shooter is in my top 5 of all time... i freakin love this movie
I’ve seen this movie numerous times since it’s release. It’s impossible to convince me that our government doesn’t pull stunts like this on a daily basis. The difference is, there are no Bob Lee Swaggers to deal with them

I forgot how good Danny Glover is at playing a villain. This movie reminded me.
This, Law Abiding Citizen and Fracture are three movies that I'd watch every time they come on when I had Directv.
I was buying them on Blu-ray and HD DVD. Lol
Danny Glover is a villain. The fact he can play one convincingly is hardly a surprise.

The actor playing the OLD GUNSMITH in Tennessee is Levon Helm the lead singer and drummer with the group "The Band" from years earlier.
He's got a great voice. Loved him in The Right Stuff.
Such a satisfying ending, and entertaining the whole way through. That Senator was such a thinly veiled caricature of Dick Cheney I was amazed this movie was even allowed to be released at the time
Couldn't do anything even if they called the character dick Cheney, the first amendment is a wonderful thing.
Directed by Antoine Fuqua, same director as Training Day. You also need to watch if you haven't "Olympus has Fallen", also directed by Fuqua.
"Shooter" sure is in my top 10 action movies!

Man, I love this movie, I honestly feel it’s very underrated. I probably watch this at least once a year. Mark Wahlberg is so badass in this and he’s also underrated.

Watched this in the theatre and enjoyed it thoroughly so I had to get the DVD. Kate Mara is such a cutie in this.

Another Wahlberg movie underrated/underreacted to is The Italian Job, a remake with Ed Norton and Donald Sutherland, and I think better than this one.
Easily one of my favorite Walberg movies. You'll want to give Two Guns a watching too.

Underrated film for sure one of my all time fav wahlburg films.
The original Blu-ray had extras, it showed him training at sniper school with the marines. They attempted to appear authentic

There was a live action TV series based on the movie which was cancelled after 3 seasons due to controversy surrounding snipers killing people in real life.

(5:50) This was the moment I called that it was a set-up! His weapon is un-snapped. They have you right near the scene, easily taken, and he can draw with an firearm that's ready to go. Everything set up in that room felt off, and I feel like the Mark Whalberg character had to feel it, he's too damn smart for that.

This is an awesome movie and it was a great reaction. Thanks for this. This is one of my favorite movies because it tells the truth about governments and power. By the way, I haven't read everyone's response but at the end, when the cabin explodes, that was real. That cabin blew up for real and you can see Mark Walberg's nervousness as he was walking away because he knew a serious explosion was about go off directly behind him. Anyway, GREAT GREAT reaction. Keep em coming, dude. :D

I agree about he shouldn't have helped, but when Danny Glover got in the vehicle he says he said yes he just don't know it yet. I've never figured out exactly what the blackmail or threat was he was talking about
Are you saying that you think it was a threat against swagger that made him help? It was emotional blackmail of a sort. He appealed to his patriotism as a Marine. He basically said the president was going to be shot and asked Swagger if he could live with not doing what he could to prevent it. The colonel knew he couldn't live with himself as a patriot and as a Marine if he didn't help.
One of the movies I never get tired of revisiting. ♥

Amazing sidenote: The director and screenwriter seem to expose themselves as members or at least as very strong supporters of the 9/11-Truth-Movement. Not only are the villains portrayed as some kind of rogue members of the government, but at the very beginning of the movie when he returns to his cabin in the mountains, gets his beer and sits at his desk, he says something in the line of "Let's see what lies are they trying to sell us today". Interestingly enough, at that very moment the 9/11-Commission Report is lying on his desk next to his laptop.
How much broader can a hint be?

The book was better (unsurprisingly) but this was still a good adaptation.
In the book, Nick Memphis was already a trained FBI sniper. He just lacked the skill and field experience Bob Lee Swagger possessed.
