The first C8 had the same super quick automatics of the Ferrari. It didn't have as much horsepower as the ZO6 or 7 but being a mid engine it put the weight of the motor over the rear wheels where it could put all that horsepower and torque to the ground. The proof was in the 0 to 60 times. I have a 2019 C7 Grand Sport and there is nothing lacking in this car. The interior is plush and upscale. Could have mentioned that the Corvette was outlawed from the SCCA showroom stock racing competition because no one beat it 1985/1986/1987 seasons. Not talking about overall points championship, talking about every single race for the first three years of the competition started. Corvettes would take the first 12-15? places then maybe a Porsche 944 turbo, then several more Corvettes. Not even high end exotic cars could compete with them, they tried, but went back to Italy with their tails between their legs.
You can! Just go out and find yourself a nice C6 with low mileage like I did. Get a Grand Sport with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION or don’t even bother. Those are nice! I can't even afford cars i had when i was a teenager now
8:21 Dude. WTF. Do your research. The C4 ZR-1 LT5 made 375 HP later 405 HP.
Time stamp 14:00
In the video it is stated that the C7 Corvette ZO6 which has 650 horsepower has more horsepower than both the C4 ZR1 (375 to 405 horsepower) and the C5 Z06 (385 horsepower) combined. In reality when you add the C4 ZR1 and C5 ZO6 horsepower figures together you get between 760 and 790 horsepower.
I absolutly love the way Ideal content is consistently inproving! Keep killing it Ideal!!
So I own a 00 R34 GTT and a 83 Datsun 280zx and I find it convenient that you guys made a video about a corvette well I’m looking at a C5 ZO6.
The Zora is going to be EPIC!
The 90 Zr1 had 375 hp. A few years later it was at 405. I have a lot of fun in my 94 Lt1 with a manual convertible and my 96 coupe with an automatic.
Corvette is king of roads always
My step mom has been an engineer in the plant that designs the Vette engines for a while now. Really interesting stories about the design process. I even knew they were going to redesign the engine almost a year before it was announced for the new rear engine design
the vette has always been on the line between sports car and super car. I feel now it has crossed the proper side of the line.
Oh my god.He took his cap off, I'm not dissapointed.😂😂
The "Fun to drive Sports car" concept is still not introduced by Indian car manufacturers in India
I work at a chevy dealership, and while I don't think I will ever want one, I do respect their heritage. There are 2 great songs off the top of my head about corvettes - little red corvette by prince, and riding with private Malone by David Ball.
love my C5 had it 2 years now and shes been a good daily driver.
The song heavy metal also speaks of a Corvette.
By reading the comments, I can tell you don't do much research. The 2013 427 Convertible does indeed have a 427. It is the 7.0 liter out of the Z06.
I have loved the Corvette ever since I saw the C5 Z06 when I was a kid. I hope I can own a Corvette one day.
You can! Just go out and find yourself a nice C6 with low mileage like I did. Get a Grand Sport with a MANUAL TRANSMISSION or don’t even bother. Automatic Vette’s are for POSERS who wear gold chains, smoke and think they can play golf F**k that. My 436hp 2011 is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. You only live once and you sure as shit won’t ever regret buying one but you will regret it till they put you in a Box if you don’t go buy one. Tomorrow is Saturday. Get moving! I got my C6 less than a year ago for $35K. Sure cars are crazy priced now but the market is loaded with low mileage used mint condition Vette’s. You deserve it. My wife said no. I said OK I’ll go get another motorcycle then. Game over. Oh, I scored a convertible s well…
Manual transmission only!
C5s are cheap right now. I bought a C4 for less than 10g. And it's still a seriously fun car(even though it's 30 years old this year).
@@metaljew4456 I gotta learn how to drive a manual first
@@riteousrighthand6144 I didn’t know they were that cheap.
@@BMoney8600 you gotta balance mileage and condition for value. I mean, you can find C4s that are still asking 20g+. Especially if you're after a ZR-1.
Mine was a 92, with 116k miles. Excellent exterior, save some chips in the targa. And, the interior was ok, but needed work(specifically the door panels).
But, yeah man. You can find them cheap. Just gotta search them out.
The 1989 ZR-1 LT-5 engine was rated at 375 HP, not 300. In 1992, the non ZR-1 Corvette was upgraded to the LT-1 engine rated at 300 HP and the LT-5 in the ZR-1 gained 20 HP for a total of 405 HP.
Thank you
Love my 2013 grand sport convertible. Not so crazy about an electric version. How are they gonna roar if electric?
My buddy is fixing that 490hp issue in the C8… his is already twin turbo and actually had to put the smaller turbos he had back on it just due to not being able to tune it… as soon as he can tune it… you best believe he will put the big turbos back on
Twin spiral blowers hooked up to that engine sounds like a match made in heaven. This is how legit sports car building companies should work their way out of the beloved dinosaur fossil guzzling era, with a no-holds-barred engineering marvel statement of absolute Power. Hopefully electrics won't get slow and boring, staying true to the fast sportscar lineage. I think the next 20to30 years will produce some beautiful examples of how insanely perfect last hooraas can, and should be
I have an 85 vette and it’s the best thing ever
Brad
That was an excellent representation of my favorite car
I have a yellow C6Z06
2nd gear is 90 mph
Need i say more
I love it
I love those early corvettes but the new C8 mid engine ZO6 is an American super car !!!!!! Great video!!!!
The Allard j2 and j2x are beautiful cars, I’m very fortunate to have both in the family.
Great piece ! Love all the history, and Its crazy development. Old enough to see all of these models and changes. 60s fuelys were unreal. All power , suspect suspension and brakes, but light your balls on fire power !!!!
I always loved the look of a Corvette but I never owned one. Why? Was not the money really. I got married very young 19 years old.
Not because I had to but I wanted to.
I ended up buying a home. Then 2 children I had 2 basic cars. One for me and one for the wife. When my kids were old enough to drive. Dear old dad went out and got a new car for each.
At one point besides all the other Bill's I had 4 car payments. Finally when my kids got older I got a 2003 Shelby Cobra. That's the nicest car I have ever gotten just for me. Yes if not for all the above expenses I certainly could have had one.
Best years of my life was bringing up my family. I would have never thought.
Right there with you bro did same, took care of family first and never regretted it one bit. Kids are big now s just got an old c4 just to tinker with. Next stop maybe trade up to a c6
As a guy who thinks only EU makes supercars i take my hat off to C8 Z06 even i admit it.Its first american supercar.Great work chevy 👏
The c8 stingray is out here beating "supercars" 0-60....
@@Forever.Remain.Nameless i prefer Z06
The C7 Z06 and ZR1 are also super cars. If your beating super cars you are a super car.
@@craigthescott5074 so that means mk4 supra is also supercar
@@Wulf573 don’t know anything about Supra’s except I saw brand new Supra’s on a track at Barrett Jackson driving against Z51 C8 Corvettes and there was no comparison. The Supra was loosing it all over the track smoking the tires like a drift car and the Corvette was handling and putting the power down like an F1 race car. The Supra and C8 are not even in the same league at the track.
I only rode in a corvette once and I’ll never forget it!
3:58 Wow
President Joe is so cool in his aviator sunglasses, driving that race car Wow.
Let's go Joe.
Always loved foreign sports cars (Lambo, Porsche). Then the C7 grew on me, but the C8 got my attention.
Would never have considered it before thanks for the history and current heads up ...Sorry to hear you're into electric already...
A C-4 held the world speed record for production cars for over 20 years.
Great video, some of the information and stats presented are inaccurate but very well made with good editing. Keep it up!
Best part, the accurate comparison and transition to the future
Lets gooo! Thx for watching!! :)
No matter where the engine is or if its powered by AA's, the most important thing is that we keep those taillights
I own a C5 and it's still fairly expensive for a regular person's toy but doable if you save and buy used,, in no way shape or form is a C8 affordable to a normal person..especially when you tack on dealer mark ups putting it well north of 100k to get out the door..
its not a corvette if the V8 isn't in the car. its tradition and i don't want to think that a electric corvette will come out. it reminds me of a mustang mach E which you do know how well that went.
Definitely!
@@robertdragoff6909
Or do you remember the new mustang with a V6 instead of a V8?
It's not America horsepower if the horse power is not from a V8.
I wouldn't mind a V10 though. Would be cool
Wow.This video was awesome.
I love my C7 and miss my C3. Corvette is an awesome car!! Cannot what for my C7 to be paid off because, mid engine is in the future!!!
I’ll have a corvette before I die. Gotta do it for dale.
I love my C8 stingray ! I am hoping for a Z06 or a ZR1 next !!
When I buy My C8, I will be sporting jorts, white New Balance, and 3D printed Fiero emblems!!
Ahhh yes, the Toyota Corvette! And the C4 was EXPLOSIVE!
I don't know what you are smoking, but the American brand Chevy made the Corvette, not a asian auto maker.
@@theroyalcrownedtiger2946 Yeah...was just a bad joke.
@@jonathonbarnes3582 : Oh ok, aight, gotcha.

“You’ve never seen anything like this before”-It’s been a long time since I’ve seen that commercial. And, I seriously hope it doesn’t go electric.
Electric is the future but will never replace the excitement of hearing the in your face ice. Manufacturers need to understand that.
Proud owner of a 1988 Corvette 🦅🦅Getcha some of that !
4:40 the engine in a 2013 427 CE is 7.0 liters, that equals 427ci. Where did you get that it’s not a 427?
this is the most iconic sports car in america! 🇺🇸

@@KingDeadMan aah he said most iconic sports car.
@@craigthescott5074 I'm glad you understood. 🙂👍
Well to be quite honest with you the very first Corvette was supposed to be a mid engine car but patents stopped them from making one until now which is amazing the 1995 Camaro was the original mid engine Corvette when the pattens were up but never took place unfortunately but it finally happened now a days and they are amazing cars 💯🤘
What?
Actually the Zora Duntov the designer of the C2 not the C1 wanted the 1963 to be a mid engine car but Chevy wouldn’t do it.
I think the first ever fiberglass sports car ins the US was a Glasspar(?)
Yep
My first car was handed down to me as a graduation present. a 1971 454 LS5 Orange Corvette. I come from a Corvette family and they are my favorite American Sports car ❤
Wasn't there an international race, that the C4 dominated so badly, they banned it from competition? Don't get me wrong, The C5 and 6 are superior machines. BUT, the C4 was no slouch in it's day.
And lets not forget, Late model C4 Zr-1s made over 400 ponies.
yea i was going to type that lol late model zr1s made 405hp
@@ebkbk9902 which is more power than any C5, not a Z06.
The base C6 6.0LS2, makes 400. But, it has the benefit of 20+ years of technological/engineering advancements.

I love my Vette pure American greatness! Cheap, powerful, and fun! What more could you want? 🤙
Love your videos. So insightful
It gripes my ass to see someone using paddle shifters like that guy was doing, the biggest advantage to me is the fact that you can keep both hands on the wheel while shifting, that unnecessary crap he was doing just looks stupid.
One Word for exhaust of C6.R is Sound of Thunder
my fav corvette is the 71 stingray hard top...no convertibles...those 2 thin chrome bumpers and the sharkgils under the stingray emblem....and that oh so sexy body....its a really iconic and beautiful machine imo! BUT i also love love love the new mid engine Vette!!! its about time chevy made one! and they made way more affordable....well not for me after a nasty divorce etc...but at one point not so long ago...i would have gotten one for sure! after watching a lil' farther down the video....My Fav car of all is and will always remain the 911 turbo! any and all years...mid 80s black on black would be a smiles factory!
I could design a retro front end kit for the C6 Corvette and C7 as well because I like to make the front end look like the C3 Corvette
Loved the video. But you'll love my 1200 horsepower 26B twin electric supercharged peripheral ported 4-rotor in my '77 C3...coming to you in August 2022!
My dad had the second to the last production Vette made in 1977.
That's just before they went rear bubble window. Funny thing is my grandma's 1976 thunderbird (monster boat) smoked that Corvette 1/4 mile and top speed with all the comforts of a motorhome.
In the early 90s you could have got the Sledgehammer package which killed any supercar at the time...
About 8 months ago I bought a 2000 C5 Corvette for $12,500 and its been the greatest car I've ever owned
