It's great that you watched the original before the remake. The remake did get a bad rap; but mostly because people were so fond of the original that it set the bar too high. But IMO the remake was a fine movie in it of itself.
This was a good movie and a decent remake. I love classic films so I still prefer the original one, but it's still a good movie. The Magnificent Seven was inspired by Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai (1954). It's a classic samurai film and if you enjoyed The Magnificent Seven then you should check it out. You can compare them and see which is your favourite. Also if you like western then I recommend some of John Wayne's films. The Searchers (1956) and True Grit (1969) are pretty good.
I like both versions of The Magnificent Seven. The 1960 version was a slow burn before the action really started, but we got more character development with the seven main characters. The 2016 version is more action packed, but at a cost of character development among the seven main characters. The Magnificent Seven is an American remake of the 1955 Akira Kurosawa film The Seven Samurai. I highly recommend watching that movie as well. It’s in Japanese with English subtitles. The basic story of The Seven Samurai has been reused numerous times over the years. The most well known examples are, of course, the Magnificent Seven movies. There’s also a Chinese film called The Seven Swordsmen. And for American films there’s also The Mystery Men, which changes samurai or cowboys with superheroes. And then there’s Battle Beyond The Stars, which is The Magnificent Seven in space. Star Wars: The Clone Wars also did their own version of the story in Season Two, Episode 17, entitled Bounty Hunters. I would definitely like to see Devin G react to The Mystery Men and Battle Beyond The Stars. I think that he would enjoy them.
My man Devin G has seen every single Denzel movie pretty much EXCEPT for his best one (American Gangster) 😂 DAMN! hope you react to it soon. Guess youre saving the best for last
I was adamant that the original could not be made better. I was proven wrong twice. One movie that got better each time. Love your reaction. Peace out.
"Red Harvest"?.Hmm. Red Harvest was a novel by Dashiel Hammet and has been cited by some as the inspiration for Kurosawa's Yojimbo. As We all all know, The original Magnificent Seven was based on another of his movies. So was this a subtle nod to the master. or just pure coincidence?
I love the original one so when I heard they were making a remake of the movie I was kind of that first hopefully they don't mess it up but I love them both the same now
if only they anticipated the big cheese hanging back one or two perfectly positioned men could have ended all this while the aggro was down range smh...that gatling gun was the game changer but could have been neutralized from behind but i guess that would have not been as dramatic 😅
@Devin the original is far superior but it is older so some people get turned off by subtitles. This was better then I thought. Was a treat to see you enjoy it.
Been waiting for DG to cover this western remake. Guarantee that he'll love it. Made my day that a new DG reaction just dropped. I always hit that bell and share. Even if making a comment helps with the algorithm. P.s If see this DG, Love to you and your family. Keep on the grind brother. God bless you all. 1:13
Because i love westerns and modern ones usually suck so bad that it hurts. But this was pretty good, true to the original wich didn't have tons of dialogue and character development either (some not a ton)
Hey Devin, I really enjoy your reactions and I like that they are longer now as well. If you haven't seen Jojo Rabbit, Only The Brave, or 12 Strong, you gotta check them out. I really believe you will love those movies.
You should watch The Good The Bad The Weird! It’s a Korean western inspired by The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, and the knife dude from this movie plays the Bad in that movie. It’s amazing how good a Korean made western can be. And the soundtrack is incredible too!
I like this movie, I'm glad you watched this one and i plan on buying this movie. I forgot about it. Like the others said, I got to watch Seven Samurai now.
This movie actually makes me a bit sad because we finally got Denzel Washington in a western and he isn't portraying Bass Reeves. Reeves was the first black deputy U.S. Marshal west of the Mississippi who apprehended over 3,000 fugitives, with a reputation so good that fugitives started turning themselves in if they heard Reeves was after them because it would be pointless to keep running. Now go look Bass Reeves up and tell me that Denzel Washington isn't a time traveler.
Food for thought my friend; the real gun slingers, in the 1800s, like Wild Bill Hickock, Doc Holiday, Calamity Jane, Bell Star, Wyatt Eurp, Butch Cassidy, Jessee & Frank James, Billy the Kid, & many others This was just a prelude to thier craft!
As a kid in the 1960s I grew up with the old version and it eas one of my favorites. Then I saw this version just a short time ago and thought it was the better movie. Alot grittier, and I really liked the twist that Chisolm already knew the bad guy, and would've done the job anyway for his own revenge. Based off the Seven Samurai, which is one of the most influential movies of all time.
yo this was the 1st Magnificent 7 movie i watched and i loved it ik some people like it more and some people lit less than the originals but i think this movie is fun also thanks for being awesome Devin you the best
OG here, as I was born the same year the first movie came out. It was great, and who doesn't love that original cast, Bronson, Yul Brynner, and the king of cool Steve McQueen. That being said, I love the remake. Denzel, Chris Pratt, and Ethan Hawke for Star power. I also prefer this side cast more with Billy, the Indian , the Texican, and the Mt. man, played by Vincent D'Onofrio. A fantastic remake from the story line, music, stunts and cast.
It's a tough choice for me between the two. I like the 1960 version for the nostalgia of the cast. But, I like the second one for diversion of the characters. The both were badass though!!! Liked your reactions for both.
Great film Even though people think the old film is considered to have set the bar too high for a remake. But it’s def a great Film Western that can stand with open range and Tombstone.
Steve McQueen & Yul Brenner were the 2 top gunmen in the Original. THEN there was Charles Bronson, James Colburn & Robert Vaughn. The top 5!!! The top badman was ELI WALLACH!
My final ratings of each version are as follows: 1. The Seven Samurai (1954) - 10/10 2. The Magnificent Seven (1960) - 6/10 3. The Magnificent Seven (2016) - 7/10
This one was good, but I prefer the 1960 version. I felt it had a little more depth, a little more complexity. The gunfighters talking about their regrets, the villagers turning on the gunfighters out of fear.
Actually at the time black cowboys were not uncommon at all. Some that fought in the Civil War were known as Buffalo soldiers. And believe it or not it was actually also not uncommon for them to be peace officers and bounty hunters.
The remake was good because Denzel is so good. However, the original is far better. Charles Bronson's character was not reprised in the remake. And Yul Brenner was just too cool and even Denzel could not pull off his swag. Plus every one of the 7 was a mega star at the time.
I would love if you could react to *Ayla, a daughter of war* its a movie based on real events and its during the Korean War. Its about a Turkish soldier who wants to adopt an orphan girl. I am not a very emotional person, but this movie made me bal my eyes out.
Since you were impressed by him stabbing him and twisting the knife I just wanted to bring up a point. Did you know that it is illegal International to use a knife blade that has for serrated edges because it is considered too brutal and it is a Geneva Convention crime to use one because you can't sew the wound up
It's not that hard for farmers to pick up guns and start fighting. Especially in this country. It's what our ancestors did. It's why we all speak how we do and why we have the freedoms we do :). If not we would all sound British lol
I've never seen a movie with Denzel that I didn't like. He's cold as hell and this movie's dope. Great reaction as always bro, you keep me laughing. That "I'd shoot his dick off" comment had me rolling but the editing needs some work, too much back and forth, hard to focus. Still love the channel tho dawg
The original is better, Eli Wallach set a high bar as the Bad Guy. He had never ridden a horse before this movie. He lied to the producers, telling them he knew how to ride a horse He was known as an actor on Broadway
The problem with most "remakes" is that there is almost never a good reason for a remake. . .Only reason is to "piggy-back" off an original classic to make money. I don't respect that. Come up with something of your own if you're SO talented.
You watched the original Mag. 7 and the remake but you didn't go to the source film first?! SHAME! You now MUST WATCH Akira Kurosawa's Masterpiece, and best of the bunch, "The Seven Samurai".
Loved this Movie very well done.. a few things could've made it different goodnight could've just came up behind the wagon with the Gatling gun and just snipe em out, teddy's bitch ass could've saved BIG Man. But tbh Chris Pratts Last Ride and sacrifice was a Bad Add part also
Man I really enjoy your reactions but on this one you switch screens between the movie and you SO SO FAST. I could not keep up , pay attention or even tell what was going on. Anyway great movie hope you enjoyed it🙂.
@@deving9793 Thank you 🙂.Yeah I know this one was way different. I've always really enjoy your reactions. Hope you get in straighten out. Have a fantastic week👍.
It's great that you watched the original before the remake. The remake did get a bad rap; but mostly because people were so fond of the original that it set the bar too high. But IMO the remake was a fine movie in it of itself.
I imagine in time it will get a bit more respect. I'm all but certain there were folks who shunned the original simply because of Seven Samurai.
The remake was great in my opinion. Better than the original
Wtf, Seven Samurai was the original. It even says so in the title cards, giving credit to Toho.
The big mountain man, was Private Pyle in full metal jacket.
He's also in law and order criminal intent also in marvel as the big boss
What's good about this movie is that, we got two actors reunited since Training Day. Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke.
LOL "we got us a indian" im first nations and that reaction made me laugh good! as usual love this reaction you always coming in hard.
Another great western movie that I think you would enjoy is Silverado. It's a great cast and a great story line too.
"That Bear was wearing Man clothes" hahahahahaha
My man Devin G has seen every single Denzel movie pretty much EXCEPT for his best one (American Gangster) 😂 DAMN! hope you react to it soon. Guess youre saving the best for last
Virtuosity is another Denzel movie with Russel Crowe.
Yer Devin you got to watch American gangster a true story
I was adamant that the original could not be made better. I was proven wrong twice. One movie that got better each time. Love your reaction. Peace out.
Farts
20:12 "...got the Benz on dubs. When I roll 20 deep, it's 20 knives in the club"
Yes! Ethan Hawke's character was Robert Vaughn's character in the Original. Severe PTSD!!!
This here is also a Training Day reunion for Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, and director Antoine Fuqua.
"I'm looking at a line of dead men." Loved that!! Good job, Devin.
I like the remake a little better. Better action, more modern filming equipment makes the experience a little bit better to me.
same here, especially that heroic soundtrack.. love it
I agree I love ❤this reboot way better than the original
What a fantastic reaction! i love it when reactors get as excited as I do about movies. Instant subscribe!
So happy you have gone back to longer reactions!
Re-subbed! (I couldn't take your shorts).
It appears Red Harvest took Hornes body for a Comanche funeral. Which is a pretty high honor for someone with Hornes past.

I appreciate my friend
I love the original one so when I heard they were making a remake of the movie I was kind of that first hopefully they don't mess it up but I love them both the same now
20:00 In this scene, notice how sure of himself Jack Horne is? Never once pointed his weapon
if only they anticipated the big cheese hanging back one or two perfectly positioned men could have ended all this while the aggro was down range smh...that gatling gun was the game changer but could have been neutralized from behind but i guess that would have not been as dramatic 😅

Super underrated western film, people tend to hate on it just because it’s a remake, but it’s really good.
Because i love westerns and modern ones usually suck so bad that it hurts. But this was pretty good, true to the original wich didn't have tons of dialogue and character development either (some not a ton)
@@tobe1207 I feel like people just over-criticize modern westerns most of the time. Some ain’t that “good” but a lot of em are just over hated.

I love this Movie❤❤
I haven't seen the original Magnificent Seven, yet, but I have seen the movie that inspired it. If you haven't seen it, it's called Seven Samurai.
Check out the original original Seven Samurai. It's a classic in its own right
Daaam Devin how long u had a neck tattoo u braver than a m... i can't say that but ik that thang must have hurt like h3ll mad props G🍻👌
YES! Love this Movie❤❤❤ Billy Rocks❤
I really liked the dialog in the last one, too bad they didn't include much of it, but there was more action!
Devin it’s not the devils breathe there referring to the mini gun it’s called the DEVILS GRIP that’s what they called the old hand operated mini guns
This one was good, but I prefer the 1960 version. I felt it had a little more depth, a little more complexity. The gunfighters talking about their regrets, the villagers turning on the gunfighters out of fear.
Reminds me of the quick and the dead.
I recommend a movie a while back, but imma give you another Extraction" and part 2 both great movies.
COMMANCHE VS APACHE!! MORTAL ENEMIES!!
Up until seeing this movie, the original True Grit was my all time favorite western. The Magnificent Seven topped it.
He said God would provide. God did provide with the 7.
I don't usually like remakes. This one is better. Also, I like the remake of True Grit better.
The original is better, but they did a good job with this one
License to drive is a great film grab some snacks sit back and enjoy the ride 🎉**
if you ever have the chance rabbit and venison (deer) are actually really good

Perhaps Denziel's character, as in the Original, he is there to make amends for his past!! To right the wrongs!!!
