- The most progressive police departments in the country are using GST to keep their officers safe. Listen to what these three DTAC instructors have to say about their experience with GST.

Love to see departments take up the gentle art.
This seems like a great program
The last guys comments on being calmer due to the skill set that they have now acquired. This is key...if you are clamer under stress you make better decisions.
The calmest person in a situation is usually the most capable person.
Gracie BJJ saving lives! God bless you!
I love it! I wish every law enforcement agency had to train with you guys! GRACIE JIUJITSU FOR THE WIN!
Officers in shape too. Nice for the country
I learn so much just by replaying clips from these videos even with no partner/gym. I see how it's done and make a mental note.
yes but i would recommend actually going to bjj classes in your area. big difference between just watching and actually drilling it on the mats and getting it locked into your muscle memory.
@@SKgyebaek
I wish. Back in college, I took boxing and judo. Most fun I've had was being on the mat and just sparring. Now, it's tough with 10-11 hour shifts. Even on my day off I'm pretty drained. I watch these videos, see choke holds in movies and I always jot it down in my brain. I try them on my dad sometimes and it works lol. Just no fun cause he's old.
And you are exactly the type they are looking for to take lots of your money and convince you that you are learning skills that will make you able to overcome guys twice your size etc. You think you are actually learning viable skills while watching clips on RUclips? lololol, thanks, that made my day with the huge belly laugh!
@@bigcconservativeguy2534
I think the only thing to laugh about is your reading comprehension skills. That, or you didn't bother reading my reply to the other guy. I've been on the mat, I've sparred with guys twice my size and I've won. Comes down to experience. And no, I've never actually paid for training. It's sad that you think you can't learn from watching videos. Most guys in the street don't know how to fight. That's where basic BJJ comes in.
Police as well as us ppl would be so much safer & better off if this class was a must with every Officer!
Damon is such a great instructor! Loved his GST class
This is the way. All US police departments need to do this immediately.
I took it in 2018. It should be mandatory training for every uniform.
@gst I'm a 18 year New York State correctional officer who at the age of 45 just started down my BJJ journey and this program is ABSOLUTELY something I wish NYS. DOCCS would implement. We work in confined spaces all the time we get a bullshit 2-4 hour class room only power point refresher training every year on use of force techniques. Why our union doesn't fight for better smarter training that we as a union could pay for to help us behind these walls is beyond me and why New York State doesn't encourage and make this our training while at the academy right through our entire career is also baffling. BJJ would help so much for our safety as well as the inmate population . How would I go about trying to get this program into our training it's benefits will far out way it's cost to the state
Very useful training that should be mandatory for police officers.
All law enforcement needs this training, it will save lives. Not deadly. This is the way to go. It will protect officers and those they apprehend.
Gracie Jiu Jitsu for life!!
This is the way.
The fuck is with you guys and that saying from the mandalorian.
I would love to learn this as a civilian if possible I am already taking the Gracie combatives class
🇺🇸 government should invest in this. Def a life saver for the public
The powers that be dont want peaceful constraints. That would mean less chaos & more peace. Untouchable popular leaders need to implement Great strategies with BJJ as one of many requirements. I see jiu jitsu being suppressed at many departments. Many are still at that kill or be killed mindset etc etc. The top 7 worst cities should all get pressured right now to train BJJ. Problem is politicians are possibly using the abuse to win votes
What about security officers? I see nothing on your website for us but we deal with the exact same thing law enforcement does but nobody cares about us.
Awesome 👍🏾 but sad that a civilian martial arts program is more viable and efficient than the local and state level training
It's not viable at all! tis is an infomercial selling training to civilians nothing more! 100% nonsensical BS!
@@bigcconservativeguy2534 Hey Brother... just out of curiosity, what is your LEO, SP, CQC or martial arts background?
Officers are civilians.
❤🙏
This program police bjj techniques self defense usa police bjj training

Hey Gracies, is there a reason why GST is taught in nogi?
Because you don't have a gi in the street
Agreed 💯 however the inclusion of the BDU Cargo tactical uniform and rig would definitely make more sense
@@NewWorldMMA1 they do generally train with a belt set up (including a fake firearm), however remember even though the officers may be wearing BDU's the suspects probably aren't, and they're training to fight a suspect not another officer. The benefit of no-gi is that it's practical wether the suspect is naked or wearing a winter coat because it doesn't incorporate the use fabric like in gi training. Later on it might be a good idea to incorporate the gi or other articles of clothing to give more options, however a rashguard is just the most well rounded uniform for the limited training they get.
I was formerly in law enforcement... I realize your point.. however, I was referring to the LEO's ability to maneuver properly in a live resistance scenario...I don't know if youve ever tried to grapple in full rig....not easy
How is this not required training in every department in the country
Because it is expensive and in order to teach everyone, agencies will need more money which means higher taxes. There is a cost to everything
@@darylt3466 Rener has a video explaining how it can be financed. American police departments are some of the most well funded institutions in the worlds it’s like 51% of the LA city budget. I’m not buying the “it’s too expensive to provide our police officers vital hand to hand combat skills”. If there’s enough money for riot gear and military vehicles I’m sure they can afford BJJ lessons
@@lobsterairsoft499 A lot of that riot gear and military vehicles you talk about are free and only cost the agency upkeep. All that other miney you talk about goes to uniforms, regular police vehicles, fuel, salary, etc. As for the class, agencies can host a class but you still pay around $1000 per student. None of these classes are free for any agency. The best they can hope for are a few free slots when so many sign up
@@darylt3466 and how many millions of dollars would it save the tax payer to have properly trained officers on the street. The US is the most most wealthy country on earth and trying to claim that you don’t have the money to properly train your police officers is laughable. Those vehicles aren’t free. Those guns aren’t free. Those millions dollar settlements that result when a poorly trained officer uses excessive force isn’t free. Stop looking for reasons why we can’t afford BJJ and start looking for reasons why we can’t afford NOT to train cops with BJJ
@@sinaparsi6736 you clearly haven’t watched any of Reners videos explaining in detail how all of this will be implemented, why it needs to be BJJ, and how it can be funded as long as people like you stay out of the discourse. Go watch more of the videos on this channel it should help with your education. Peace
I seen one vedio of a Police officer jumping off the ROFF of the car elbow first .GRACIE jujitsu THE GREATEST
I am all for officer safety. But there are a number of videos of officers abusing people for no reason so they can go hands-on. One video seemed to show deputies choke a mentally ill male to death just so they cant use the WRAP restraint on him. They wanted a reason to train on a person in the field. There needs to be accountability for how & who they use force on. Is there a list of what agencies are using your system or training?
The first video was of the cop who was caught planted drugs on people and in that video he was bragging to other officers how he beat up the older man while the old man needed medical assistance its all on video
Have you guys seen the videos posted by DUST (detroit urban survival training) this guy thinks he's John wick
Fuckin mint 😀😀
Great for cops and honestly they can use these tools instead of guns in more situations. I mean use a gun if you have to but better to subdue a suspect alive.
under stress YOU WILL DEFAULT to your LOWEST profesent level. TRAIN under STRESS
holy shit what if bad cops get a hold of bjj?
They currently carry guns, what’s your question again?
Choking someone to death takes probably 45 sec to a min usually unless something else is already going on. It’s more cut and dry to call that excessive use of force when it goes on trial vs pulling gun out and shoot someone is instant lethal use of force which a cop can say he feared for his life. Harder to hold cop accountable.
When the available tools are given to the officers (eg BJJ submission techniques), officers do not have the usual reasoning of I fear for my life and pull the trigger (especially the other suspect is not armed and there’s multiple officers there). Then with body cam, they can’t choke someone forever either with worst case scenario. Once someone pass out, they can hand cuff … then the person wakes up … person is no longer a threat because of the hand cuff so any other use of force can be determined as aggression (more likely cut and dry to determine). Also, BJJ might break someone’s limb but at least not lethal enough someone loose a life without a trial.
Just because you can make it work in a training class does not mean you can make it work in the street.
Ok Keyboard Warrior
Considering there are videos all over RUclips of it actually working in the real world....
True, but it gets you a step closer.
FTP ACAB I'd be careful you're not training the next killer of civilians
OK tough guy!!!! You gotta love the internet warriors
Yeah they need to watch out for that, only train good cops, not the ones that will make a wrongfull arrest or the next one that will do what happened to George Floyd.
@@atrainbrady3208 Don't be a POS like Floyd and you won't have to worry
@@darylt3466 I'm not the kind of person to commit a crime but cops need to know when and when not to use excessive force meaning that if they are being attacked or stopping a suspect from attacking someone.
@@atrainbrady3208 99.9% of officers know and understand this. You will never weed out all the bad ones but it's ridiculous to judge all by what a very few do, but that is what most people do, especially the media
im gonna teach criminals robberguard
What I see is it encourages law enforcement to get physical from the get go before asking questions D-escalating
When was the last time you saw a competently trained police officer escalate to violence before de-escalation exactly? Anyone who trains combat regularly knows that getting into a fight means you have already lost.
1:15 congrats dude you took down a girl…..dont let it go to your head
spoken like a guy whose never trained or ever been choked out by a girl....
