I’m gonna be honest. Myth 2 is actually right. Yeah cool, your 4-banger with a turbo is faster than an NA V8. Now add a turbo to that V8. Now the V8 is better again. There’s no replacement for displacement because that is the volume of mixture that can be burnt and compressed. A turbo helps in both cases.
The efficiency curve tapers off quickly, though. Your gains charging a 4 banger are a lot by percentage. Charging a small v8 is less as a percent, charging a huge v8 has even less gains as a percent. Dragsters making 10k hp run an engine smaller than the one in the Camaro ss. Formula one cars run a 1.6l engine making 850HP.
That's not the arguement made here though, I'm not saying turbo > V8, I'm saying adding a turbo to a 4 pot will have the generally same effect as running a larger displacement engine. The advantage to the turbo being it's more efficient, lighter, and smaller.
@Ideal Cars, oh, i think I understand. You mean that in the event that displacement is not an option, forced induction can be a great substitute in more ways than just power.
@@oldchap1228 Most dragsters run Allen Johnson motors, 426. Your right though, it's the older Z28s that had the 7 liters. The newer ones run smaller supercharged six liters... Which kinda lends itself more to dispel the myth and goes forward to prove my point.
EVs batteries won't last more then a decade on a battery pack except maybe a odd occasion but agas engine can still work after 70 years like on those Model A.
Not to mention the electricity was probably produced by burning coal or fuel oil. And heat up your car in the morning is only done in the winter. You heating up your cold ass car so you aren't freezing you butt off during the 30 minutes drive to work.
@Jayson Adams you also can't measure HP the same way with a electric car but that doesn't stop us from still using HP. The Lucid has around 1200HP if I was right and that's not bad. I can say every electric car that isn't a Tesla is better then Tesla they are cool but I would prefer something like a Aptera.
@Jayson Adams not everyone has $180,000 for a Tesla model s plaid and a nissan leaf does 0-100 in like 11-12 seconds and my bmw e91 bmw 325i does that in 6-7 seconds and will do 750km on a tank all for $6,500 tell me why evs are good again 🤨🤔
Based on old cars having steel bodies and steel frames. Yeah they can brush off low speed accidents really well but once the impact exceeds the strength of the frame than the whole car turns into modern art. Modern cars crumple easily but the passenger area remains very rigid like a crab shell
Yeah they don't get as damaged in accidents, but all of that force that crumples new cars, used to just crumple the passengers. It's wildly safer to be in a modern car.
Most Older cars have Chasis whereas newer cars are Monoquoc (Unibody) & the bodywork was of thicker grade steel whereas most now are thinner steel or Aluminium, & all newer cars have Crumple Zones, these are designed to be a weak spot that absorbs the impact, they can be made to Crumple at whatever PSI the manufacturer chooses so that could be at even the slightest bump, new cars are only built to last a few years whereas older cars were built to last for decades, this was detrimental to people buying a new one every few years "If it ain't broke, don't sell it & buy a new one", the batteries on electric cars will also have a limited lifespan, it will be so expensive to replace them that people will just trade them in & buy new. The age of the Disposable car is upon us.
"No replacement for displacement" disproved by turbos? If you want to add forced induction to a smaller engine to get more power, I will just add forced induction to my larger displacement.
That's not the argument I'm making. This wasn't saying "4 cylinder turbos are better than V8s!" I was just saying, addint forced induction to a smaller engine does actually function similar to adding displacement. The added advantage is lighter weight and better efficiency.
@@IdealMediaChannel I understand that. It just reminded me of something said in one of those "top speed shoot out" Car & Driver or Motortrend issues in the mid to late 90s. A Viper hit the top speed. It had a bypass valve on the exhaust. Someone with a turbocharged car said that if they had cut off their exhaust like the Viper they would have gone as fast. The Viper guy said, "I guess I will just have to add a blower." Game, set and match to the Viper guy.
@@IdealMediaChannel you literally just proved the point by saying more displacement means more power by saying adding a turbo will have a similar affect as more displacement😂
Ok, I’ve watched more than a few videos on this channel. The cop jokes on the red car part of the video made me hit the subscribe button. Well played. 👏 👏 👏
E.v.'s can do their thing but I hate that it's being forced on consumers who don't want E.v.'s Also have you seen a battery catch fire? Fair to say the chemical fire is extremely dangerous. Apparently a chemical fire extinguisher is required And how are the batteries disposed of after they can no longer hold charge? For Tesla's at least I heard getting a new battery is more expensive than buying a new car.
Hey I agree, I do not believe in the mandating of EVs as fast as they're doing it. I think we're likely all gonna need a bit more time to adjust. I just also think if we're going to debate about it, we should all be well educated about the subject.
@@IdealMediaChannel thanks for understanding. I myself try to be understanding with most everything and critical even of the things I love. Nothing is perfect, without it's faults, errors or hiccups
Being from Washington state and sleezy wanting to ban the sale of ICE engine vehicles by I think it was 2030 or 2035 is ridiculous. I'm not sure how he'll pull that off since he'll be putting so many people out of jobs in the local used car market and the people who can't afford an electric vehicle.
For me, the Supra is my dream car since I’m 12 (I’m 17 now) and it became my favorite car because I had one in NFS and I absolutely loved it… so much that I took a crappy ass picture from my TV screen and printed it, to hang it up in my room. I know that a Supra doesn’t come with 9999 hp stock but it’s just a special car for me, which gives me nostalgia when I think about it. It’s also the design I fell in love with, the trunk for example, how the taillights flow up into the rear and also the roofline and the front of the car. Of course, a bonestock Supra isn’t that attractive, you have to do at least some power and make it look cool with a TRD wing etc. I am kinda glad that I have never been that kid, which saw any Instagram 2JZ 2step video and thought that this car is the most badass one in the world because it’s so loud and everybody around it is going crazy. It’s more what the car makes me feel like when I see it.
What people don't no about EV's is that you still have to produce the electric and only a small part comes from wind mills and solar panels. Then the batteries are very nasty to make and puts alot of pollute chemicals in the atmosphere. We all live in the same atmosphere and the same plant. COME ON PEOPLE just because it's made in another country does not make us greener. Now that's STUPID.
How we are we gonna charge electric vehicles especially 18 wheelers we haven’t invested in the Infrastructure on the power grid!! Big oil made sure electric cars weren’t a thing 100 years ago!!
well if the supra would've been built as planned it would've been a super car, even todays days. as a former worker for mercedes (13 years in the actual production) todays cars are produced with less quality to increase the maintenance interval
I am looking at a W124 Wagon. I like the entire design, the older Mercedes are easier to work on than anything from 1998 and newer. To me it is having a iconic brand but not taking out $80,000 plus. I do have a BMW E39 Wagon M62 supercharged engine, KW Evo3 racing suspension. To round out German cars the other one is a Audi S6 Avant I left that one stock.
I have seen videos of a flash when using a cell while pumping. I never heard of one blowing up, but fumes can ignite with little more than static electricity and fumes.
I love the video alot of great points but what about the early 90s Ls400 I generally think you have to let it at least idle for 10 minutes especially with high For longevity and Feed it 89 or 91 depending on which state you live in?
An outdated car myth? "German cars are reliable, French ones not." After driving a new a Volkswagen Golf mk 4 for 6 years, that was an endless money pit that costed me the MSRP just in repair over 6 years, I purchased a new Toyota Prius mk 2 Made in Japan, that didn't need much more than oil, brakes, muffler, some sensors and gaskets over 13 years, and now I'm having a new Toyota Yaris, Made in France, and there is literally NOTHING to repair. 😃 Please, just stay away from me with VW, BMW or Mercedes-Benz. I'm done with that. 🤪
The whole "X car company makes bad cars" is sorta a complete myth as it is. Mercedes makes cars that will last until we all are extinct; they also make cars that won't last until Tuesday. The Yaris is an ancient design based on proven concepts; the Peugeot 2008 is a French car that is regularly found in shops instead of on the road. The American Ford Mustang will last 200k miles easily. The Ford Edge had to be discontinued because it gained such a terrible reputation for breaking.
@@IdealMediaChannel Well, maybe not until the 1950's/60's. But after 2000? 🤯 ... all their turbocharged, directly injected, overenginered monstrosities of complexity with electrically heated thermostats and electronically controlled servodriven plastic flaps and valves that need intake vacuum to operate... no thanks. Without me pls. 😳😬 (I'm saying this as a German!)
Several different groups have made lists of most American to least American-made cars. These lists taken to account where the car is assembled, where it's components come from, where the raw materials come from, where it's developed, and so on.
Ideal cars: modern Transmissions are amazing and work really really good ME: then why do so many car manufacturers including JDM ones keep having recalls for the transmissions? :/
Here's a myth: the tire pressure listed on the little sticker in your door is accurate. While it's a good guideline if you have a car that still has the original wheels and tires that came on it from the factory, as soon as you get a new set of tires, that might change, especially if you get LT tires for your Ford ranger or jeep wrangler. You gotta find out what tire pressure best suits your specific wheel and tire setup. Also, those oils and oil filters that say you can go 20k miles before your next oil change is BS. It even says on the back label to always follow the oil change interval specified in your owner's manual.
Also the interval between oil changes can vary greatly depending on factors such as driving habits, engine condition, type of traffic (stop & go vs highway) and air quality, such as regularly driving in a hot desert climate.
What's absolutely unreal is that even with statistics proving newer cars to be safer there's people who are just too hard headed. I had a Facebook conversation once with an older woman who tried to claim that. I posted a video from Consumer Reports showing a head on collision between an old and newer car. This video proved newer cars are safer and she still refused to believe it. Some people are just too hard headed to accept reality.
I don't think it's old cars are unreliable per se I just think that no matter how reliable the car is things break over time and people don't want to deal with their car breaking and having to replace that stuff. But if you're watching this channel you probably have a daily for your daily for your daily.. lol. Also in the NE rust always wins
Yeah, saying that "old cars aren't unreliable" is a bit dangerous, especially when a lot of engines have timing belts and interference engines. The Korean cars are known for premature wear on piston rings, and the cost of rebuilding the engine can almost match the value of the car. If you bought an Audi that somebody traded in with a failing catalytic converter, you're in for a nasty surprise when the check engine light comes on again.
My 1969 Chevelle is the most reliable transportation I have ever had. (I'm 46 and gone through 19 vehicles since 16.) Still drive it daily. EVERYWHERE. Even to the top of the ski resort in north Idaho. I put studded snow tires on for winter driving. (Unless we're having one of our famous snowstorms that dump 24 inches in 1 shot-i'll be in my 1997 Dodge Cummins). I drive it on the dirt/gravel roads all through the mountains. It's my car. That's what I drive. And YAAASSSS I love it more now with the 454 big block instead of the 350 it came with from the factory. I may try the advice of turbocharging it now, rather than going with a 632 that I hoped to get in the next couple years 😊
If you own a boosted car... DO NOT DRIVE UR RIDE UNTIL IT REACHES TEMP! If ya do your turbo will not get the oil it needs to keep it cool. Matter of fact, a lot of boosted cars have a warning icon that pops up (mines a snowflake) if your engine hasn't reached proper temp for it to properly reach the oil lines for your turbo. With newer NA cars, it's definitely true that temp isn't an issue... Thats not the case with boosted cars. Along with my snowflake icon, I've programed my Xi to display a blue water temp icon to display itself when i start the car and then disappear as soon as my car reaches temp. A lot of trucks (and some cars) have an oil heater that you can plug in when the vehicle is parked to avoid the wait. Just unplug it, start the car and go. Just to clarify, taking off early will only shorten the life of the turbo, not the engine itself. With changing the oil... I don't care what anyone says. I'm changing my oil every 2,500-3,000 miles... Period. It won't hurt it and it gives me peace of mind.
One of the clips about higher octane fuel, with the guy on his phone is why I as a gas station employee tell people to get off their phones! Lack of attention is the biggest danger on a forecourt. 🤣
Disagree with the oil change part. Oils cheap so it's better to change it sooner rather than later. Modern cars are designed to last around warranty period and maybe a little bit more. Manufacturers don't care about cars lasting eternity, they would like you to buy new car every 5 or 6 years.
You're spot on with the whole "miles" bs, that's why it's easy for me to sell cars with low miles, even though they're straight pos's.lmao Ive rebuilt countless engines that had 40k-70k miles, while i regularly take hours-long roadtrips in cars with over 200k miles with no issue. Basing a cars reliability off of mileage is straight up stupid.😂
The exploding gas station thing comes from static electricity, where people would be pumping gas, hear their phone, slide their butt across a velour seat to grab the phone, and then go back to the nozzle and create a static spark. Boom. Also, most people get distracted while talking on phones, and do stupid things (as in your video); I have no problem with gas stations banning the use of phones while pumping.
I have a K & N cold air Intake on my NC Miata, and I did notice a difference in throttle response. It may not add near as much HP as advertised, but I did feel a difference, which means that it's doing something.
Cold air intakes are a myth for me. I simply swapped my paper filter with a K&N for the stock box. I had the same results with better throttle response. Didn’t need a cold air intake setup. EngineeringExplained covered the topic. You just need to swap out the standard filter with a free flowing reusable. The only thing CAIs do is make your engine louder. If louder is what someone wants, just straight pipe it.
@:46 Also, the fact that your car has EGR. That means some of the hot exhaust is recirculated back to the intake. The hot exhaust cancels alot if not all of the cooling of the intake air.
@@crazeguy26 I am just referring to the intake. People who turbo charge their car install and intake cooler only to have the air heated up again with the egr cracks me up. ps. I disabled my egr on my car and it give my car alot more pep.
i'll concede that, 1 EV is beneficial for your wallet (in the long run) and the environment. but many people forget about the production process of lithium batteries for EVs as well as where that electricity comes from. Sure lots of countries have begun the switchover to green energy, but an overwhelming majority of countries still heavily rely on coal-fire power-stations simply because the green alternatives are insufficient and can't keep up with demands, sure it helps if the EV in question has a solar-panel roof, but stuff like that is very expensive even for those who can actually afford it. Solar power-stations are the way to go, but their energy output is still too small compared to a similarly-sized coal-power plant.
I'll always start my car in the morning and wait a minute before driving, you need to get the oil through the motor as it settled into the sump over night.
When the engine has sufficient oil pressure, the oil light will go out. It should be going out literally as soon as the engine's running if not within a few seconds after. If it doesn't, you have a problem.
Turbo power is measured in litres. I had the same car in your background. 1978 Volvo 242DL. Mine had a 3 phase rack, but it was manual steering. That combined with a 2.3L overhead cam 4 speed manual, front and rear anti sway bars and 4 wheel double piston calipers I used to push BMWs up Topanga Canyon for a goof. Almost forgot, it had Lambas sund injection. Volvo beta tested Mercedes technology in exchange for said technology. The chrome mylidnium head failed at 575851 miles. Loved that car!
@@clarencesmith9580 I'm a V8 man myself. People delude themselves that they're only running, call it 3.0 litres, but turbos create displacement by design. There's nothing wrong with forced induction as long as you've built the lower end to handle it.
@@raiderjohnthemadbomber8666 Sorry but there is a big problem with turbos. Have you heard of oil cook off? They super heat the oil and if you stay with the 10,000 mile change plan you will kill the engine.
@@clarencesmith9580 unless you use it like a maniac it won't it's not like a v8 wont get extremely hot if you burn tires in 4th gear for 5 minutes there is also a reason why they add oil coolers and some japanese tuners made turbo timers
Yo! Love the channel.... You don't warm up your car for oil pickup... Any junkyard mechanic knows this... It's for all the metals and alloys to get to operating temperature which means the clearances inside the engine are at or close to spec.... ESPECIALLY if it has a turbo/twin. Metals are brittle folks.... Warm that shit up. Or say bye bye bye after you jump in on 45-60 days and punching it. Science, it's a real thing.
You are so right. I have been in the car industry in different areas over 20 years! There is more than a few reasons to warm your car up or even idle it down when it has a turbo, especially if it doesn’t have an after running fan or oil heater. If this was a total myth, why are more and more coming with remote starting? Someone is going to say for the A/c or heating…it’s just simply always better to take precautions and care for things you want to last you long.
@@robertsumairsingh1050 If you want to care for your car, start it up, wait a few seconds for the oil light to go out (really, it shouldn't even take that long), and drive away carefully. Still better than letting it sit. Also engines burn fuel much more efficiently under load.
I am a driving enthusiast.. I love the 'driving' part of a vehicle more than anything else..I don't actually mind what powertrain is there, as long as there's enough driver involvement is there.. because I love cycling, riding motorcycles, driving cars, and at one point I wanted to be an airline pilot ( I still want to, but times up). obviously not every one of these are powered by a v8 engine 😅. In the case of EVs, the lack of a transmission is worrying for me ( but I don't want some fake manual transmissions like audi is planning) I hope they find more ways to make the car more involving, or reduce the driver assistance. simply flooring the accelerator pedal and holding the steering wheel, while watching the car accelerates ( no matter how hard ) doesn't make a driving enthusiast that happy, I guess..
Ay man, it's never too late to join the aviation community. On my first flight lesson there was a man that looked to be in his 70s or late 60s that was working for his private pilots liscence.
RPM's would be a replacement for displacement. If you have 1/2 the displacement & 3x the revolutions, Raising the compression ratio, Forced induction. Lots of ways to build engine power. Mega cubes are going to have a heavy metal curb weight. 600+ CID isn't going to sip fuel either.
The change your oil every 3000 miles isn’t really a myth, I’ve had multiple new cars come in with a little over 10k miles with the manufacture saying you don’t have to change your oil as often and then it’s almost empty on oil and that engines life has been drastically reduced
One thing I've ran into with overdue oil changes is the screens clogging on the cam phasers. I think generally oil will last longer than 3000 miles especially today's high end synthetic products but the filters may not. I had a buddy that installed a secondary massive filter and a pump that filtered the oil and even after 20,000 miles the oil looked like u could have poured it straight out of the bottle. Not saying some of the other additives wouldn't have burnt off but it was remarkable
Ah yes, the cold air intake myth. Hilarious! As far as the displacement myth goes, I went for both; I bought a Mercedes CL 55 AMG that has a 5.4 liter supercharged putting out 493 bhp and 516 ft-lbs of torque with a fantastic 5 speed automatic transmission. AMG put the 5-speed auto transmission because that was the only transmission that could handle the engine's output. Seatbelts and airbags save lives, PERIOD. Yes, some EVs are awesome and faster than a lot of fast ICE cars. Oh man, the oil change myth is so wrong today. I use synthetic oil only, and that stuff lasts a very long time. Yes, white cars are the most popular cars, so they get pulled over more often. The American made cars myth. My car is a Mercedes-Benz, and I've been driving German cars forever. Sorry, I just like them better.
I had a 1994 TT Supra. With the help of powerhouse racing and Titan motorsports and abut 60k it had just shy of 1800hp. A beast. Have two mkv Supra’s. One has 700 hp have about 25k in getting there counting the tuning time and dyno time. Quick yes on the mkv the sheer smack you in the face the mkiv had isn’t there. But the mkv is incredible. Both are incredible.
In stock form, the auto MKIV was faster on the 1/4 than the manual. My Supra (an auto) does include tiptronic and it can be useful doing "manual" gear changes on the track to keep revs/turbo output up, but it changes gears 100% reliably every time at the right time better than any manual driver is capable of. Doesn't require huge $$ to make serious output, and I never thought of it as a "super car", just a very good one.
@4:30 I get that a lot....why I don't buy a new car, but I actually prefer used cars for the same purpose you said....a reliable used car may be had for as low as 2500 dollars and it may need a few thousand dollars to make it more reliable but it beats buying a new car.
My mx5, the latest version actually has a light on the dashboard that illuminates when you first start until the car has warmed up so not always a myth
Cold air intakes don’t necessarily make more power but they can depending on the original intake system. Had a short intake system on my 14 camry for a while and it enabled the engine to pull in an extra 18% more air(measured by a place that specialized in imports). Unfortunately as my engine etc wore it went outside what computer would compensate for and ran into issues. Put factory system back in due to the fact was planning to sell but definitely fun while it lasted…
Chevrolet actually was started by a guy named Louis Chevrolet (There are more, but he was the main founder), and he was born in Switzerland, and the logo was inspired by a wallpaper at a hotel in Paris that William C. Durant (Another founder) stayed in. So, when you think about it, Chevrolet really isn’t that American at all.
Sorry, one more. Well, 2 more. That cell phone thing probably has some sort of federal mandate/law/rule to it, and if we know anything about federal laws, ....... 100 years later,.... Still there. But you're right! The sports car/seeing red thing, I had to do a little reddit/Quora research on cars that were pulled over, and spend 5 minutes figuring out why low end sports cars, at least here, almost don't exist anymore. The lookup: if your car looks "old", even if legal and maintained, you will be followed, unfortunately! End of low end sports cars, people still wanted fast ish cars, but didn't want to be watched/followed/tracked by cops everywhere for having a "looker". Hence the modern age, unfortunately, where most standard sized cars with perform well, with it without mods, but no one is really looking for them. That being said, maybe because of it, EPA (read 2 days ago) is now trying to make ALL mods illegal. Anyway, hope it helps, all I've got.
I always read my owner’s manuals!! Why wouldn’t you want to fully know the vehicle you’re driving?!!! I wait until the change engine oil reminder comes on!! Of course as long as you reset it immediately after the change.
Im subscribing because I like and agree with your side comments... wait im already subscribed... guess real recognized real long time ago!!! Great vid 👍!!!!
One i have heard about filling up with gas is to not do it when the semi trucks are they filling the underground tanks. Something about the sediment being disturbed and being able to get sucked up by the pump to your cars tank. Idk how true it is but, it sounds believable!
Ok, so muffler changes without headers and changing the intake doesn't do much in terms of performance or horsepower, but some folks do it just for the fun factor.
I don’t care about the 10k synth oil change interval recommendation. I’ll always change at 5k with 0w20 for my cars. Head gasket seals have remained the same for the last 50 years. Dirt particles in the air has gotten worse and more acidic (global warming). Changing oil more regularly does help prolong your seals.
The new oil change thing is a myth, to make your engine last if it says change it at 10,000 change it at 5,000 because new engines run hotter to get the HP AND the mileage.
I really think that *most* people’s complacency with “every 10k” is resulting in neglect of maintenance. Maybe BMWs and Audi’s aren’t so unreliable. It’s just that most of their owners are just dumb when it comes to taking care of a car. And let’s face it, anyone who isn’t into wrenching is just an idiot when it comes to knowing how to drive or maintain a car (like those idiots who bring their cars to a quick lube shop 😆)
What is meant by no replacement for displacement is that take a v8 and a 4 cylinder. Throw bolt on power adders at each and the 4 cylinder will never beat the other motor on power or torque. A bigger motor is always going to be better because engines are just big air pumps and the more air you can burn the more power you can make. All things being equal there really is no replacement for displacement….
Go look at Shell's 93 octane Test (and independant testing) Results. They speak for themselves. Other Gas suppliers, maybe not. However it does help remove carbon build up after a full tank. I use it in my built STI and nothing else (Yes I know i have to use 93 but still). I also fill up a CX5 every 3rd tank w Shell 93 and I'm a believer in it.
Lmao, people really out here thinking that gas prices wouldn't be higher in the morning if you could get more. This is actually why gas is more expensive in the winter, once the ground cools down and starts freezing, the gas will actually be more dense, not a whole lot more dense, but dense enough to make a small difference, as such gas prices rise a few cents before and during winter in Northern states/countries.
It is to dry up AC evaporator. If you shut down the car and turn off the fans all the moisture on evaporator is going to stay and attract mold and bacteria
If you're wondering if the a/c puts a bigger strain on the starter when you start it, every car made in pretty much the last 20 years will not engage the a/c clutch until the engine's been running for a few seconds.
Most gas stations just don’t care in SoCal. Hell I see people smoking at the pump from time to time. Never seen an attendant stop that. If anything, a Karen will probably make a commotion.
My only issue was the No Replacement for Displacement. Otherwise people with an RB26 wouldn't be punching it out to 3 liters, or a B16 wouldn't be getting yanked for a B18. All else being equal, take two RB26s with the same cams, same head work, same tune, exhaust and etc. and then another pushed out to 3 liters and all else being literally equal the bigger engine will make more power. People also don't seem to consider one thing about EV cars is some scientists say the amount of material used to make the batteries is actually more limited than oil and will eventually run out sooner than if we relied on internal combustion engines. I don't know how RIGHT they are because I don't have the data because people's claims are all over the place. One man says "If we traded all of our gas cars in for electric we will run out of lithium in 10 years. After recycling those cars will stop running in less than 20 and we will have no cars." and others say "Lithium lasts forever, recycling them produces no more emissions than a single tube of super glue, and the world will be saved!". I do believe personally that the best route is to keep on the course we have no. Cleaner and more efficient cars, recycle all of our motor oil, begin running on sustainable fuels like Ethanol, and maybe even devote more research to hydrogen cars. Maybe we can take a hint from Fallout games and make NUCLEAR cars! I'd be down for that! Though I am not against EVs, I kind of want one. But they're a bit out of my price range, even a Leaf is too much. (Even old ones, EV batteries do NOT last forever and many do NOT like fast charging cycles!) But they say an EV will begin to lose efficiency at around 100,000 miles and be pretty well useless at 200,000 miles before needing replaced. Many cars that are 5 years old are beyond that 100K mark. So take the battery out and recondition it creating pollution in the process at around $6000 or so to do so... How much better is that?
Yellow used to be the highest color. White cars are pulled over more too because they stand out more. A grey car blends in more and is less likely to be pulled over. The lighter the blue, the quicker you see blue behind you,, used to be a joke that supercars owners would make. That's why owners who got Gulf livery cars wouldn't drive them hard. Red supercars though do get pulled over more than other cars in that category. If you want a supercar that rarely gets pulled over...get a Porsche or a Mercedes. Also, purple cars will instantly attract police attention. Humans are automatically drawn to the color purple.
The colder air coming in has a greater density. When it is heated in the engine, it will have a greater impact on the piston, forcing it down with more force.
Ok I could be wrong, but the whole American car foreign car debate. I always hear where it’s assembled, but my question is where does the funds go. Do the funds go to a American brand or a Japanese brand?
Most automotive companies have American branches and the money goes to that branch. They then pay their American manufacturers and American marketing and American sales teams.
Myth 6 is not about it being safer or not, it is about having the choice to be safe or not. Exercising, proper sleeping cycle, and healthy diet lengthens life by a tremendous amount BUT should we force people int exercising, proper sleeping cycle, and healthy eating? Or do we just leave people to do what they want with their bodies?
"Aint no replacement for displacement" refer more to the feeling of a big v8+ under your foot, not necessarily power output, a tiwn turbo v4 could put out more power than a v8, but it wont feel the same
the one thing i love is that the fact with the premium gas actually depends on the market where you bought your cars. Since cars in germany for example are sold with slight changes to the engine because american "high quality gas" is the basic one we can buy in germany. And we can also buy 99 or 98 octane at about every gas station. XD
You can't buy 98 or 99 octane fuel in Germany. You can buy 98 RON fuel, which is a big difference. And you do realise that the US premium octane 93 fuel is identical to Europe's RON 98, right?
@@cristianseminario7899 you'd be wrong. Nowhere in Europe do they use anything but the RON measurements. Other parts of the world (like the US, Canada, I think maybe Japan or a select few other Asian countries) use either the MON or the AKI (motor octane number / anti knocking index). And never on a pump will you see it advertised as just "octane". The numbers also don't even correspond to percentages of octane.
@@cristianseminario7899 pretty sure it's not, since from 2018 onwards Italy is also obligated by EU law to list them as E5, E10 and E85. But even for arguments sake, let's say they did still have the old information - are you really the type to believe all marketing they read? You believe those wish/ali-expres 9000 watt car amplifiers as well? Just because they don't want to bother/bore customers with excessive technical information, doesn't meant they don't actually use the RON system. You could just take 2 minutes out of your day and find the info I'm telling you, instead of continuing to make a fool out of yourself on here.
I was pulled over at a speed trap for speeding, which I wasn't, and when the cop checked the radar and realized I was not over the speed limit I asked him: "Why did you pull me over then if you didn't check your radar?", and he replied "I saw a red sports car and figured it must be speeding" (I was driving a red Nissan 280ZX 2+2). The myth is not kinda true, kinda false... it is true. Proportionally is the only way you CAN look at it. If you drive a red performance car, you will attract unwanted attention.
In hotter parts of the planet. It can definitely make a difference. Especially when the difference between overnight temps and the midday high is 20 to 30 degrees Celsius.
😂... I found that gas price is a couple cents cheaper, early the morning because most people are asleep and not driving 👍. Between 4am and 5am. .... 😂 I use only 91 octane from Shell. Engine, stable and not shaken while idle at red light 👍....
The "cold air filters" added to modern cars won't change anything if you don't remap the engine. 1:31 That's a semi-automatic, not an automatic. 4:20 That's actually quite true. The reason a used car is cheap IS BECAUSE OF MAINTENANCE. The reliable ones ARE NOT CHEAP. Oh, so you found someone with an unreliable Jeep that's brand new? New cars have warranty. If someone modified them that's a whole other issue. You think an old BMW will he cheap to maintain? 😆 Not the ones that have been built from the late 2000s onwards. First year of a car will probably still have some issues but you just for a year and half to pass. Not a reason to not buy a new car. If a new car is reliable...it might not be that reliable as an old car because parts get old and you will have to change parts that you usually don't change. If you buy a car that cost new $50.000 and "lost $20.000 in the first 5 years", you're not smarter nor more hard working. In fact you're a mark. 😆 The amount of money you will put in that car is going to drive you mad. People that bought a new car don't wish they bought an older one....unless it's very specific. You harp on new cars because you wish you bought one. 😆 Have fun with your car mate but expect to spend a lot on maintenance if spend very little on it.
So the method behind getting gas in the morning that they are referring to is wrong. BUT, depending on your area gas is actually ever so slightly cheaper in the morning than the afternoon and evening. usually between $0.02 - $0.09. its really up to where you live and how that gas station operates.
I’ve got a 19 mustang GT and I have always done the old let her warm up as a habit but also because I like the idle to drop so it mellows out a bit and isn’t like a screaming dragster down the road all the time after start up, however the mustang community hates on autos so I get that all the time but I love it as well as I’m guilty of the oil changes as I’ve been warned by the previous owner that on the newer GT’s the cams are problematic with this and will effectively grenade if the oil gets too dirty and has already had to replace them under warranty so I follow the advice

No replacement for good engineering.
Let's not forget about the fact that battery range is significantly lower when it's cold outside.

One myth I’ve always wonder is that cars from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s won’t be wrecked that bad
Old cars are NOT safer. However, people will still tell you with great assurance that they are.
@@jeffmayo6002 Think "crumple zones"
"No replacement for displacement" disproved by turbos? If you want to add forced induction to a smaller engine to get more power, I will just add forced induction to my larger displacement.
That's not the argument I'm making. This wasn't saying "4 cylinder turbos are better than V8s!" I was just saying, addint forced induction to a smaller engine does actually function similar to adding displacement. The added advantage is lighter weight and better efficiency.
you're missing the point...and proves their point

"German cars are reliable, French ones not."
After driving a new a Volkswagen Golf mk 4 for 6 years, that was an endless money pit that costed me the MSRP just in repair over 6 years, I purchased a new Toyota Prius mk 2 Made in Japan, that didn't need much more than oil, brakes, muffler, some sensors and gaskets over 13 years, and now I'm having a new Toyota Yaris, Made in France, and there is literally NOTHING to repair.

How's that a myth?

"Because you own an old ass car" lmaoooo

if you use plane Jane oil it's not going to last over 3000 you need full synthetic oil to go ever 3000
Disagree with the oil change part. Oils cheap so it's better to change it sooner rather than later. Modern cars are designed to last around warranty period and maybe a little bit more. Manufacturers don't care about cars lasting eternity, they would like you to buy new car every 5 or 6 years.
You're spot on with the whole "miles" bs, that's why it's easy for me to sell cars with low miles, even though they're straight pos's.lmao
Ive rebuilt countless engines that had 40k-70k miles, while i regularly take hours-long roadtrips in cars with over 200k miles with no issue. Basing a cars reliability off of mileage is straight up stupid.😂
The exploding gas station thing comes from static electricity, where people would be pumping gas, hear their phone, slide their butt across a velour seat to grab the phone, and then go back to the nozzle and create a static spark. Boom. Also, most people get distracted while talking on phones, and do stupid things (as in your video); I have no problem with gas stations banning the use of phones while pumping.

i'll concede that, 1 EV is beneficial for your wallet (in the long run) and the environment. but many people forget about the production process of lithium batteries for EVs as well as where that electricity comes from.

Power to weight ratio is a replacment for displacement. Traction also helps.
@ideal media, how often do you change your oil?
My mx5, the latest version actually has a light on the dashboard that illuminates when you first start until the car has warmed up so not always a myth
1:18 as stated a Turbocharger, a Supercharger, Twincharged, and proper Aerodynamics
What makes the older Supra so cool is the body, a true classic stunner
8 cylinder turbo > 4 cylinder turbo
Chevrolet actually was started by a guy named Louis Chevrolet (There are more, but he was the main founder), and he was born in Switzerland, and the logo was inspired by a wallpaper at a hotel in Paris that William C. Durant (Another founder) stayed in. So, when you think about it, Chevrolet really isn’t that American at all.
The whole no replacement for displacement thing is then throw that turbo on the v8 and see which one is faster
Awesome piece!! Love the little digs too! Thanks!
You guys have been recommending a lot of old and unreliable cars, so some of these guys might actually benefit from putting in 91 gas.
Turning your A/C off before turning off your car.. I’ve been hearing this for as long as I can remember..
If your battery is on the way out this might actually help as the starter voltage might be too much for a weak battery.
It helps disengage the ac clutch. If you leave it on the clutch stays stuck in and can take out ac clutch
Great video Great concert Great show ✌
btw manuals are more engaging yes, but biggest thing is that u have full control of the car
Hey, remember back to future 2? Remplacing gas , and using alcohol from 189x they used in the movie , will destroy the engine? Can be so strong?
Good video. Are there places where gas station workers will stop people from using phones? The ones near me don't even stop people from smoking.
I’ve absolutely had gas station attendants yell at me or go on the intercom and tell me to not use my phone.
Most gas stations just don’t care in SoCal. Hell I see people smoking at the pump from time to time. Never seen an attendant stop that.
If anything, a Karen will probably make a commotion.
what is a phone even supposed to do to gas?
Absolutely nothing. The phone thing is just boomer paranoia. That’s probably why so many if them are also horrible drivers.
thanks for that vaccine joke lol. i feel the same way and it made me laugh
Im happy you mentioned the supra, its like those people dont know that other cars or opinions exist.
I'm intrigued now, where do other colors fall on the list if white is the most likely to be pulled over?
Colors like blue, orange, brown etc.
Black and white appears to be the lowest color pulled over.
(get it, because that's a cop car.)
When it is heated in the engine, it will have a greater impact on the piston, forcing it down with more force.
i love the looks people give me when i am smoking while fueling my car. My car is a diesel so no danger there.
Word, thanks 🤘🏼 keep it real ideal.
I’m telling you that a high flow filter in your factory intake will be a noticeable difference.
Your telling me a cold air intake is not better that a hot air intake 🤣 yea right next your going to say is the stroker motors are slow
@@Scitnax pretty sure its 100 octane not ron
@@cristianseminario7899 you'd be wrong. Nowhere in Europe do they use anything but the RON measurements. Other parts of the world (like the US, Canada, I think maybe Japan or a select few other Asian countries) use either the MON or the AKI (motor octane number / anti knocking index). And never on a pump will you see it advertised as just "octane". The numbers also don't even correspond to percentages of octane.
@@Scitnax dude if i go to get fuel in italy on the pump it clearly states that it is 95 or 100 octanes not ron it's written right there
@@cristianseminario7899 pretty sure it's not, since from 2018 onwards Italy is also obligated by EU law to list them as E5, E10 and E85.
Nice types of videos bro.
Cold air intakes do add horsepower. Which equals "faster". Plenty of videos showing the difference on a dyno.
