano since 2003 the 3.5 engine is proven to be bullet proof. Nissan put this engine in most of it's vehicles for years! For me, it's not about how fast the car can go, no not at all, it's all about going from from point A to point B in comfort, and that's all what the cars was invented for.

  • @Sandra-sm5iq

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  5 лет назад

      What I mean is that is takes a while for the CVT to transmit the power to the front wheels when you get on throttle. It's not like a traditional automatic tat has gears and can just drop down a gear or two and get you going.

    Why do all of these review videos of the Murano on RUclips, seem to always review the "top line trim" platinum?
    I'm in Canada. I have a 2015 Murano SL (AWD). For us I think awd is standard on sv, Sl, and platinum trims? I don't think I've seen an sv and higher fwd. The SL has super value with almost all the features of the platinum....including the leather heated seats, panoramic roof, heated starring wheel, power liftgate, the Bose system... has it all except for a few things.

    I don't see these on the road much anymore. I like Nissan styling but over the years I question their reliability. Years ago I and my two co workers all bought our cars around the same time. I a Chevy Impala and both of them a Nissan Altimas. One had lots of trouble and got a Honda Accord the other had some issues as well but upgraded to the Maxima, and had issues with their Transmission. Both no longer own Nissan's and I still have my Impala and just bought a Camry. They seemed to be reliable in the 90s because I had family members that owned some and they were good. I think if they improved their Transmission they could be reliable again

      I personally had a 1997 Pathfinder, 2001 Pathfinder, 2004 Pathfinder, 2007 Xterra, 2011 Rogue, 2013 Pathfinder and 2016 Murano. None of my vehicles had mechanical problems, my 2013 had a lot of recalls, but no mechanical problems and that one and my Murano have CVT transmissions. I think it was the cars that had issues because my sister has a 2017 Altima and she had to have the transmission replaced at 13,000 miles. My personal experience is positive, so I will probably be sticking with Nissan. :)

    I've always liked the aggressive style on the exterior of the Murano. However, the interior of this leaves alot to be desired even with the refresh. I don't care for the center stack at all.

      Why? A Hyundai Santa Fe is slower and has unrefined materials. Maybe it hauls and has a more room than the Murano for stuff like camping so maybe that’s why but if it’s not that than there is no reason to take a Santa Fe over a Murano.

    • @m11sanmanable
      @m11sanmanable 5 лет назад

      @@iketanikoichiro3519
      The all new 2019 Sante Fe interior, especially on the ultimate trim definitely doesn't feel "unrefined". It actually feels very upscale, borderline luxury similar to the new Murano. Yes, there's also more cargo space on the Sante Fe which is another reason to why I'd choose the Hyundai. As far as the engine goes, yes Nissans V6 CVT is stronger as far HP goes, but the 2.0t on the Hyundai is which may be a tick slower 0-60 compared to Nissan, has plenty of pep for my needs. Lastly, the MSRP difference on Nissan's top Platinum trim compared Hyundai's ultimate trim is about a 5-6k difference.
      Both are very good, I just think Hyundai gives you more value for your money.

    • @iketanikoichiro3519
      @iketanikoichiro3519 5 лет назад +1

      Sorry I didn’t mean unrefined, I wanted to say average. But the sv trim of the Murano is probably as luxurious. Plus the infortainment is cheap, now it works good, maybe even better than the murano’s, and well, but I don’t like this new style. They cheapen out by like sticking a tablet on top of the dashboard. But all manufactures do that, but still it’s cheap to do that.
