I reviewed the Rogue Hybrid and the Rogue Sport and didn’t love either (although the Sport edged out the hybrid in my book). Glad you love your Murano!
Had a 2017.5 Rogue AWD, lease was up & got a 2020 Murano AWD for same $$. Overall the Murano feels like a heavier, longer wheelbase Rogue, but not as agile. Definitely needs the added oomph of the V6 to get it going off the line. The thicker A pillars & smaller back window cut visibilty some & the seats are the same, bottom cushions too short. But looks great & has a decent size gas tank.
I just sent the last payment for my 2019 Murano Platinum, and decided to come see a nice review of what I now fully own. At 65,000 miles, it still performs and looks like the first day. I love it.

I am a huge Nissan fan! I have a 2004 Nissan Marano and loved loved loved it! When I got my next car picked out the newly remodeled 2013 Nissan pathfinder. While I like the Pathfinder, it is not nearly as luxurious as the Murano. it also has some problems with the sunvisors and inside door handles not working properly. My next car is definitely going to be another new Murano! I think I will wait and get a 2020 later this year. Thank you for the awesome review!
As I'm scouting out for the perfect crossover for me I had three in mind. Murano is the one that keeps floating back to the top of my list. Nice objective review. I purchased a 2019 blue Murano Platinum trim. Did lots of research. Was set on the Murano since it was the best bang for the buck. Bought on clearance for a 20% discount which sweetened the deal. Since they are in less demand, you can really bargain. Added a 6 year 100,000 mile comprehensive warranty so I’m worry free. There’s no such thing as a cheap repair so I felt it was money well spent given the discount I got. I have owned two Nissan Sentras and a Nissan Altima and they were all good reliable cars. Absolutely love the Murano. Just a unique and stylish design. I think the wheels are the best looking out of any SUV. Seats and ride are very comfortable. You don’t buy the Murano for towing or off-roading. Is designed for street. Lower ground clearance than its competitors makes entry and exit easy, but you still enjoy the feel and safety of a bigger vehicle with sitting high but still great road manners. Quiet cabin. My wife is super picky and she loves this vehicle. Infiniti like experience for almost half the price. Plus there are not a lot of them out there so you stand out. Very happy so far.
Thank you for this review! I’ve been researching the Nissan Murano for quite some time and I haven’t come across an explanation for what a CVT engine is that made sense to me until now ..I appreciate this video 😬
I bought a 2018 SV with the Premium Package back in October. When I tell you I LOVE this car so much! Just like you, my dad had the original Murano, 2007. It was (still is cause we still have it) a beauty. Major differences between the two. My heart is still with the OG but I love my 18!
This is a nice car and definitely an upgrade from the 2004 model I once owned! Now I’m on a quest to find out from Nissan why there’s no electronic parking brake!
I just don't get it why people pay so much for this thing. Yes its looks nice but is a weird crossover/SUV. Its kind of in its own class but functionally lacks in many areas. I'll compare this to my new 2019 fully loaded BMW X3 xDrive (AWD). I paid 47K (7K dollar discount). Has a 250 HP bi turbo 2.0 that will achieve 0-60 in 6 seconds. Will hit 130 MPH (governor limited). has the BEST automatic on the planet ZF 8 speed. Yes it also has the electronic e brake too lol. The CVT is so weak on the Murano that is only can tow 1500 lbs. Not that one would but that's really bad for a 260 HP motor. Having such a low capacity is pretty telling that the CVT and Nissan does not want you do try it. The BMW has so much better visibility and allot more room in the back. Headroom is superior as well as back seat space. MPG is also less with the NIssan. I'm getting 23 in town and 30 Hwy. The VQ 3.5 is a good motor. But the CVT has to go at this price point. My X3 can tow over 3500 lbs. And its only a 2.0 bi turbo motor. Why you ask? It has a real transmission and not a big rubber band. Of all the premium brands Nissan is the only one that insists on using CVT in everything. At least some of their infinity models have the 7 speed. Even the pathfinder uses a CVT with a unibody. What a shame. But for this kind of bread the newely designed X3 is a much smarter buy. And for the most part its has bullet proof reliability now. The build quality on the BMW is insane. Materials are top of class. And its built in the US in South Carolina. They are one of the biggest exporters of cars in the US. The X3 literally destroys the aging murano in just about every category imaginable. I expect people buy it on looks alone which also comprise its functionality IMO. I did own a loaded 2010 LE murano briefly. That was the biggest mistake I ever made. A better more reliable option would be the toyota Lexus RX 350. That has a real 8 speed automatic. And its the best selling SSUV for good reason. Bullet proof toyota reliability and no rubber band transmission. A bit boring but if you don't want to worry about problems its a no brainer. I chose the BMW because I wanted both good performance and functionality. So far it's been very reliable.
@@user-3tf67bk46u Modern day Murano does not sell. 27K units last year. It will soon be discontinued. Next year will be a new gen. You should have waited for that before commenting. This gen has needed updating for a long time. Even today my 2019 X3 is the better car. More room, faster, best auto in the business (ZF 8 speed). Regardless I owned a murano LE. Actually inherited one but it was loaded LE. Hated that interior. Neither car or SUV. Its different for sure. But not in a good way. Not practical at all. I have a 2018, I think the tires are too narrow. Other than that, it's a great car. I get over 30 mpg on the highway. So, when the time comes to put on new tires, I'm replacing the 235 width tires for 255 width. They should look much better.
I feel like I pay pretty good attention to the wheels and can’t say I noticed that. What made you feel like they were too narrow? Was it the look or the ride?
I rented one of these last October and I absolutely loved it BUT.... I didn’t love it enough to trade in my 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited for one. It’s going to be really really difficult for me to find a car that I love enough to trade in my Hyundai Sonata for.
Really hard to compare a Sonata with a Murano. Maybe a Maxima would be a better comparison? I’m an SUV girl so that’s generally what I like but if you’re happy with what you have, that’s awesome!
The newer Muranos don't have the 3 transmission modes like the Rogue does. Essentially ECO starts you off in a lazier transmission ratio. Which, in a CVT, you can accomplish yourself by just giving lighter throttle.
My wife and I both have Muranos and we love the CVT, too. So smooth. If you want handling and acceleration instead of comfort and smoothness, I'm not sure an SUV is what you're shopping for.
Great video and a beautiful SUV but unfortunately the Murano is lacking in the Utility area. Like you said the load Floor is Really high which cuts into the cargo capacity. The Murano is like a foot longer than my 2016 CX-5 yet has 2 cubic feet less cargo capacity.
The Murano styling compromises utility ALLOT. The CVT is weak (can only tow 1500 lbs) And that's dismal considering the VQ 3.5 puts out 260 HP. Capacity in back is limited due to the slopping roof. visibility sucks ass. Power off the line is crap (CVT) And a premium brand approaching 50K should NEVER use a CVT full stop. BMW X3 is tons better with the bi turbo and ZF 8 speed. Lexus RX 350 also has 8 speed. The Murano is in its own class. Not a real SSUV or crossover. Its just a nice body first with Nissan cramming everything into it afterwards. I expect most people buy it on looks alone. Because the utility of it is worst in class. By far. The CVT alone at this MSRP is a complete showstopper for me. I ended up with a BMW X3 xdrive and love it to death. IMO, its the perfect SSUV. Very reliable too and excellent performance and MPG. Paid 47K and its LOADED. Got 7K off MSRP. I did own a loaded Murano 2010 LE and it was terrible. Visibility was crap. Leg room/head room shit.
@@Allthingsfadra Yes, reliability and the way it feels when being driven. Also, I hear that when needing repairs, it's much more expensive. Im old school, I like naturally aspirated engines and good old fashion transmissions. :)
I can definitely relate to you Peter with preferring a traditional automatic. My Maxima has a cvt though and (knock on wood) it’s still going strong at 110k miles.
@@HaywoodHomestead Cool. Good to hear!! And may it last (at least) another 110k mile. I guess when it all boils down to it, its a matter of preference! I had a '97 Altima and I never had any issues, although that had a conventional transmission. From what I hear, ever since 1999 when Renault merged with Nissan, the CVT transmission has been prevalent. I think this Murano is a very nice, luxurious CUV. But I am currently leaning toward a 2020 Highlander, which hopefully will have Apple car play along with a naturally aspirated engine (Im also cautious of Turbo engines) and an 8 speed transmission. I currently drive a 2013 Honda Accord EXL, V6.
I get the hesitation about reliability. When I owned a CVT, I had no issues whatsoever but I actually love the way it feels. But it is typically a love it or hate it thing.
I just purchased a remaining 2020 Murano S AWD. It doesn’t have leather and moonroof and some of the other goodies that the Platinum (and SL and SV) models have, but I added heated seats and auto dimming mirror w/Homelink to it and, considering I bought it for $13K off of MSRP, I’m very happy with it.
It is the king of 5 passenger SUVs faster and better looking than curb.and goes further on a tank of gas. Safer and more tech &luxury than crv. Almost same weight and length is Han the compact crv but much more HP!
I yhink the murano is the newnking of then 5 passenger suvs. Its the same weight and lwngth of the compact crv at 15ft long. Wow. Ehat an optical illusion itnlooks long a sleek imagine something the same weightnas a crv with 260hp! Its like a permanent sport mode thar goes further than thw crv on a tank of gas. Noto mwntion it's quicker to 60mph that the crv turbo. Mist rrviewers dont mention thw active grille shutters. How does rhe radar see 2 cars ahead? Those 20" wheems have tires that arw nearly 10" wide which wouldnecplain the great hadling.

It is a great car. People that have a Murano LOVE it and I always like the top trim level.
Excelent review!
Great video and a beautiful SUV but unfortunately the Murano is lacking in the Utility area. Like you said the load
Floor is Really high which cuts into the cargo capacity. The Murano is like a foot longer than my 2016 CX-5 yet has 2 cubic feet less cargo capacity.
I’m gonna have to double check those numbers. I’d be surprised because the Murano is wider than most.
Really nice ride, but that CVT concerns me. As always, great review!
Okay, I hear that a lot about CVT. Tell me what concerns you - reliability?
I like this blue and orange
Great video - thanks! I also like the new Lexus RX350, they kind of remind me of each other. Be sure to let us know what car you end up buying!
I saw a Lexus just the other day and thought the exact same thing!
@@JohnBaril Congrats! Those are great vehicles.
Is the nissan murano fuel efficiency
Fuel efficiency is relative. It depends on what you want! The Murano isn’t the best but does pretty well for that size vehicle.
@@Allthingsfadra okay I am looking for fuel efficiency suv
It is the king of 5 passenger SUVs faster and better looking than curb.and goes further on a tank of gas. Safer and more tech
&luxury than crv. Almost same weight and length is Han the compact crv but much more HP!
It is the king and queen actually
Thats a great shirt!
It’s a beautiful car!
Bought a pathfinder ❤️❤️❤️
Most most beutifull suv car
Nice car
I heard this car murano are not good
I have owned a Murano and loved it. My week in this car was fantastic. The only thing I’ve heard people don’t often like is the CVT but that’s subjective.
Picky,but valid points
The parking brake 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂!!!!
What about it?
Just odd the only thing is parking break she don’t like!
@@rickyterry4498 Going somewhere in a few minutes, I'll hafta look at mine. I didn't see anything in her video about it - have a minute/second time in the video where it is? Thanx!
It's foot-operated, left side, but strangely waaay up high, just a few inches below the dash. Also the tiniest pedal I ever saw, about 1" square 😂
Thank you very much for the beautiful explanation. You are very beautiful and beautiful
